Minty Fresh {Field Photoshoot}

Hello, dears!

Before I start this post, I just wanted to say thank you all SO much for your lovely birthday wishes! I had a wonderful day filled with love from friends and family, fun gifts, delicious food, a lovely walk in the woods, and a movie night. πŸ™‚ I can’t believe I’m 19. O.o And yes, I will hopefully post about my birthday gifts next, because I know you guys enjoy those posts (as do I). πŸ˜‰ So stay tuned!

But for now, I am SO excited to show you guys this photoshoot! I looked out the window one morning and saw that the wheatfield across the lane looked silver. It had just rained and the sun caught the bedewed wheat in a breathtaking way. I dropped everything and took heaps of pictures of all the little wonders I found at the edge of the field -including a large amount of ladybugs and water drops, which made for some amazing photos!

Have fun browsing through these minty-hued pictures!

Here’s the beautiful setting. ❀ ❀wheat 3

Wheat is just pleasing to look at, isn’t it?

wheat 1

Of course, it wouldn’t be an official photoshoot without Maggie. πŸ˜›

wheat 2

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of taking pictures of water drops. They can turn a simple green blade into a field of diamonds. ❀

wheat 4

I don’t usually like flies, but they can make for an interesting macro picture. πŸ˜‰

wheat 5

Fun fact: Dad planted the wheat in this field as a “nurse crop” to protect the orchard grass in here while it gets established, after which he’ll make into hay. πŸ™‚

wheat 7

Yay, a ladybug! The bright red against cool mint just looks so pretty and cheerful to me, even though I don’t normally like red and mint green together.

wheat 8

I have to admit, I’m really proud of this photo. πŸ˜€ It took a lot of patience while getting soaked to finally get a sharp macro picture of this ladybug! It’s now my desktop background. πŸ˜‰

wheat 9

This photo’s a little strange, but I like the abstract texture of it with the varying sizes of bokeh and the soft green stripes.

wheat 10

Who knew backlit, unripe wheat could look so pretty? πŸ˜›

wheat 11

It was amazing howΒ covered everything was in tiny droplets!

wheat 12

Ladybugs again! This mini, spiky forest looks hard to walk through to me, but the ladybug persevered. πŸ˜‰

wheat 13

AHHH, I love this one too! The soft, creamy background just sets off the sharp focus on the bedewed red shell.

wheat 14

I honestly only added this picture because I loved the bokeh in the left corner. Isn’t it so neat? It’s like a cutout of the orchard grass head, and I don’t even know how it happened!

wheat 15

This stem was so silvered with water that it looked coated in sugar crystals. ❀

wheat 17

Nothing like a good drop-hanging-from-a-grass-blade photo. πŸ˜›

One more pop of red…

wheat 22

And we’ll end with this perfect waterdrop. *heart eyes*

Ahhh, this photoshoot just makes me happy! I do hope you enjoyed it too, my friends. πŸ™‚ Before you go, I’d love to hear…

Which photos were your favorites? Do you like ladybugs? Do you prefer macro photography or normal photography?

Thanks so much for reading, dears, and have a lovely day!

***Allison***

P. S. Sometimes you guys will ask me what lens or camera I used, so I’m going to start putting that information in each post, probably in the postscript like I’m doing now. πŸ˜‰ So for this post I used my Nikon D3400 with my 50mm lens, and for the super close-ups I attached my Fotodiox macro lens extension tube set – just the 7mm ring. Hope that helps!

    1. AHH THANKS. I love them too!
I sure did! We actually watched When Calls the Heart. :’D We always groan at how cheesy it is, but we wanted to see how they would replace a certain actress that couldn’t be there anymore. πŸ˜‰

  2. These are really pretty photos, Allison, and I like how they’re relatively unique, as well. My favorites are the ones with the super creamy backgrounds (it’s delicious!!), especially the fourth picture of the ladybug. I like both macro and other types of photography, but recently started using my macro extension lens that I got with my camera, and it’s pretty cool.
To answer your other question, I used to like ladybugs, but in the past several years there has been an extremely annoying abundance of them at certain times of the year. Sometimes they just dive bomb me, and this is unpleasant. I put them in the same category as stink bugs, though stink bugs are definitely worse.

    1. Aww, thank you! Yes, I was happy at their unique-ness too. πŸ˜‰ Hee hee, SAME. I love the creamy backgrounds. Ooh, I didn’t know you got the extension tubes! That’s wonderful.
Ugh, I know what you mean – same with us. I like them outside, but not nearly as much inside in great quantities. πŸ˜›

    1. Awwww, THANK YOUUUU. Well I got quite a love of blurry ones, but I just kept taking pictures until they were sharp. πŸ˜› If you have a DSLR, it helps to increase the shutter speed so your subject won’t blur while it moves.
I’m so happy you liked this post! πŸ˜€

Oh and I love ladybugs! All your photos with them in it are so cute! ❀ We have them up here, but I don't get to see them much. Probably because they're small. And because I don't get out much. XD
