Hello, my friends!
Has anyone else gone to multiple Fall Festivals this year? I feel like there were so many of them! And they were all fun! I was especially looking forward to this Fall Fest since our friends who host it always do such a good job of filling the day with fun games and contests and food and barn dancing. I got to be an event photographer again and I’m so happy with how the pictures turned out! Here’s a little sampling of them.
Enjoy some pumpkins, bistro lights, and cute kids!
I’m not going to post a lot of people portraits just to protect their privacy, but I can post a picture of my sister. 😉 Megan was one of the face painters. She also volunteered to help with a BUNCH of other stuff and did a great job.
They had this amazing table full of adorable pumpkins to decorate!
I LOVE.
Sharpies and paint pens were ready on an adjacent table so kids and adults could decorate the pumpkins however they wished.
It was so cute to see their designs. 🙂
We brought one of our tractors for the hay rides, and my brothers took turns driving people around. (This was before we added straw bales to the trailer.)
Bistro lights in the big tent! So pretty.
These benches were actually made by our friends and some of the volunteers who helped put on the event! I wasn’t able to make it that day but I helped make benches last year; it was a good time.
My friend Eliana grew these zinnias in her flower garden and AHH, they looked so bright and cheerful on the tables!

This is the completed backdrop. Isn’t it lovely? I wish I could show some pictures of people using it, but yeah… no close-up portraits this time.
Unless they’re of my family. 😉 Mom enjoyed the coloring pages they had set out on another table. It was really fun to watch both kids and adults enjoying the arts and crafts.
These haybales weren’t necessarily a part of the event, but they’re always a hit with the kids. Excellent for climbing on.
One of the most popular games was 9-Square, which is basically like 4-Square, but with nine sections and up in the air instead of on the ground. A little like volleyball, I guess. The line got SOOOOO long, oh my word.
They also had multiple family races – running races, relay races, and tug-of-war competitions.
The backwards race with the little kids was adorable.
The face-painting table was quite popular too; it was fun walking around and seeing all the designs and pictures on people’s faces.
Volunteers did sign up to be face-painters, but as the day went on, people randomly started painting each other which I thought it was great.
They also had a wood-splitting competition. I was so proud of my siblings – my brothers both got first in their age-categories and Megan got third in hers. The winner got a hatchet as a prize. I love this picture. 🙂

Another popular competition was the pie-baking competition. SO many people entered pies, and they served what was left after judging as dessert for supper. Yum.
After supper there was a bonfire, singing, a pretty sky, and more 9-Square playing. This is the shorter version for the younger kids.
And of course the evening ended with dancing! I sadly didn’t get that many good pictures of dancing and especially not ones without people’s faces in them, but here’s a blurry version.
And we shall end with more string-light bokeh. ❤
It was such a fun day… and now I can’t wait until the Spring Fling! I’ll post more pictures then. 🙂 Meanwhile, I hope you enjoyed looking through these photos!

Ooh this looks like so much fun!!! I LOVE how aesthetic and fall(ish) the backdrop is ❤ and nine square is so fun! We have a wooden version at my house and it’s always so fun whenever friends come over!! 😁

I love the fall backdrop too! And ah, isn’t nine square great? A wooden version sounds excellent! I’ve only used PVC pipe and metal pipe + straps versions, but the wooden one sounds sturdy.

What fun! I love all those cute little pumpkins. They’re so beautifully aesthetic altogether. I used to play four square, and it was really fun, so I think I might have enjoyed playing the nine square game. Thanks for sharing!

Aww, beautiful! I would love to go to a fall festival sometime! Nine Square is one of my favorite games! The sense of accomplishment when you get to be king (or queen)…..I haven’t played in awhile. I should get back into it. Maybe I can convince my siblings to play with me XD

I’m not sure that my running or wood-splitting skills are good enough to enter a competition, but I can bake a pretty tasty pie. 😉 The coloring pages look fun too! I would probably spend most of my time coloring. XD Looks like a beautiful and exciting event! Love the zinnias and lights. ❤️

So I do live in the country portion of New England… But your posts always make me feel like selling my house and bringing my family out to the farmland. Ha, ha. 🙂 It all sounds like simple perfection. I just love it!!

It really is, I will say that! I do love the changing seasons, and you can’t beat some of the historical charm and character of New England. 🙂 But I feel as though the fast-paced life is trying to creep its way into our little town, and there are definitely moments that I want to run away to a simpler way of doing things. I suppose that even here, we can make choices that keep life simple and focused on what matters! 🙂

Lots of fall events happening! I loved the blurry dancing photo. Blurry photos are my favorite but I always do them by accident. Do you have any tips?

Yes indeed! I like blurry photos too, hehe. If you don’t have a DSLR, you can try focusing on something close-up (like your finger), then quickly removing that object and snapping a picture before the camera has time to auto-focus again. If you *do* have a DSLR, just press the button halfway to focus and then twist the focus ring at the end of the lens to blur. 🙂 Hope that helps!

Well Allison there weren’t much fall festivals here in Swaziland due to COVID but after reading this bog, I’m hundred percent sure these festivals were fun to attend!
