A Peek Into My Bible Journal

Hello, my friends! 😀

One of my goals or resolutions for this year was to start and keep a Bible journal. So far, so good! I usually read a chapter of the Bible one night and journal my favorite verse from that chapter the next night. Would you like to take a peek inside? Let me say in advance that some of the chapters were harder to journal than others, so some of the verses are a little more abstract. XD But I’m still glad I’m doing a verse from every chapter because it challenges me to look harder at each verse – and it will be really neat to look back on when I’m finished.

I use an erasable black gel pen for journaling. (You can see them on Amazon here.) I got it for a Christmas present and I love it! It’s very useful for things like this. 🙂 And yes, it really does erase! It erases just as good or better than a pencil does, but you do have to apply more pressure than erasing with a pencil.

Anyway, let’s get started. 🙂

The title page.

What a wonderful way to start the God’s Word, don’t you think? I think it’s one of the most important verses in the Bible.

This verse might seem kind of weird at first, but it’s really important. Here God promises us that one day Jesus will return to crush the serpent’s (Satan’s) head, and thus crush evil forever.

Heh heh, this is NOT my favorite page from the journaling perspective. The flower is quite odd and the page is rather cluttered. XD But it’s a really good verse. Man is the only creature made in the image of God, and that’s why it’s wrong to kill a human and not wrong to kill an animal. A very important verse indeed.

I really like how this page turned out. 🙂 I like how simple and clean-looking it is. And WOW, doesn’t it make you fidgety just to think of staying inside while it rains and rains and rains some more for 40 long days and 40 long nights… Phew!

A rainbow is beautiful not just because of its colors, but because it is a promise from God. ♥

Not such a good idea, people… XD

God’s promise to Abram.

Another promise to Abram. I wonder how many people have lived and died from Creation until now. I wonder how many more are yet to come…

I really like this one too. 🙂 God is our shield, a strong and mighty fortress.

And that’s it so far! Which verse/page was your favorite? Do YOU have a Bible Journal? If you do, what are your thoughts on it?

P. S. Goodness, I have so many post ideas! Which of these sounds most exciting to you? A room update (we’ve added some pretty new decorations in our bedroom), another writing tips post, or a random/photography post? I have a bunch more ideas too… XD

  1. I love all of these! 🙂 They are beautifully drawn/written, and I think it’s really cool that you’re bible journaling. I’m doing a challenge with my church where we’re trying to read the whole Bible in 2017, so this post has inspired me to journal more about what I’m reading!😊

By the way, I really like your blog. 🙂 (I discovered it from Clara’s Craft Corner.)

    1. Thank you so much, Olivia! I’m very glad you like them. 😀 And it’s super neat that you’re reading the whole Bible this year! Aww, that’s great! I hope your journaling goes well. 🙂

  2. Your drawings(or whatever you want to call them) are great! Most of the verses are familiar to me, but I actually have memorized Genesis 8:22. There’s such an important message in that verse. I think the idea of a Bible journal is pretty cool, though I don’t have one. Recently I have been practicing calligraphy with the words from Philippians 4:8(I think that’s what it is): true, pure, lovely, just, etc. Do you have a calligraphy pen? They’re pretty fun, though I’m not very good at using it. But we have a book called Calligraphy Made Easy, which has a lot of fun fonts to try.

  3. Wonderful journal pages! This is a really neat idea! I like how unique it is, filled with artsy verses, rather than just plain written ones. Seems like it’d be more motivating that way. I think my favorites are the Gen 6 and 8 ones!

  4. That’s a great idea! I thought you had to get a special Bible for that. I like your calligraphy/handwriting (and the flower one isn’t as bad as you think it is, it’s quite clever). Another writing tips post sounds cool!

    1. Thank you! Well you do have to have a special Bible for journaling in the Bible, but I figured I could do it this way, in a different notebook, too. 🙂 Thank you so much! Heh heh, I’m glad you liked it. XD Okay!

  5. This is AWESOME. I really enjoyed this! I loooved reading what you had to say under almost each picture! I was thinking “Yup, yup, yup!” to myself the entire time! 😄

And heh heh, your Bible journal is wayyy more organized (and absolutely beautiful!) than mine… 😄 I am a bit in awe at your last one. And every one. Because they’re absolutely gorgeous! 😄 You did such an incredible job with them! They look AMAZING, to say the least! 😄

Thank you for letting us take a peek into your lovely Bible journal!

  6. These drawings are really pretty!
If you don’t mind me asking, what denomination of the church are you a part of? I don’t recognize some of the way the verses are worded from my Bible.

    1. Thank you so much! Oh, sure! We’re Presbyterians, and our church uses an ESV translation. I don’t think Presbyterians all use the same translation, but that’s what we use, anyway. 🙂

  8. What would I like? A writing tips post… (I was searching for “writing prompts” when I found your blog! And now I am most impressed with your Bible Journal – what a good idea!)
Which is my favourite verse/page? Visually, your picture of Genesis 2:2, because of how “God Rested” stands out in bold from the rest of the page, and it is a beautifully balanced composition. As for the abstract, I really love “Noah walked with the true God” Genesis 6:9. I love how you have drawn a pathway that winds gently off into the horizon, as it makes me imagine a really pleasant walk and how it feels to walk along with God, and where we might end up just beyond the visible page. 🙂 Keep up the good work!

  9. Hi Allison! I was wondering… how did you manage to have WordPress show only a summary of your posts, not the whole thing? I’m trying to do the same for my blog…

    1. Hey, Jordan! Oh, good question! You mean for the WordPress Reader, right? Okay, I think you go to your WP Admin, go to the Settings tab, and click on “Reading.” Then find the spot that says “For each article in a feed, show”…, and click on “Summary.” I think that should work. Let me know if you have any more questions! 😀

      1. Well, that wasn’t exactly what I meant, but your answer helped me anyways! I was actually wondering how on the actual website (yours, for example ;)) I only see the first few lines of your posts… I wanted to do the same for my blog (if that’s okay with you, of course ;)), but it might be something that’s only for your theme. Thank you anyways! 😀

  10. Allison, my sister Megan says that you have to go into graphic design and if you don’t you’re crazy! XD I showed her the pictures, and your photography and drawings and she is in college for graphic design and says you have to go! XD Hahah! 🙂 She’s about to graduate. You should take her advice….

    1. HA HA, wow, that is soooo sweet! Tell your sister Megan THANK YOU! Yeah, that would be really fun, to do graphic design or photography or art or something like that! I would love it. 🙂

    1. Well normally Bible Journaling uses a certain Bible where you can draw/illustrate your favorite verses on the Bible pages, but for my kind, I just write out my favorite verse from each day’s reading in a notebook. 🙂
