A Sunny Winter Walk in the Woods

Hello, friends!

Today I want to take you on a virtual walk through the forest with me. ❤ I found so many odd trees, lovely ferns, and pretty creeks on my little hike the other day. I haven’t traipsed around our farm like this by myself for quite a while, so it was really fun and refreshing to soak in a warm February day and take photos of the interesting bits of nature I discovered.

Enjoy this sunny winter photoshoot!

Farewell, 2021 {My Year in Review}

Hello, my friends!

I don’t know about you, but I kinda loved 2021. 🙂 I’m going to remember this year forever, and to help with that, I’m here with another year-in-review post. I always make these to record highlights of my year, favorite photos I’ve taken, blog stats, goals and resolutions, etc. Enjoy a little scrapbook of my past twelve months!

I Got a New Camera! {Forest Photoshoot}

Hello, my friends!

My friend Aria recently sent me her Nikon D7200 camera because she couldn’t sell it and also because she’s amazing. 😀 I haven’t upgraded my camera in five years (see my… interesting first photos with it here), so I was thrilled that Aria kinda forced me to get a new camera. Otherwise I’d probably go on using my old, comfortable Nikon D3400 forever.

Anyway, I tried it out and definitely noticed an improvement in the quality, clarity, and focus of these photos. I’m curious to see if you guys notice too or if it’s just me as the photographer. Let’s find out!

Enjoy these lush photos from a late-summer walk and some Maggie-the-yellow-Lab-cuteness!

Otherwise, onward to tasty pictures!

Explore with Me 005 | Nature Collecting

Hello, my friends!

It’s been so long since I’ve done an “explore with me” post. Remember those? I started this series to motivate myself (and you!) to get outside, even when it’s not super appealing, like in winter. I take you guys with me on a walk around our farm, adding in a little twist or art/photography prompt that you can try where you live as well.

Today’s prompt is to bring a bag, tote, or other container along on your walk and collect things you find interesting. If you live in the city, it could be man-made bits and pieces – coins, old papers, a lost toy, etc. – but since I live in the country and have plenty of woods to roam through, I decided to collect some nature.

(Please note, of course, to take only what is allowed where you live! A park is not the best place to collect specimens of live plants, for instance. 😉 If you have a decent-sized yard, you can find interesting things just outside your house, on your own land.)

So, want to see what I found in the woods? Let’s go!

Etcetera #14 {Green Sand, a Wedding, and Making Apple Butter}

Hello, dears!

Yay, it’s time for another random post! If you’re new to etcetera posts, here’s what we do: every few months, I collect a bunch of miscellaneous photos I haven’t shared and pack them into their own post. Basically this is a big mashup of mini adventures and pretty pictures to hopefully brighten your day as well as preserve memories that I can look back on. (My goodness, this is a long-sentenced intro.)

For some of these photos, we’ll have to go back in time to the days of green grass and fall leaves, but I figured you guys wouldn’t mind some sunshine. 🙂 Sound good? Let’s do this!

A Collection of Fall Photography

We’re going to cover fall harvests of gourds, pumpkins, apples, and persimmons, plus some pretty fall leaves and landscapes. Hopefully you’ll enjoy scrolling through some cheerful colors and reading the little stories behind the photos. 🙂
