Decorating Our Home for Christmas

Hello friends!

It’s finally time for my annual Christmas tree/Christmas decorating post! I went a lot simpler this year than last since there’s so much going on this month and I didn’t want to make too much more work for myself. I still added just enough to make our house feel festive though, especially in the evenings. ❤

Enjoy this small tour around my house with some cozy photographs!

Of course, we have to start with our Christmas tree! I cut down a little cedar from my family’s farm again this year and Sully helped me decorate it. It’s a bit scraggly and leaning to one side, but I think it’s charming. 🙂

I reused the dried orange slice ornaments I made last year. They held up fairly well, although some of the slices look a bit darker than I remembered. These are such fun filler ornaments for when you’re starting out and don’t have quite enough ornaments for a whole tree yet. Candy canes are great for that too.

I started selling birth month flower ornaments on my Etsy shop this year and made these two for our very own. I love that I found a way to put flowers even on our Christmas tree. :’D You know me – flowers everywhere and always, please.

Sully set up our beautiful wooden nativity set. This was such a lovely wedding gift we get to enjoy every year!

I also got to reuse the paper bag snowflakes I made last year. They folded up well for storage and looked just as pretty this go ’round.

A couple more snowflakes in black-and-white. I hung these in the office/studio area. They’re wintry enough that I might keep them up past Christmas; we’ll see.

I made a wreath for our front door again, this time featuring lots of privet berries and some holly from the bushes in our yard.

Instead of hanging garlands everywhere like last year, I decorated with small sprigs of greenery in vases. A lot easier and a lot less mess to clean up! Plus it doesn’t get brown as quickly.

Man I love this photo. ❤ I put out both of the cardboard houses from last year, adding this one to my year-round moss and candle centerpiece. Battery-powered twinkle lights inside the house light up every evening.

I used the leftover privet berries from wreath-making as a big bouquet for our kitchen breakfast nook and filled the tiny watering can vase with more cedar.

We’re enjoying displaying our Christmas cards on the refrigerator as they arrive in the mail!

As always, our Christmas decorating wouldn’t be complete without the tiny plastic Christmas tree Sully and I picked out together while we were dating. Ah, good memories. 😀

I hope you enjoyed that brief but cozy tour. I’d love to hear how you’ve decorated your house for the holidays in the comments below!

See last year’s Christmas decorating post here for how I created some of these decorations.

Thanks so much for reading, and have a lovely day!

  1. Beautifully decorated, Allison! I love the ornaments you made for you and Sully! I love flowers too. 😉
    The cardboard box is darling!
We put out a large painting my mom did outside (based from a Christmas card) and have a spotlight for it. And of course decorated our tree with the ornaments we’ve accumulated over the years. 🙂
Thank you for sharing your cozy home with us! God bless you!

  3. Those dried orange slice ornaments look so pretty with the light coming through them from the background🌞!
OK, OK I know you’re really creative but how did you make a snowflake out of a paper bag and it looks so pretty😂🤯?! Those look like the lowkey fancy winter decorations I’ve seen at a few stores. It’s strange how we don’t get snow in winter but have snowy decorations at stores – guess we can at least pretend😂😆.
I love the cardboard houses photo too😍! Especially the slightly blurry circles of light in the background🕯!
    Beautiful pictures as always Allison🌚.
Hope you have all been well🌹.

    1. They really do!
Haha well thanks! I learned from an Instagram account I follow called @thekwendyhome. That’s so funny that you never get snow but still put up snowy decorations there. XD
      Yesss same!
Thanks so much for reading and commenting, Sabrina! It’s great to hear from you again. We’re doing well, very busy with holiday things, although I have a slight fever today. :/ How are you?
