Field Days {a Collection of Poems}

Hello friends!

Recently I’ve been writing some down memories of farm life from my growing-up years – there are so many good stories to preserve! I wanted to share a few of those poems with you today.

Since many of the experiences in these sketches happened within the history of this blog, I dug through the archives and chose some (very old) photos to re-edit for the post. If you’ve been following for long enough, you may recognize some of the pictures or experiences in the poems.

Enjoy a trip back to my childhood. 🙂

Mary’s Song {a Christmas Poem}

Hello friends!

I wanted to continue my (almost) tradition of sharing a nativity-themed piece of writing in preparation for Christmas. As usual, I’ve interspersed the piece with pretty Christmas photos, this time of my family’s beautifully decorated house. But this is a poem rather than a short story, so I’ll also share it as an unbroken whole at the end of the post.

I hope you enjoy reading this as you prepare to celebrate our Savior’s birth. ❤

A Collection of Poems & Golden Skies

Hello friends!

It’s been a long, long time since I shared my poetry on this blog. I’ve been writing a lot these past few months in preparation for an exciting project, and decided to post a small collection of favorites as a sneak peek for you guys. I mostly write blank verse – a.k.a. non-rhyming poetry – so if that bothers you, feel free to read this as prose instead. 😉

Either way, I hope you enjoy these poems and the accompanying golden hour photos!

Bible Journaling + Hand Lettering Inspo

Hello friends!

This is the last post before I take a break for the wedding + honeymoon, ah! More on that at the end of the post. Anyway, I decided to catch you guys up on some recent Bible journaling, and then realized that… I haven’t made one of these posts for a LONG time, oops. Scratch the “recent” part.

For years now I’ve been hand lettering my favorite verse or two from each chapter of the Bible as I read through it. I’ve made it to the book of Acts so far, but today we’ll just go through some of my favorite pieces from Daniel through Malachi.

Whether you’re here for the Bible verses or the hand lettering inspiration, I hope you enjoy this collection of journaling!

Q&A – Sully and Allison

Hello, friends!

This post was so fun to make! Sully came over and we sat on the couch, ate jellybeans, and took turns typing out our answers. Well, we collaborated on some until Sully wrote something weird and I was like WAIT WHAT I DO NOT APPROVE TAKE MY INITIAL OFF. :’D Ohhh, Sully. *shakes head*

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy reading our answers to your questions as much as we enjoyed answering them! Also it snowed six inches recently and I got a bunch of pretty pictures to include here. So yeah, I’m excited for this post! Let’s get started!

I’M ENGAGED!!

AHHHHH. GUYS GUYS GUYS, Sully proposed to me! And I said yes! I’M ENGAGED. We’re both thrilled and life is crazy and wedding planning is slightly overwhelming, but WOOHOO! I don’t usually use multiple exclamation points BUT I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD RIGHT NOW!!

Ahem. I’ve been waiting for such a time as this to tell you guys the story of how Sully and I met. It’s a hilariously memorable tale (especially the first part), and now I can supplement it with how he proposed! I HAVE A FIANCÉ. HELP. Okay, I need to settle down…

Oh, and since I want you guys to have a chance to “meet” Sully, we’ll be doing a Q&A post! After you read this, drop as many questions as you want in the comments and he and I will answer some of them in another post. 🙂

Now, here’s our story.

Thoughts on… {Gratitude}

This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for fear. That’s a strange statement, I know, but it’s true: I’m grateful for what worrying has taught me. I’ve struggled with anxiety my entire life, and this year I’ve realized that as frustrating as that journey has been, I wouldn’t trade it even if I could. It’s been an incredible blessing in disguise, and today I wanted to explain why.

Here’s a little piece of my story. 🙂
