Mystery Revealed! #6

Dun-duh-duh-dun! I am now going to reveal the mysteries from this post. (Click on the link if you want to take a guess quick before I reveal them!) Ahem. *Clears throat.*

Wow, did anyone ever notice how neat computer keyboards are?

Hmm… the crayfish tank needs to be cleaned soon – it’s getting algae on it.

#1. Yeast! (I’m rather proud of this one. 🙂 I was doing a science experiment and noticed how pretty the yeast was up close. It was too pretty to show you only one picture, so here are two!)

Mystery Pictures Post #6

Hey guys! In my last post I said, “stay tuned for mystery pictures!” or something like that, and here they are! At first I thought I would post them another day, because… IT’S SNOWING HERE! LIKE, A LOT! LIKE TWO FEET OF SNOW! Ahem. So, of course I took pictures, but I decided to post about that another day, because I’ll probably be getting even more pictures before it stops snowing. So anyway… Here they are!

Oh, right. If you don’t know how to play, here are the rules: I will show you a few close-up pictures of ordinary objects that don’t look so ordinary when they’re close up, and you try to guess what they are. Just comment below the post with your guesses, and I will reveal the answers and the winners next Saturday, the 30th! (Update: see the end of the post for answers!) Guess away! I can’t wait to read all of your guesses – correct or not! (Actually, it’s probably more fun to read incorrect guesses, just to see what you thought they were. XD) Whenever I post mystery pictures, I always wonder whether they were too easy, too hard, or just right. I’m guessing these might be a tad too easy on most, but hard for some, so I hope it turns out to be just right!

WordCrafters: The Story Chain

Hey guys, I have some exciting news! I have created a sort of challenge thingy where bloggers can enter and write a story together, bit by bit. (Josie helped a lot with this challenge too. Thanks Josie!) The basic idea is this: One person starts a story, and other bloggers each add on to it until it is finished. Then we can read a whole story written by different people!

Here are the details. If you have read all of the rules and still feel confused, feel free to ask Josie or me your questions.

You can sign up from today, January 2nd – January 14. Just drop Josie or me a comment saying that you want to sign up. Josie has created a character for me, and I’m going to start off the story using that character. Here is the character:

Name: Alalia Celinette

Age: 11

Gender: Female

Personality: Very shy, and loves to read.

What she thinks about: If magic were real

After I post the start of the story, I will tag one of the people who signed up to continue it. You may optionally include an illustration or photograph of your own or from the web to go along with your part of the story. Try to finish your part within 3 days, and you don’t have to make it very long. More than a few sentences and less than a few pages would be good. Please make your story G-rated – no inappropriate language, violence, etc. (It is perfectly fine to have a character die, just don’t make it super gory.)

Both Josie and I will update a page on our blogs where you can read the story so far. After you finish your part of the story, just send Josie and me a link to your post, and we will add it to the WordCrafters page. On that page you will also see a numbered list of the people who signed up. I will make the list after the end of the signups by randomizing all of the people’s names and assigning them each a number, except Josie and I have already decided that I will start the story and Josie will end it. Tag the person after you on the list by dropping them a comment on their blog to let them know it’s their turn. (For instance, if you are the 3rd person on the list, tag the 4th person to continue the story after you.) I will post the first part of the story on January 15.

Oh, and one more thing: when you write your part of the story, you can put the WordCrafters button on your blog sidebar, if you like.

My Word Collection, a Poem, and a Pun

Ok, so I have this little notebook where I write down ideas that I have, and once upon a time, I “collected” words that ended in “et” but sound like a long “a” at the end – for example, “bouquet.” Really strange. I know. But it was also pretty interesting, and I collected a lot more words than I thought. In fact, I collected 15!

Creation Series: Day 7

After all that he had done, God rested. Not that he needed the rest – he NEVER needs rest – but to set an example for us, to show us how we should set aside a day of rest, a day to worship him.

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. ²And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. ³So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.
