Sea of Gold {Sisters Photoshoot}

Hello, dears!

AHHH, I am so, so excited for this post! Can you believe this is the first sisters photoshoot in almost a year?? (You can see the last one here – yikes, I think our photography skills have improved since then.)

A couple of days ago, I was taking my brother lunch at our other farm down the road when I met with a breathtaking sight: one of the fields was nearly COVERED in buttercups! It was practically solid yellow in some parts. O.o As soon as I got home I told Megan about it and she was like, “Ooh, we should do a photoshoot!” Just what I was thinking. 😉

We went over that evening at golden hour, but sadly those pictures didn’t turn out the best since it was already getting dark when we went. :/ So we came back later one morning and oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE how these photos turned out! I hope you guys do too.

First, let’s set the scene. AHHH, just look at it! Unfortunately it was rather cloudy when we came, but got sunny toward later on in the shoot. And yes, Megan is carrying a chair. Her yellow desk chair, to be used as a prop. 😀

Ta-daa! The chair served us quite well, although it looked a bit pale and peaked.

We found some handy tracks through the field that were perfect for sitting in!

HA HA, I love these next photos. Megan picked a handful of buttercup flowers and threw them into the air. Only in these photos, it just looks like they’re levitating. :’D

I think these next two photos are my favorite of all the ones I took of Megan. SO. PRETTY.

Guys, I still can’t get over how YELLOW it was! It was like one of those planted flower fields you see on Instagram or something.

buttercup (7)

Time for a brief intermission while we change the scenes and switch cameras. (In case you weren’t sure, I took the pictures of Megan and pictures like the one below, Megan took the pictures of me, and I edited all of the above. That wasn’t confusing… 😛 )

buttercup (38)

By this time it was starting to get quite sunny. This calls for a floppy hat!

A lot of people think I look SO much like Megan, which is funny to me because for most of our lives, we really didn’t look the same. But now my hair is darker and shorter, and I can see the resemblance.

Me picking flowers… you know what that means! (If not, keep scrolling.)

buttercup (20)

YAY, more flower confetti!

buttercup (24)

Hee hee, I love this one! If my arms look kinda weird, I’ll tell you why in the next picture. 😉

buttercup (25)

Fun fact: my hidden “talent” is that I have double-jointed elbows. O.o It’s quite fun to freak people out with it, and sometimes I don’t even realize I’m doing it, like in the picture above when my arms don’t look quite straight. But I decided to demonstrate for you guys on purpose so you can see better what it looks like. Ready for a slightly disturbing photo?

buttercup (26)

HAHAHA. :’D It looks bizarre even to me. It doesn’t hurt, though. AHEM. Moving on. Let’s get back to some slightly… prettier poses. 😀

buttercup (27)

buttercup (31)

I’m so glad there were tracks in the field, because otherwise you would just see my head sticking out from yellowness. 😛

buttercup (33)

buttercup (34)

And that’s all for me! Another brief intermission for a few last photos of Megan…

buttercup (39)

The waves have parted! 😀

buttercup (35)

Okay, guys, get ready for another hilarious picture of… Megan with bunny ears! OH MY GOODNESS, when we were sorting the pictures we stopped at this one and just dissolved into laughter. :’D :’D :’D

buttercup (36)

buttercup (37)

We shall end with one last floppy hat picture. Hats are neat theoretically, but I never wear them except in photoshoots, honestly. XD

buttercup (2)

*happy sigh* There you have a selection of my favorites! It was so much fun to take these photos and edit them and post them. I hope you guys enjoyed browsing them too! ❤ Be sure to check out Megan’s post to see a different selection. 🙂

Which photos were your favorite? Do you have any weird “talents”? Isn’t the buttercup field just AMAZING? And do you think Megan and I look alike?

Thanks so much for reading, dears, and have a lovely day!

  3. I love when you do these photoshoots, and these photos are really nice! The setting was quite pretty, and I like that you used a chair as a prop. I can see the resemblance between you and Megan, but I never really thought you looked that alike. But you do look at lot more like Megan now that your hair is shorter. Your hair looks great, by the way. How do you guys get such pretty waves in your hair? I only have wavy hair when it’s been in a braid for several hours. 😉

    1. Thank you so much, Sassafras! I liked the chair as a prop too. 🙂 Ha ha, well you and me both, then. 😉 Aww, thank you! Megan’s hair is just naturally curly, but mine needs a bit of encouragement. 😛 I add some shea butter to my wet hair after a shower, and then scrunch it dry with a towel. If I sleep on dry hair (even with the shea butter), it looks all flat and straight the next day, but if I sleep on wet hair with the gel in it, it’s nice and curly the next day!

  4. Wow, your hidden talent is so cool! … And kinda creepy. 😛 Also, I love Megan’s shirt! if you don’t mind me asking, where did she purchase it? It’s so hard to find cute, modest clothing these days. 😦

Very nice and sunny photos, girls!! ❤ Keep up the wonderful work!

    1. HAHA why thanks. I think. XD But I agree with you. 😛 Oh, sure! I like it too, and have one in the same style but a different print. We found them at, wait for it… Walmart! XD Walmart actually has decent clothes often, believe it or not.
Thanks so much for the lovely comment, dear!

  5. I LOVE these photos! Especially the buttercup bouquet ones, the floppy hat ones, the buttercup confetti ones…yeah, basically all of them. 😉 That’s so cool that your arms hyperextend! My arms hyperextend a the tiniest little bit, but not noticeably. 🙂 This is my favorite kind of post that you do. And taking photos of people is definitely my favorite kind of photography. ❤

    1. Eeeep, thank youuu! Really? That’s so neat! I don’t think I’ve met anyone with weird elbows like me. XD Aww, that’s so wonderful to hear – thanks for telling me! We shall have to do more sisters photoshoots in the future. 😀

      1. You’re welcome! ❤ Like I said, my arms hyper extend the tiniest little bit, but I don't think I'm actually double-jointed. So I'm sorry if that was confusing. 😉 Yes, please do! 😀

  6. Awe I love these! They are all so pretty! I wish I was photogenic and had siblings. XD
I LOVE the flower confetti idea! It’s so cute! And Megan’s springy shirt goes so well with the setting!
I love all the photos on her blog too, the golden hour lighting makes everything look so magical! 😀 ❤
And actually the bunny ears feet thing is cute! It kinda looks like you were doing it on purpose, like for Easter and everything? Maybe you could start a new photography trend? XD

*calms down* but REALLY! You girls are definitely getting a lot better with posing and photography in general. 🙂 Besides, you’re both so cute and yes, I think you guys look alike now. (Which, by the way – did you get a trim? Because I think my hair’s longer than yours now…)

    1. OH MY GOODNESS THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY TO HEAR THAT FROM A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER. 😀 😀 I must say, the posing course was quite helpful. 😉 Aww, thank youuuu. (I did get a trim a long time ago, but it didn’t do much. Maybe your hair grows faster than mine, or mine was just curlier than usual that day.)
Also THANKS FOR THAT HEAP OF FAVORITES. ❤ I love the last ones you picked especially. 🙂

  13. HOORAY FOR A SISTERS PHOTOSHOOT! These are some of my favorite posts that you do. 😀 What an absolutely breathtaking place for photos! ❤ I LOVE the pictures of Megan picking flowers and the ones of you throwing flowers. 🙂 I just want to wander around in that field and listen to music and pick flowers. XD *zooms over there*
Also, I don't think you and Megan look that alike, but you guys do look similar now that your haircuts match! People used to think that my older sister and I were twins, which always confused me because I don't see the resemblance at all. XD
This was such a lovely post! 😀 I can't wait for the next sisters photoshoot!

Yeah, I don’t think we look terribly alike either, but yes. Ha ha, really? From what I’ve seen I can definitely tell you’re sisters, but I wouldn’t say you like like twins. XD
Thank you so much once again, Clara! I can’t wait to do the next sisters photoshoot either!
