Babies & Blooms Retreat

Earlier this month, I got to be part of a special little meetup/retreat for a few of my friends who just had babies. Aria’s mom loves to host special parties, and this one was as beautifully fancy and fun as always! Enjoy a few photos from the weekend, including happy Sophia portraits, cute pets, and DELICIOUS fancy food.

The 8 hour drive with an 8-month old actually went surprisingly well, praise the Lord! We met up with our friends at about 5PM, had a yummy homemade pizza supper, and got settled into the fifth-wheel camper which was our own little guest house.

Sully’s favorite part of the accommodations was the cows right outside the RV. 🙂 He misses the Jersey cows he worked with on his family’s dairy farm growing up.

Cute little pup! I love this fur color.

Their farm is also home to several kitties.

One of the things I always look forward to about these retreats is the delicious made-from-scratch food! Aria’s mom is an amazing cook. This was breakfast one day. ❤

I’ve recently gotten into sewing clothes and couldn’t resist making matching outfits for Sophia and I. This set took a lot of trial and error, but I think it turned out cute. Let me know if you guys would be interested in a post about the clothes I’ve made so far.

Sophia got some extra “Daddy Time” which she is always excited about. I never get tired of seeing them together. ❤

Of course, I got plenty of time with my girl as well. 😉 I sewed this smocked dress for her as well, but made it mostly out of already-sewn components that were given to me by Sully’s grandma.

Now it’s time for the tea party! This was the highlight of the week. Aria’s mom worked so hard to plan and execute a special menu for us.

As an artist, I always appreciate how beautifully presented the food is as well as how delicious it tastes.

(Side note: I accidentally took these photos in JPEG instead of RAW. *cue photographer heartbreak* So I was not able to edit them very well, SIGH.) For sweets, we had lavender shortbread, mini key lime pies, and poppyseed scones.

Also this decadent pistachio-rose-saffron fudge. SO rich and complex and floral and delicious.

Guys, I got to try caviar for the first time! :O I felt VERY fancy, hehe. Have you had it before? It had the exact texture of those little fruit-flavored poppers you can get at some ice cream stores, you know? But the flavor was salty/fishy/olive-tasting kind of…? Then we had deconstructed tuna sushi (one of my favorite things on the menu), and Greek spring rolls, which were a big hit.

The most beautiful tea party sandwiches! And these were so unique: radish, butter, and salt. The butter was so thickly spread and so quality that it almost tasted like soft cheese.

After our delicious meal, we called the guys in from their Monopoly game at our camper to come take some family pictures. Thanks to Aria for getting these for us. HAHA the one of Sophia eating Sully’s shirt… XD

Sophia has the most infectious grin; I love it so much. And we snapped a picture of just Sully and I as an early 3rd-anniversary shot. It’s been a wonderful three years – I love you so very much, Sully! ❤

I took a lot of portraits not included here and covered a couple faces below out of consideration for people’s privacy, but I still wanted to share this sweet picture to end the post. ❤ What a lovely weekend with lovely friends!

I hope you all enjoyed all the fun party foods and pictures. I was last at Aria’s parents’ farm in the fall of 2023 when none of us three were pregnant and Adrian wasn’t even engaged! A lot can change so fast in this stage of life, so it was a real blessing to connect and spend time together while our babies are still little.

Which of the tea party foods would you most like to try?

Thanks so much for reading, my friends, and have a lovely day!

  2. What a beautiful gathering and yes! I would love to see your clothing creations! My mom sewed nearly all of my clothes until I was in high school. I really had different styles than most of the girls and sometimes, they were not what I would want to wear but I was styling! Love to you little family!

    1. I will have to make that post then! I imagine it would have been hard to not have storebought clothes, but it’s also so special that your mom made them. Memories! Thanks for the comment, Wendy!

  3. Wow! Aria’s mom is fantastic at hosting beautiful parties/get-togethers! The food looks too pretty to eat and the way it was laid out is lovely. The home itself from what I can see is beautiful! So kind of her to do this for the mothers.

I love the outfits for you and Sophia! You’re so talented, Allison! Both of you are so pretty. 🙂

Beautiful family pictures too! Thank you for sharing with us, friend! So glad you got to go! Many blessings to you!
