Foggy Wanderings

Hello, dears!

I took these photos one morning when a light fog covered our farm. Unfortunately, it cleared up pretty quickly, but I was able to get some nice pictures before it did! I love the way fog makes everything just a little bit magical and enchanted-looking, kind of the way snow does in winter. 🙂 Enjoy a foggy walk with me!

Just Hatched {Chick Photoshoot}

Hello, dears!

So we have this incubator for hatching eggs, and the 22 eggs from our chickens just hatched! Well, several of them, anyway. Some chicks are probably hatching while I type. 🙂 Of course I had to take pictures of their adorable fluffiness, so prepare yourselves for a mini cuteness overload!

Double Exposure + Experimenting with Self Portraits

Hello, dears!

I had so much fun making this post and editing the pictures for today! A few weeks ago, I spent a while practicing self portrait photography because I found a spot of beautiful lighting in our house and wanted to use it somehow. 😛 I went a little overboard with the editing, ending up with some pretty and unique double exposures and black and white photos.

I hope you enjoy these experiments, and maybe get some inspiration for creative ways to edit portraits (your own or of others)!

September {Poetry & Pictures}

Hello, dears!

Today I have some more poetry + fall aesthetics for you. I’m really excited about both! I went outside just as the sun was setting the other day to get some September-y photos and then had fun editing to make them even more so. I interspersed a few pictures throughout the poem and added the rest at the end because I couldn’t bear to leave them out. 🙂

If you’re excited for fall, you might enjoy this post! If you’re not – well, maybe you’ll be excited for it now. 😛

Enjoy, my friends!

Etcetera #9

Hello, dears!

I’m back with another etcetera post today! If you’re new here, I use these posts to combine all the “orphan photos” and mini topics that aren’t quite big enough for their own post. It’s basically a virtual scrapbook of little moments from the past two months. 🙂

Enjoy this collection of summer adventures, memorable explorations, golden hour photos, etc.!

Of Birthdays, Cake, and Lots of Yellow

Hello, dears!

My sister Megan recently had a birthday which involved cake, friends, a scavenger hunt, and TONS of yellow. It also involved me, the sister who took probably hundreds of pictures because it was so much fun to capture the joy and laughter, plus the pretty party decorations. 😛

If you like cake, yellow, or being happy, you will probably enjoy this post.

Morning Light Photography

Hello, dears!

Today I have some more lovely light photography for you! Instead of a photoshoot at golden hour, I took these in the morning. Sometimes I go outside to feed the rabbits or something and find too much beauty to leave unphotographed, which naturally means I postpone my other plans and take some pictures before the light changes. 🙂

This time, instead of editing my photos as usual, I decided just to let the pictures shine as they are – terrible pun intended. I did edit a few very minimally, but for the most part these are straight out of the camera!

Enjoy the results of me wandering around the yard with a camera in dreamy lighting. 🙂

Sunflower at Golden Hour {Sisters Photoshoot}

Hello, dears!

I’m back with the promised golden hour photoshoot today! My sister Megan received a beautiful sunflower shirt for review from this shop, so of course we had to get a bunch of pictures for her post. (Also I literally just realized I copied her title after I finished writing the post. :’D ) We had fun finding different photo locations and attempting to think of different poses, heh heh. I hope you enjoy these golden photos!

Chiaroscuro Apples {Experiments in Photography}

Hello, dears!

We recently got a few bushels of apples to make applesauce with, and I took the opportunity of such an abundant photography prop to experiment with a different photography style. In case you were wondering, “chiaroscuro” refers to an effect where part of the subject is lit up while the other recedes into darkness. It makes for really dramatic, artistic-looking photos, and was also used a lot by master painters like Rembrandt.

SO, now that we’re done with the little word lecture, let’s get on to the photos! 😀 I really enjoyed attempting to make ordinary apples look special and yet homey at the same time. Enjoy my experiments!
