Black Friday Surprises!

Guys, (or rather girls) I super excited to show you the things I bought for Black Friday! We went shopping late Thursday night and a little bit on Black Friday too. Did you go Black Friday shopping? Anyway, let me show you my goodies. 🙂

camera

A cute backpack, a beautiful ESV Study Bible, and… (wait for it) a new camera! 😀 😀 😀 Woohoo!

The backpack: My old backpack has seen its better days, so I was really happy to find this pretty one at JCPenny. (And if you’re wondering why I need a backpack when I’m homeschooled – I use it to hold my co-op things. 😉 )

Yuck. Not a very good picture.

The Bible: Family Christian Bookstores had a 50% discount off of the whole line of ESV Study Bibles! My old Bible barely had any notes, so I really wanted a Study Bible. And I love this one! It’s beautiful and has lots of footnotes and cross-references and even a few illustrations. (Why why why didn’t I get any pictures of the inside? *facepalm*)

The cover is imprinted with swirly ivy designs that were quite fun to photograph…

And the camera! I’m really excited because it’s my first dSLR camera. 😀 It’s a Nikon d3400, and it came with two lenses – a standard lens and a zoom lens (I think). I might do a review of it later, but for now I’m still learning how to use it. 😉 There are several things I miss about my old camera (mostly ease-of-use), but I do like how this one has manual aperture and shutter speed options! I can’t wait to take some softened photos of a waterfall.

For the rest of the post I’m going to dump heaps and heaps of experimental photos on you, so take a deep breath and do some scrolling-finger exercises before we begin. XD

Aww, Casey kitty!

WILLOW FLUFFBALL!
dsc_0007-1280x853
Oh my goodness this might be one of the cutest pictures I’ve ever taken of Willow. XD

Can you see the improvement on photo quality here versus my last camera? (Snickers does not look impressed with my new equipment, but he DOES look cute. XD)

I don’t know if it was the camera or what, but Lily was super scared when I took this picture. She was racing around like crazy!

I love the blurred background and bokeh here! My new camera is good at that.

Random chicken. XD (I think I was experimenting with aperture.)
dsc_0038-1280x853
This photo looks dSLR-ish, doesn’t it? I love how the top is in focus and the bottom is blurred. That’s my favorite. 😀 *Happy sigh*
dsc_0039-1280x853
Funny Fact: Casey loves this plant. As in, she loves to eat it. XD

I got a few decent photos in the dark. (And heh heh, I kind of stole this photography idea from my sister who did a beautiful post about it here: https://abarefootgal.wordpress.com/2016/11/27/christmas-light-photography/

We’re revamping our Schoolroom. This is the Nature Shelf, and more specifically, this is a duck egg in an I-don’t-know-what-kind-of-nest.

The classic camera-with-its-human picture. XD

When I turned on the flash it made these little rainbow-y circles appear.

I really like how these drippy photos turned out. 🙂

For some reason, I kinda like this one too. I guess it’s the reflection on the stone or something?

In case you haven’t noticed, I l♥ve waterdrops.
dsc_0134-1280x853
SUPER CREEPY PHOTO OF OLAF ALERT! She has some serious red eye (perhaps because her eyes are already pinkish-red XD). Yikes. That really is quite creepy. XD

dsc_0133-1280x853
Aww, Liliputian again! I’m pretty pleased that this photo turned out pretty well even though I used flash. My old camera did’t take very good pictures with flash.

Oh my. That was a LOT of photos, wasn’t it? Yikes. Hee hee, I hope you enjoyed this post in spite of (or because of) that!

P. S. I always think of so many things to write for P. S.’s, but when it comes time to actually write them I can never remember what I was thinking… 😦 XD

  1. OOH! SO SHINY!! How very exciting! XD I love all the water drops, the lights, and the cute bunnies… though that one of Olaf is VERY creepy. 😛
Don’t you just love the sound of the shutter clicking? XD I think that’s my favorite sound. 😛

    1. Ha ha! SHINY! XD Thank you so much, Clara! HA HA HA, I know, Olaf is a creepy rabbit sometimes. XD
Ha ha (why do I keep saying that)! Well my camera has really weird “sound effects”. It kind of mutters and grumbles and wheezes and clicks and does all sorts of things. XD It’s funny.

  2. Your pictures are always so beautiful! My camera (well it’s technically my Dad’s) is the exact same model, just a d3200!! Cool, huh? 😉

I loved your Black Friday buys!! We just went to one shop in the morning… but it was awesome because they had free donuts!!! YUM! 😛

Thanks for commenting on the interview I did! I actually just did another guest post on another friends blog, so please check it out here http://heresclo.blogspot.com/2016/11/olivia-b-guest-post.html . Leave a comment letting me know what you think!! 😀

  3. Wow, neat! The backpack is super cute, and I have that same exact Bible!! 😀 I got it on one of my birthdays. 🙂
Congratulations on the new camera! I’m seriously considering getting a camera this Christmas. (Nikon L840, a slightly newer version of your old camera). That’s really cool that you found one on black Friday! I probably would have looked, but haven’t really seen the L840 in many/any stores.
I like your experimental photos! You got some nice ones! Haha, Olaf does look quite creepy in that picture! O_o XD

Thank you again! 😀 Ooh yes, I HIGHLY suggest the Nikon L840 or L830! I hope you can get it! (You can actually find it on Amazon. 😉 )
Thanks, Gracie! Ha ha, he DOES!

  4. I got Prismacolor colored pencils on Black Friday for a KILLER price, and the first thing I drew with them was the world’s manliest ballerina for my brothers birthday card. It’s hanging in his room, he loves it 🙂

    1. Ooh, that’s great! Isn’t blur pretty like that? 😀
Wow, that’s neat! Nope, my camera isn’t underwater, sadly. 😦 Your video was neat! Megan used to have an underwater case for her camera, but she doesn’t use it anymore. :/

  5. How exciting, Allison! You got a bunch of awesome things! And your new camera looks so neat! Let me know you like Nikon. 😀 (Although maybe you used it before…I don’t remember. 😛 )

P.S. I'm sooo sorry I haven't sent the letters yet! With NaNoWriMo and Nutcracker (which is Friday), and rehearsals, etc., I haven't gotten a chance to complete everything. Sorry about that! I'll get on it ASAP! 😀

    1. Thank ya’, Grace! I DO like Nikon, actually, because my previous camera was a Nikon Coolpix L830 which I loved! 😀
      P. S. Aww, I understand. That sounds super busy! I hope Nutcracker goes well for you, and I can’t wait to read your letter whenever it arrives! 😀 😀

  7. OH COOL!!! I actually (surprisingly) didn’t get anything during cyber monday or black friday! :O I thought about getting a really nice camera (which is kinda funny now that I know you got one! :P) but then I didn’t..oh well. :/ 😉 😀 Those are some great pictures!

  8. Cool camera! I have always wanted a camera like that, but for now, tablet cam. My parents have a Canon camera. They use it for special events, like a vacation or my birthday or CHRISTMAS!!!!! That is coming up soon! But I would use my tablet cam for that kind of stuff. 😛 🙂 😀 XD 😉

  9. That is so cool! I went Black Friday shopping as well! In your opinion do you think the deal on the camera was worth it/a good deal? (I’m asking because I may do it in future years)

    1. Thanks, Rebekah! 😀
Well, I think so, but I’m not sure so far because I haven’t quite figured all of the settings out and stuff. 🙂 But I’ll probably do a review once I get to know it better!

  10. Oh my gosh! You should totally keep your theme. The snowflakes are amazing! That is so cool! How do you do it!? What theme is it? One suggestion:Change your post background color to a brighter color! It really makes your blog stand out from the crowd ! I do think you should keep the blue chevron background. Can you imagine your blog by January, the sides a blue chevron, the post background a berry neon pink, black text( a little black makes any color pop) and white snowflakes drifting down the page= awesome. (I’m CrazyGirl)

    1. Thank you so much! Isn’t that neat? It’s actually not a theme, it’s a setting you can do for EVERY theme! Just go to you WP Admin, go to “Settings” and click on “General.” Scroll down until it says “Snow” and check the box! That’s it!
Ha ha, aww, thank you so much for the suggestions! Yes, I will think about changing my background back to the old one! 😀

  11. That’s so cool that you got a DSLR camera! How is the learning process going? I’m just curious, do you have to look through the viewfinder for your camera? I assume you do, but I was just wondering, because I don’t know much about DSLRs. 😉

    1. Thank you! I’m really excited too! It’s going okay (I just figured out how to focus my lens better, and I was like, “OHHHHHH, I SEE NOW!” XD ), but I still have a lot to learn! That’s a good question, actually. I started with looking at live view (the camera screen), but for some reason it doesn’t work quite right now, so I’m learning to use the viewfinder. It’s actually not nearly as inconvenient as I thought it would be!
