On Monday we left for a vacation at Assateague Island, and so far it’s been a ton of fun! If you know me, you’re probably guessing that I took, like, hundreds of pictures. And you’d be right. XD This is going to be one serious photo dump, guys.
I was trying to figure out how to organize the pictures, but I ended up pretty much just keeping them in the order they uploaded, and hoping that it’s not too jumbled. XD
I’ll start with some flowers. We’re staying in a cozy little Air B&B house with a moss lawn and gorgeous periwinkle hydrangeas in the front yard. I love how these photos turned out!
Some of our funniest adventures happened while driving. One time my littlest sister Carmen came up with… um, rather creative “Would You Rather” questions like, “Would you rather have all your hair pulled out or all your teeth?” and “Would you rather pour honey or glue over your head?” and lots more that were too gross to tell. We nearly died laughing but it was so GROSS. XD XD XD
I don’t pictures marshes as being exactly beautiful, but the marsh at the entrance to Assateague was really pretty.
If you’ve ever read Misty of Chincoteague, you probably already know that there are wild ponies roaming all over Assateague and Chincoteague Islands. It’s so funny because they walk right up to you and wander around the beaches and parking lots where people are, but they can still bite and kick like wild animals, so you’re not supposed to pet them.
I love this next picture! I spent a long time trying to get this to turn out. XD
When I was taking these footprint pictures I remembered a little poem/story thingy that I love. You can read it here.
My sister Megan took these pictures of me with my camera. The next one looks like my elbow is lighting up. XD
As you can see, the waves make me happy. 😛 🙂
Heh heh, I forgot to put sunscreen on my back that day and now it’s bright pink. YOUCH.
My parents taking a walk on the beach…
We barely found any shells the first day, but the second and third days we found a bunch!
I took sooooo many pictures of waves, but I just couldn’t help it – they’re so beautiful! We hardly ever take beach vacations so I have to take what I can get. XD
My brothers built a sandcastle every time we went to the beach, and the last one was QUITE impressive. But we’ll get to that in a moment… This is just the beginning of a moat or something.
Aww, isn’t that picture sweet? My little sister, Carmen, loved the waves too. 🙂
I don’t know what Megan is looking for… shells, maybe?
I got some pretty funny pictures of my brothers’ expressions while they were jumping waves. XD
This is one of my favorite pictures out of all of the beach photos! Just look at their smiles! 😀 Logan is the one with the black shirt and Jeff has the white shirt.
Hee hee, look at Megan’s hair!
I got some neat silhouette pictures of my parents on the beach.
I like the seagull silhouettes in this one.
Isn’t this so CUTE?!
HA HA!
Hoof prints…
And footprints.
I got some really neat pictures of two wild ponies meandering over the beach.
Oh my goodness, isn’t this hilarious? The horses were investigating these peoples’ bags. XD
Going down the boardwalk…
More flower pictures. ♥
Ahhh, I LOVE the next one!
Here’s the first sandcastle my brothers made. Neat, but nothing compared to their later ones. 🙂
This is the second sandcastle. (I took this picture quick with Megan’s camera, so of course it won’t be as good of quality as my wonderful camera would be. Heh heh. 😛 )
And this is their last one! It looks pretty similar to the second one, but it’s more impressive in real life. (Megan took these pictures.)
And back to the ocean… It looks like Carmen is Moana. XD
More wave action pictures!
XD
His expression… XD XD XD
I like this one because the wave looks huge! (Actually they were pretty big.)
Seagulls!
I got some more neat (but blurry) action photos of the wild ponies galloping.
And lastly we shall end with a sunset. These are the last beach pictures I got before my camera stopped working. *Sniff* I’m not exactly sure what’s wrong with it. It might be that the battery isn’t good anymore, or maybe it’s something else. It still takes pictures but the screen doesn’t work. We might be able to fix it when we get home, but for now… 😦 Any advice?
PHEW! You made it through almost 100 pictures! I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did. 😀 Have you been to Assateague or Chincoteague? Do I even dare ask what your favorite picture was? Nah, there were too many. XD
Thank you so much for reading, my friends!
***Allison***
P. S. AHHH YAY! Hayley is doing another ATC trade! For all the details, check out her post here. You should totally go see – the past two ATC trades were SO much fun!
I LOVE THOSE PICTURES!! I have NO idea which one’s my favorite! THOSE PONIES ARE SO CUTE!! 🐎❤

That one picture looked like Megan’s hair was waving! 🙂
And also, you made me homesick for the beach!!!!!! The waves. The sand. The WARMTH. I’ve not been to Assateague, but I have been to San Diego, and the beaches there are just. so. lovely. *sighs*

Wow, these pictures are absolutely gorgeous, Allison! I thoroughly enjoyed scrolling through them all. You’re right, I can’t really have a favorite, because they are all so good! I do really like the one that you took from your vehicle, because it’s really unique and fun. I’m curious-did you sit in a middle seat? The beach photos are so pretty, partially because of the lighting. 🙂
Also, that third and last sand castle is so cool! It looks very impressive. 😉
That’s too bad that your camera stopped working…are you still taking pictures with it? What type of battery does it use?
LikeLike
Aww, yay! I’m so glad you liked them! 😀 Yeah, I thought so too. I think I probably did seat in the middle seat, hee hee!
Yeah, I got some great photos at the golden hour one day. Hee hee, I’ll have to tell my brothers that. 😉
Yeah… well I haven’t been trying to take pictures lately, but I figured out that it still mostly works with another lens but not with the one I’m using. Dad thought maybe the lens I usually use takes more battery-power to operate, which would make sense if the battery isn’t working right. *Sigh* I’m not sure what kind of battery it is – it’s a square battery, not a normal AA or something like that.

You’re welcome! Oh, that’s interesting? Do you like to sit in the middle seat? With our van, everyone avoids sitting in the middle seats as much as possible. 😉
Oh, okay. That’s good that it at least works. So you don’t think that you could buy that type of battery at a store somewhere(like Walmart) where you are?
LikeLike
Well actually I don’t especially like seating in the middle seat, but if I get in last then that’s the only one left. XD Although it’s not too bad because at least I can stretch my legs out. 😛
Yeah… I think, anyway. Yes, we thought about that, but I think it might be too much of a specialty. Thankfully we’ll be going home tomorrow so I might just order one from Amazon. 🙂

Oh, really? On our trips we assign ourselves seats(well, we basically just sit in the same seats we’ve always sat in on trips). I guess you’ve never done that?
Well, I hope you can get your camera fixed soon! 🙂
LikeLike
Oh, okay! On this trip we mostly took turns with the boys or the girls sitting in the captain’s chairs. But when it was the girls turn for the back, Megan picked the window seat if she got in first, which left me with the middle seat.
Yeah, me too. 😦

Hehe, in our family, the oldest siblings generally get what they want when it comes to seats in a vehicle, just because they’re older. It’s an unspoken rule. 😉 What kind of vehicle do you have?
LikeLike
XD That’s so funny! We have a Yukon which is very similar to a Suburban. What about you?
LikeLike
Hehe, I guess so. XD
We have a Chevy Express, which has four rows of seats in the back-the row in the very back is generally taken out when we go on a trip, though.
What is your favorite car company(if you have one)?
LikeLike
Oh, okay!
Hmm. Well I’m not really into cars so I don’t really have a favorite. My car is a Toyota Camri and I like it pretty good, so maybe a Toyota? I have no clue. XD
LikeLike
Oh, well, that’s not really surprising, I guess. My brother who really likes cars kind of trained his sisters to pay attention to different cars and such, so that’s what I care. 😉 Sometimes on trips we play car bingo, in which you have to stop specific cars on the road, which is pretty fun.

I love all your pictures, they’re all so beautiful! I loved reading the Misty of Chincoteague books when I was little. It took me a REALLY long time to learn how to pronounce Chincoteague. LOL 😛
I think my favorite pic is the last horse before the sunsets. It looks so majestic! 😀

Thanks so much! Ha ha, yep, I’ve read Misty of Chincoteague and I agree – both Chincoteague and Assateague are really hard to pronounce. XD

Those are beautiful pictures. I’ve never been there but now I’d like to. My favorite is the pony galloping, & I hope you figure out your camera glitch. My husband sends his equipment to KEH occasionally if he can’t get it repaired locally. He said KEH is reasonable on their repair costs & if it’s something that can’t get repaired they usually give him a good deal on a replacement. … https://www.keh.com/shop/repair

I WISH I COULD HAVE COME! That looks like SO MUCH FUN!!! I’ve NEVER seen the ocean before! We’re going to Mexico for the missions trip though, and I might get to see it and even swim in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O 😀 Anyways, that was super neat!!! I guess when Megan told me about it I didn’t realize you would actually see wild horses and everything!!! XD 🙂 Goodness, girl, you are thin as a stick!! In the silhouette pictures!!!
Aww! I love the silhouettes of your parents, that’s cool! 🙂 And those waves look like SO MUCH FUN!
Impressive sandcastles too! I wish I could have made some!! 🙂 What was Megan doing the whole time? You didn’t show a ton of pictures of her! XD 😉 She was probably trying to get near the horses and looking for seashells. XD haha!! 🙂 So were there many horses around the beach area or swimming or anything! XD XD 😉
In the last two pictures of people, the one up from the bottom one, it looks like Logan was grabbing the people up in the right hand corner! XD XD
How old is Logan? If you don’t want to say on here, can we take this to email? He looks a LOT older than I thought he was!!! Isn’t he in between of you and Megan?? 😉 haha!!! Anyways, I’m off to look at the wordcrafters page to see what’s new! 🙂 XD Bye! Thanks for posting all the great pictures! I loved looking at them!

It WAS so much fun! Wow, you should definitely try to go to the ocean at Mexico because oceans are AMAZING! 😀 I hope you have a great trip, by the way. 🙂 That’s so exciting!
HA HA! You are hilarious. XD But yeah, I’m rather tall and thin…. which actually pretty much describes our family. 😛 Ooh, Megan got a HILARIOUS but super blurry picture of me that I’ll have to send you – maybe after you reply to the bunny email. 😉
Yeah, I like how they turned out too! YES the waves were soooo much fun! But very cold. 😉 Yep! Heh heh, I thought I got a good amount of pictures of Megan, but I guess maybe not compared to everyone else. That’s probably because she didn’t swim very much or build sandcastles – she mostly looked for shells and stuff. 🙂 Yeah, there were horses right on the beach where we were! Two actually went up to some people’s stuff and pawed through their cooler. O.o It was kind of funny. XD
Ha ha, it kind of does! I didn’t notice that. Yep, Logan is between Megan and I – he’s fifteen. 🙂
You’re more than welcome, K. A.! Thank you for the wonderful comment!
