Hello, Fall {Décor + Autumn Photos}

Hello, dears!

Well it’s fall, and that means time to break out the pumpkins and take pictures of colorful leaves. 🙂 We usually aren’t into seasonal decorations that much, but we decided to do some fall stuff this year and I think it turned out so pretty! Mayhaps this little décor tour (HA!) will give you some inspiration to make your own fall decorations. 😀

Pumpkins

I love pumpkins! They’re so cute and pretty and round. We grew two different types of pumpkins this year and they both turned quite well. First we have the mini ones… (SO ADORABLE!)

As well as a bunch of bigger ones. I like the staggered arrangement of pumpkins in different sizes and shapes for added interest.

Another fun way to use pumpkins (especially mini ones) as decorations is to spray paint them metallic gold or copper. Aren’t they pretty?

Osage Oranges

Osage oranges, or hedge apples, as they are sometimes called, are round, green, baseball-sized fruits that grow on thorny trees. They aren’t edible, though, unless you’re a cow or a horse. I think they’re so neat! We got these from our grandparents and arranged them in a rustic wire basket to serve as a door stopper.

My sister named one of them Samwise and painted it gold. XD I’m telling you, gold spray paint can make anything look beautiful! They look like something you’d buy, don’t they? Now I will say that after a couple of weeks it kind of spoiled even through the paint. But it looked pretty while it lasted. 🙂

So there we go! Those are two ways we’ve decorated for fall so far. Which one was your favorite? Also before you go I wanted to add a few fall photos while we’re on the topic. 🙂 Enjoy!

We have this huge puffy maple tree in our front yard that always turns color super early. It usually has a sort of ombre effect where it goes from red to orange to yellow to green. 🙂

There are cicada shells all over our trees and it’s rather annoying. BUT this one did provide a good focal point for testing out some bokeh. 😀 Do you have a lot of cicadas where you live? In the evenings they’re so loud it’s almost deafening here.

I love the bokeh in these next pictures! (Can you tell I’m kind of obsessed? XD)

So that’s about it! I hope you enjoyed this fall-ish post, dear readers. What is your favorite thing about fall? I love the weather and the beautiful clear days and colorful leaves.

P. S. I have an ADORABLE bunny photoshoot coming up soon, so stay tuned! 😀

  1. I love Fall aesthetic! *sigh* It was great reading your post, Allison! We actually have a lot of Osage oranges around the corner from us, so I’ll have to try that! 😀
P.S. Letter update: AHH! I am SO SORRY I haven’t sent it yet! I’ve been really bogged down with school, auditions, dance, etc., and it’s kind of gotten placed on the backburner. I’m close to being done, and I plan to send it off on Monday! 😀

      P. S. AHH IT’S OKAY! It really is just fine, although of course I can’t wait to get it. 😀 I hope you get less bogged soon. XD

  2. Lovely post! Where I live, it’s known to have bipolar weather (like 100°F one day and snowing the next. Or hot in the winter), but thankfully it actually feels like fall!! 😄❤

  3. I loved those tiny pumpkins! So cute! We didn’t grow any pumpkins this year 😦 But we do have some cute faux ones! They still aren’t as good as the real ones though 😉

  4. Your pictures are so beautiful!! We don’t really get much of a fall season in Florida, but I love enjoying all of the decorations and leaves and hikes when i go to Tenessee. Oh, and btw, hedge apples are great for bowling with. 😉 I really enjoyed your post, Allison! 😀

    1. Thank you so much! Aww that’s a bummer. 😦 Ha ha, thanks for the tip! We thought about trying that but we didn’t after all. We should, though! What did you use for the bowling pins?
Aww I’m so glad! Thanks for commenting, Nicole!

  5. Ooh, I love the little pumpkins–they’re so cute! And the look great in the basket! 🙂
Fall is such a beautiful time of year. One thing I really like about this time of year is collecting black walnuts. It’s really fun to do, and I love the smell that rubs off on my hands! 🙂 We grew some pumpkins, too, but some of the plants died even before the pumpkins could ripen all the way. Have you ever had that problem?
Anyway, I really liked seeing all your pictures! Fall colors are so pretty!

    1. Thanks, Sassafras! I know, I think so too! 😀
Yes, it really is! Oh, that’s interesting! What do you do with them? Do you shell them and eat them? We have some black walnut trees but I must confess I don’t particularly like the taste. XD Aww yeah, we actually have had that probably several times, I think. Usually pumpkins don’t work very well for us. I wonder what that’s from.
Thanks again, Sassafras! I’m so glad you liked them! 😀

      1. You’re welcome! 🙂
We sell most of our black walnuts to a place that hulls them and ships them out to someplace. I don’t really like the taste of black walnuts either, but they are good in baked goods. They’re really hard to crack though, so we generally only put them in stuff around Christmastime. We have to use a vice to crack them, and shells are prone to go flying. 😛

        1. Oh yeah, I see! I think we have sold some too before but only once or so. Yeah, they aren’t as bad in baked goods. Ha ha, I know – it takes forever to get the meat out! That’s so funny! It sounds dangerous. O.o 😛

          1. We sell them every year we have black walnuts, but last year we didn’t have any. 😦 This year we have a lot, though. We actually get a lot of money for them! 🙂
Hehe, I know, it does take a lot of work. How have you gotten out the nut meat before?
Well, I suppose it could be dangerous, but so far we’ve come out unscathed. XD What’s bad is if the shell gets in with the nut meat–no one wants to eat a shell!

            1. Hmm, strange. Wow, that’s great! I think the only way I’ve done it is with a nut pick or whatever it’s called. I crack the nut with a nutcracker and then pick the meat out with a pointy tool.
Ha ha, good! Ooh yeah, that’s no fun.

    1. Thank you so much! Oh, really? That’s interesting that there are no pumpkin patches in Ireland. Hopefully you’ll find some good ones in New England! 😀
