Falling Leaves & Autumn Things

It finally feels like fall here! We’ve been taking family walks in the evening with Sully wearing Sophia in a baby carrier. It’s so fun and so cute, and a beautiful time of year to do it.

Although the weather is crisp and lovely, the leaves still are barely turning for the most part. I couldn’t wait any longer to do some fall photography, so I went out into my yard to see what snippets of autumn I could conjure up. I hope you enjoy the results!

Thoughts on… {a Living Sacrifice}

I meant to make this post way earlier, but it’s been a rough few weeks. My mysterious fever kept coming back, baffling my midwife and the ER doctor alike. The latter prescribed antibiotics for a possible UTI and so far, it seems to be working! Praise God. We had a couple other appointments and concerns and lots of fussy-baby-sleep-deprived nights, but I think we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

So today I wanted to share some thoughts I wrote down a while ago. Hopefully they will encourage you as well as myself. This post speaks especially to motherhood, unsurprisingly, but the concept of “living sacrifice” applies to any season. Enjoy some thoughtful words and cute pictures of baby Sophia!

Introducing Sophia Joy {She’s Here!}

Well guys, the last two weeks have been a wild ride. Sophia Joy was born on Monday, August 26th, weighing 8 lbs. 12 oz and looking adorable right from the start. I’ve had a pretty rough recovery, but I’m finally feeling good enough to make a post!

Enjoy this darling photoshoot of our sweet girl while I tell you a bit of her birth story, for those of you who enjoy that sort of thing. 😉

Etcetera #26 {Glows, Sparks, Fireworks, Etc.}

Despite how long it’s been since one of these posts, I actually have a normal number of photos to share with you instead of an overwhelming horde! Today’s collection of random pictures includes a large amount of flowers and sunsets and other glowy things. Enjoy. ❤

Our Baby Girl Nursery Tour (…Kinda)

I’m so excited to finally share pictures of Sophia’s nursery! Well, it’s not exactly a nursery – it’s more like two separate “baby nooks” in two rooms of our house. I’ll explain more about that later. Anyway, I’ve had so much fun making and painting things for these spaces and I think they turned out really cute.

Read on for inspiration on small-space nurseries, as well as some affiliate links to my favorite products.

Apple Picking {Self-Portrait Photoshoot}

This year the small apple tree in our backyard was loaded with knobby, spotty apples. I thought they’d still make good applesauce though, so one foggy morning I decided to go out and pick all I could. I used to do self-portrait photoshoots before I was pregnant, so I decided to dress up and take some pictures just for fun. Enjoy scrolling through the results!

Alexander Family Vacation {2024}

Every year Sully’s family goes on vacation together, and this year was bigger than ever: 25+ people in one house for a week, including 12 kids under 12. :O

I was SO excited but also a bit daunted, especially with being 34 weeks pregnant and remembering the traumatic ending of the last vacation. But it turned out to be a blast. Since I’m not posting as often these days, I decided to cram all the best photos into one post. Read on for plenty of cute kids and fun adventures!

Dewy Garden in Macro

My garden is soldiering on despite constant attacks from deer, groundhogs, rabbits, and slugs. I’m doing my best to help it along and surprisingly, the plants are still growing! I went out to do some weeding one morning, found each leaf dripping with perfect dewdrops, and immediately went back inside for my camera.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how much I love photographing tiny waterdrops. I used my macro lens (aff. link) this time for extra refreshing sparkly goodness. Enjoy!
