Black & White Winter Photoshoot

Hello friends!

The weather has been awfully cold here recently, so going outdoors for exercise has felt a bit daunting. However, Sully and I braved the cold one day to take a walk in a local park. Everything was windy, brown, and soggy from a recent flood. But I took my camera along and tried to pick out interesting bits of nature to show off beautifully in a black and white format.

Did I succeed in making interesting photos from an ugly landscape? Read on to see what you think. 🙂

Indoor Photoshoot {Black & White Edition}

Hello, my friends!

When I was taking pictures for the last post, I kept coming across interesting patterns and scenes which would look perfect in black and white. I ended up with too many of those to squeeze into the first post, so I figured I’d collect them all here for you guys. B&W photos are a great way to capture interesting shapes and textures if the colors and lighting aren’t that great (or even if they are). I had to resist making all the photos monochromatic once I saw how nice these ones looked, haha.

Okay, enjoy some low-key photos of random details from around our house!

Hidden Treasures & Airplane Skies {a Golden Hour Walk}

Hello, my friends!

I have more golden hour pictures for you! While on a walk the other evening, I got in that photographing mood where I try and make pretty pictures out of the most random or unphotogenic things. It was great. 😀 So today I present you with a selection of dramatic thorns, color treasure hunts, airplane clouds, and candles in windows.

Want to go on a walk with me? Well yay! Let’s go.

Light & Shadow {Experiments in Indoor Photography}

Hello, dears!

I had so much fun with the pictures for this post! Usually I just take photos of pretty things, but this time I pushed myself to create photos that tell stories rather than just show what’s already there. Over the past week or so, I’ve been finding interesting patterns of light and shadow around golden hour and incorporating them in my photos. We live in an old farmhouse with big windows that make great photo opportunities, but you can also use any sort of windows, blinds, lamps, and so on.

Light and shadows are two (free!) things to be happy about, so I think they’re worth noticing. 😉 I hope you guys enjoy these pictures!

Chains, Goats, & Flower Gardens {Golden Hour Photoshoot}

Hello, dears!

How’s that for a random title? I was looking for something like, “A Post Where I Wander Around the Yard and Take Photos of Lots of Random Things at Golden Hour,” but that would be a tad long. It would have been helpfully explanatory, however, since that’s what this post is about. 😉

Walking around and taking pictures is honestly one of my favorite things. It’s so refreshing, plus I get to be creative at the same time. ❤ So yeah, I hope you guys enjoy taking this evening walk with me! 🙂

Experiments with Self Portrait Photography

Hello, dears!

Since I’m the only subject that’s always available for photographs, I’ve gotten a lot of practice in taking camera selfies in the past several months. 😉 Since you guys and I both liked the last self-portrait experiment post (see it here!), I decided to go ahead and edit these in some fun ways, including dramatic B&W, muted/understated filters, and more double exposure photos since I loved how they turned out last time!

It feels a little odd to just post a bunch of pictures of my face, but… I hope you enjoy? XD And maybe you can find some inspiration for your own photography/editing. 🙂 Have fun scrolling!

Explore with Me 003 | “Tongues in Trees” {Tiny Stories in B&W}

Hello, dears!

Today I have a collection of small stories for you – stories in photos, that is. Usually I look for pretty colors or beautiful lighting when taking pictures, but sometimes in winter there’s not a lot of either – especially in the scrubby, ugly part of the woods I was wandering through a while ago. So I switched gears and started looking for interesting textures, specifically things that would look nice in black and white, where colors and lighting wouldn’t matter so much.

Once I started looking for details, I was nearly overwhelmed by all the interesting and pretty things I found everywhere. Hopefully this episode encourages you to enjoy the beauty of nature even when it’s not usually considered beautiful. I’m going to add just short captions to the photos so you can enjoy the stories yourself without too much distraction. 🙂 Enjoy!

Goats, Rabbits, Dogs, Etc. {Adventures in Housesitting}

Hello, dears!

I recently had the opportunity to housesit for some friends. I’d never done that before, so I was excited to “play house” and live by myself for a few days. It was fun! And strangely quiet, after living with six other people. 😛 It was nice to come home and be with my family again, though, where there’s always something going on. 🙂

Most of my responsibilities concerned feeding the animals, so of course I had to get a bunch of photos of them while I was at it. If you like cats, dogs, goats, chickens, rabbits, or all of the above, you might enjoy this post!

Let’s go find some cuteness.
