How to Make an Orange Octopus

I was playing with my food the other day (heh heh), and ended up with a cute little octopus that doubled as an orange sunflower on the other side. ๐Ÿ™‚ย I decided to post a simple tutorial so you can enjoy them both too! ๐Ÿ˜€

You Will Need…

orange octopus 1 (1280x853)

  • an orange or clementine
  • a sharp knife (I used a serrated one)
  • a black Sharpie

Step One:

orange octopus 2 (1280x853)

ย Starting at the top, divide the orange peel into eight sections running halfway down the side. (If you’re not too sure of your cutting skills, you may want to draw guidlines with a Sharpie. ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Step Two:

orange octopus 3 (1280x853)

When you start cutting,ย try not to cut much past the peel into the orange or everything will get juicy. After the tentacles/petals are cut, peel them carefully away from the orange. Looking good!

Step Three:

Finally, draw suitably adorable eyes and a tiny smile, and display your octopus or sunny bloom with pride…. Or you could always eat it. XD

What do you think? Aren’t they cute? Which is your favorite?

Thanks for reading, my lovely friends!

    1. Thanks, Grace!
      P. S. Your letter is coming along pretty well! I remade the envelope because I didn’t especially like how it turned out, and I think it looks much better now. ๐Ÿ˜€ Now I need to find out where Mom put your letter so I can finish writing my reply! O.o XD

  1. Oh my goodness, that looks so cute! XD And I laughed out loud at “I was playing with my food the other day (heh heh)” XD (I seem to laugh out loud too much… O.o) I wonder if this could double as an April Fool’s Prank and I could surprise somebody with it? XD

      1. You’re welcome! Hehe. XD I will! And haha, I have some in place – my siblings and older-brother-figure all come back from travels today and I have a nice evil arsenal of pranks in store for them. >:) LOL! What about you?

        1. Hee hee. XD Nope, I didn’t really do anything. I remember one year on April Fools’ when we were trying to hatch chicks, I told Megan, “MEGAN THE CHICKS HATCHED THE CHICKS HATCHED COME LOOK” even though it was weeks before they were supposed to – and she fell for it. XD

  2. So cute! I liked the octopus the best! ๐Ÿ˜€ I like to play with my food too. ๐Ÿ˜‰ You know something funny? When we eat mashed potatoes, when we (meaning my brother and I) put a slice of butter in them, we bury it, and pack the taters around, making what we call a “butter cave”! When you go to eat it, there’s a pool of melted butter! So yummy! Anyway, I thought of that when I thought of playing with food, lol! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Thanks, Livy! Me too. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Heh heh. XD When we were little we’d try to guess what food the other person buried in the pile of mashed potatoes. XD XD XD HA HA HA oh dear…
