It’s time for my annual Christmas decorating post! I didn’t go quite as all-out this year since I have a new baby and a ton of Etsy work taking up my time. But I still managed to put together some festive-looking decor that I’m excited to show you guys today. Enjoy!

I made this year’s wreath entirely of holly, because as I mentioned in another post, our bushes are LOADED with berries this year. So pretty!

Unfortunately our first wreath hanger kept falling so this guy is a little the worse for wear, eheh. Not too bad though.

The main new decorations this year are my bow garlands! I bought a big spool of red velvet ribbon, originally to make bows for our Christmas tree, but they ended up being a little large as you’ll see later. Instead I strung them on twine and added some dried oranges and yay, I think they’re cute!

I used a bow-tying tutorial from @thekwendyhome on Instagram. The garland was light enough to hang with masking tape, which I covered by sliding the bows over top of it. I felt like a genius. 😛

Are you ready for the big Christmas tree reveal? It is… *drum roll* a cute little Norfolk Island Pine!

I got it from Lowe’s because I didn’t want an artificial tree, but Sully’s not a huge fan of finding + setting up a real tree. So we got a Christmas bush instead and are both delighted with the result. My mom has one of these houseplants that is literally like 7 feet tall, so I’m hoping it will grow into an actual tree in future years. 🙂

I also dried a bunch more orange slices this year. They turned out nice and small and cute because I used clementines this time. And the size was perfect for our baby tree!

I also made this ornament for Sophia. 🙂 (You can purchase your own custom birth flower ornament on my Etsy shop here.) I won the beautiful handpainted ornament from a giveaway by Sofie Swetter, and the little baby boots are from my own first Christmas or thereabouts.

I used a long strand of fairy lights to decorate the tree since their small size fit the plant better. I strung the rest of them over the TV stand and covered it with greenery and more orange slices.

I love the warm orange lights shining through the greenery and citrus. ❤

I set up our beautiful wooden Nativity on the piano this year, adorned with a sprig of holly.

I had an extra bow which I placed it precariously on one of my houseplants in the kitchen, haha.

And that’s about it, except for a lot of holly sprigs in vases about the house. Fairly low-key but still so pretty and cozy I think!
Which decoration was your favorite? Would you get a “Christmas bush”?
Thanks so much for reading, my friends, and have a lovely day!

I love it all, Allison! You have an eye for decoration! I love the warm colors of green, gold and red. I know in recent years, purple is the new Christmas color, and that’s ok. But I do miss seeing the more cozy colors like you have. 🙂
I do miss decorating our home. I know that’s not what Christmas is about, but it always brings me joy. But maybe I’ll just revisit this blog post anytime I miss it. 🙂
Thank you for sharing such beautiful, peaceful pictures, friend! Many blessings to you and your precious family!

Aww why thank you! I’m glad you like the decor too. I didn’t realize purple was a Christmas color! I do love purple but I agree, the classic ones seem extra cozy to me.
I would miss decorating too. ❤️ I’m praying that by next Christmas you will be able to!
