Hello friends!
I’m back with a nature photoshoot after a short Thanksgiving break. I hope your holidays were great! Mine were a lot of fun but quite jam-packed. Four different Thanksgiving dinners filled me right up. :O
Anyway, I took advantage of the recent frosty weather to play around with my macro lens (aff. link). It’s amazing what beautiful details you can find in an ordinary town yard with a close-up camera and some focused observation.
Enjoy these shots of some beautiful ice crystals!

I love how frost edges every leaf with icy lace. And for some plants it highlights tiny hairs with silver.

Grass blades were one of the most fun subjects to shoot because of the crystals running all along the edges.

I edited these photos with a lot of depth in the shadows to make the silvery ice really pop.

The sunny greens contrast nicely with the chilly frost in this one.

Most of the ice has melted off this leaf, which is now covered in tiny water drops.

Ooh you can see the shape of the crystals really well here. So cool (ha, literally)!

There probably would have been more frost had I gone outside a bit earlier in the morning, but then I wouldn’t get such nice sunlight, so I think it was for the best. 🙂

The shape of these crystals almost look like snowflakes clinging to this old leaf.

One of my favorites from the shoot. The ice crystals look painfully sharp and poky along this blade.

We’ll end with a not-so-frosty picture of two bright holly berries. They look a little like pomegranates up close.

I hope you enjoyed that short but sparkly photoshoot! It was a lot of fun to take, despite getting rather cold. Macro photography never fails to amaze me with its revelations of delicate details we trample over every day. Our Creator is the most intricate of artists. ❤
Which picture was your favorite?
Thanks so much for reading, my friends, and have a lovely day!

P. S. Photos taken with my Nikon D7200, a 50mm lens, and this macro lens extension (aff. link). Edited with Lightroom.

Hi Alison. I really do love these photos. The crystals look like they’re made of glass. Yes, our creator really is the most intricate artist. Have a fabulous weekend. Xx

Glad you had a great Thanksgiving! Wow, that’s a lot of dinners- good for leftovers. 😉
Due to our financial situation, we’re on food stamps. But with it we could still get a turkey! Such a blessing!
What beautiful photos! I agree: God created such detail! Love the crystals glistening from the sunlight. I don’t think I could pick a favorite though I’m partial to the 7th picture and the one right after it, with frost on the brown leaf. You have a good eye: it does look like snowflake patterns!
Thank you for sharing, Allison! God bless you!

Hehe indeed it was a lot of good food.
Yay, I’m so glad you could still have a turkey! How was your Thanksgiving?
Such beautiful details for sure. Glad you liked the photos and thought the frost on the leaf looks like snowflakes too. 🙂
Thanks for reading as always, Valentine. Holiday blessings to you!

Leading up to Thanksgiving was hard. We’ve been trying to sell our house (because we can’t afford the mortgage) since May. The housing market has been bad. In addition, there are other hardships. But thankfully on the actual day, Thanksgiving was good, thank you! 🙂
Unfortunately, my Daddy’s symptoms are returning again… I’m trying to meditate on Scripture.
I look forward to your posts, Allison! It brings such joy. I pray God blesses you!

Aww I’m so sorry to hear that Valentine. The housing market is crazy here and houses are still selling for insane amounts so it’s hard to buy one. Thankfully I love our little rental. Praying you can sell the house and find a better situation! Glad the day of Thanksgiving was fun.
So sorry to hear that. I will continue praying. ❤️
Thanks for being a lovely reader of this blog!
