I Got a New Camera Lens! {+Photo Dump}

Hmm, I’ve made better titles. *Wince* You know you’re a photographer when you’re that excited over a new camera lens. XD BUT SERIOUSLY! I AM EXCITED!

I just ordered a new lens for my camera, and I am loving it! It’s a Nikkor 50 mm f/1.8 lens (see it here on Amazon), in case you were wondering. 🙂 *Update: Whoops, I accidentally said “zoom lens” at first, but I don’t think it’s actually a zoom lens. O.o*  I love all the beautiful blur and bokeh it makes in the background with the subject in sharp focus. The one thing I don’t like is that I can’t get super close-up pictures unless I crop them smaller. But anyway, I’ll keep experimenting, and in the meantime, how would you like to see about a million or so pictures? Okay, maybe closer to a thousand, but still. 😉 😛

First I want to show you the difference between my old lens and my new lens. The next (awful) picture was taken with my old lens at ISO 800.

DSC_1925 (1280x853)

TERRIBLE! But the next picture was taken with my new lens at ISO 800. It’s so much brighter because it goes down to an aperture of 1.8 instead of 4 something, which means it lets in a ton more light and thus makes the entire picture brighter. Ta-daa! (Okay, I know it still isn’t a beautiful picture, but my youngest brother kindly brought the iris in for me to take pictures of with my new lens and I decided to experiment. 🙂 ) So in conclusion, this new lens is way better for indoor photography and other low-light situations.

DSC_1924 (1280x853)

Now for the actually pretty pictures. 🙂 Get ready for lots of raindrops, snails, and flowers!

DSC_1930 (1280x853)

I had to up the ISO quite a bit here so it’s kind of grainy, but I still like it. 🙂

DSC_1944 (1280x853)DSC_1947 (1280x853)DSC_1949 (1280x853)

Ohhhh this next one is one of my favorites!

DSC_1951 (1280x853)DSC_1952 (1280x853)DSC_1956 (1280x853)DSC_1957 (1280x853)

As you can see, it was getting pretty dark when I took this picture. I think it looks kind of neat that way though!

DSC_1998 (1280x853)

I got quite a few pictures of this cute little snail meandering over a bush. 🙂

1 (1280x853)2 (1280x854)4 (1280x853)5 (1280x853)

AWWWWW he’s so cute! 😀

7 (1280x854)8 (1280x853)

↓This poor guy’s shell looks a bit shattered.

9 (1280x854)

The next two photos are a little different. For the first one I shined (or is it shone?) a flashlight close to the drops, and for the second one I used flash. *GASP*, she used flash?! I know it does look a bit flash-y, but I thought it was worth it to capture the neat glittery effect.

Moss pink are such adorable, bright flowers!

DSC_2016 (1280x853)DSC_2017 (1280x853)

Yep, it’s a fly. 🙂

Lily of the Valley flowers are such charming little things, but goodness gracious, their perfume is so strong it nearly knocks you over! (Ha ha, I guess it can be that way with humans too. XD )

DSC_2029 (1280x853)DSC_2047 (1280x853)DSC_2053 (1280x853)

I really like the next picture for some reason. It’s so crisp in the foreground and beautifully blurred in the background.

DSC_2054 (1280x853)DSC_2055 (1280x853)DSC_2059 (1280x853)

Ahh, so pretty!

DSC_2061 (1280x853)DSC_2065 (1280x853)DSC_2068 (1280x853)DSC_2070 (1280x853)DSC_2073 (1280x853)DSC_2079 (1280x853)DSC_2083 (1280x853)

I love this next picture! The blur makes it look so much more professional! 😀

DSC_2090 (1280x853)

Taking pictures of clouds and landscapes isn’t really what this lens is made for (you can’t zoom out far enough), but I did get a decent picture of part of a cloud.

DSC_2094 (1280x853)DSC_2110 (1280x853)DSC_2115 (1280x853)

PHEW! Are you still here? If you are, congratulations on making it through all those pictures. XD I hope you liked them!

Do you think snails are cute? Do you love raindrops on things as much as I do?

Have a lovely day, dear readers!

{Field and Flower}

Last Sunday we had a lovely afternoon.

DSC_1706 (1280x853)DSC_1707 (1280x853)DSC_1713 (1280x853)DSC_1715 (1280x853)

After church we had a belated but absolutely delicious Easter lunch at my grandparent’s house with our cousins.

DSC_1716 (1280x853)DSC_1717 (1280x853)DSC_1720 (1280x853)DSC_1722 (1280x853)

Afterwards the kids went down to play with Marigold, a sweet, tame cat who lives in the barn.

DSC_1723 (1280x853)DSC_1725 (1280x853)DSC_1730 (1280x853)DSC_1731 (1280x853)

We got distracted from the cat by a game of “Who Can Find the Tallest Dandelion.” If you have never played that game, I highly recommend it. 🙂 Sometimes the simplest, happy things are the best things.

DSC_1733 (1280x853)DSC_1735 (1280x853)DSC_1736 (1280x853)DSC_1740 (1280x853)

We have hundreds and thousands of dandelions around our farm, and some of them grow over two feet tall in the fields. Seriously.

DSC_1795 (1280x853)DSC_1803

DSC_1789 (1280x853)

I won the contest that day, but today my brother found what could be the record breaker: a whopping 27 inch tall dandelion.

DSC_1741 (1280x853)DSC_1743 (1280x853)DSC_1750 (1280x960)DSC_1753 (1280x853)

We graciously fed our dear rabbits some of the losing dandelions. Lily sat there contentedly, not moving except for her mouth and nose, slurping up dandelion stems like spaghetti. We tried not to let the dandelions run out, but eventually they did. Until they stopped she just nibbled away one after another, looking mildly disinterested and rather sleepy.

DSC_1754 (1280x853)DSC_1756 (1280x853)DSC_1757 (1280x853)DSC_1758 (1280x853)

Then we gathered eggs – a not very lovely part of the afternoon, because they were extremely dirty and it took forever. The good thing is, it didn’t actually take forever, because we finished eventually.

DSC_1759 (1280x853)DSC_1760 (1280x853)DSC_1768 (1280x853)DSC_1771 (1280x853)

When we were doing the dandelion contest earlier, I had noticed the beautiful crimson clover and vetch blooms in the fields. After eggs, I ran down to the house and grabbed my camera straight away.

DSC_1772 (1280x853)DSC_1773 (1280x853)DSC_1776 (1280x853)DSC_1778 (1280x853)

And so here are the photos. I love the peaceful, beautiful, serene atmosphere of them. ♥

DSC_1780 (1280x853)DSC_1781 (1280x853)DSC_1784 (1280x853)DSC_1785 (1280x853)

And I love that little things like dew drops and triticale and even weeds like dandelions can be so pretty and graceful.

DSC_1786 (1280x853)DSC_1788 (1280x853)DSC_1790 (1280x853)

*Happy sigh* I really enjoyed this photoshoot and I hope you did too! Thank you for persevering through allllll of those pictures. 🙂 Do you have a favorite or favorites?

Have a wonderful day! ♥

Beautiful Things {Part 2}

I’m really excited to show you guys this edition of “Beautiful Things”!” 🙂 Today I have a bunch of pictures of little beauties, like spring flowers and grass. Little things are probably my favorite photography subjects.

DSC_1129 (1280x853)
Yes, I know henbit is a weed, but I still think it’s pretty when it’s all crowded together in a sea of purple!
DSC_1137 (1280x853)
Side note: we were studying weeds today for Nature Study, and we found and identified eighteen different kinds on our short walk! O.o

OOH I LOVE THIS ONE! I like how dark and dramatic it is. The manual settings on my camera were a bit off, but it turned out neat that way.
tag (4) (1280x853)
I found a lot of these next flowers at the arboretum.
tag (7) (1280x853)
I love these purple flowers! Purple is a wonderful color, don’t you agree? 😀

Sooo pretty!

I always like seeing bees up close in photographs like this.

DSC_1542 (1280x853)
One of our friends found this extremely odd-looking dandelion when we were on our Nature Walk today. Yes, all of those dandelion heads are on that one huge stem! (Although the stem got kind of split and smushed…)
tag (13) (1280x853)
Warning: I may hyperventilate about these next few photos just a bit…
tag (14) (1280x853)
AHH I LOVE DEW DROPS!
tag (15) (1280x853)
AHH THEY MAKE ME SO HAPPY!
tag (16) (1280x853)
I DON’T KNOW WHY BUT THEY REALLY DO!
tag (17) (1280x853)
Ohhh this one might be my favorite. I took these pictures just after a rain when we were walking down to our pond to try to find the muskrat that lives there. (Unfortunately, we only caught a glimpse of him. 😦 )
tag (18) (1280x853)
The phlox in our flowerbed and everyone else’s is simply breathtaking! They’re so brilliant and colorful!

That’s all for now, folks! At least I’ve made a dent in my pictures… but only a dent. It’s spring, so of course I can’t keep up! Whenever I post 10 pictures I take 20 more. XD

What do you think of my “Beautiful Things” series so far? Which was your favorite picture? DO YOU LOVE DEW DROPS TOO?! (*Ahem,* sorry.)

Of Snow, Ice, Snowmen, Puddles… Etc.

Guys, buckle up for a TON of pictures! This may be one of my longest posts to date. XD

It snowed last Monday/Tuesday, and I just went photo-wild. XD I got a few neat pictures of the snow, but most of the pictures were actually of icicles or ice. So anyway, have a seat and take a peek, won’t you?

Phew, I don’t know where to start! Let’s see. I guess I’ll start with some pretty, icy pictures.

Ice:

tag (2) (1280x853)
It looks like rain drops only… ice drops!

tag (3) (1280x853)tag (4) (1280x853)tag (6) (1280x853)

tag (7) (1280x853)
Love this one!
tag (8) (1280x853)
The poor pussy willow buds got rather frozen. 😦

Next up…

Snow:

tag (25) (1280x853)
It didn’t snow very much, but it still looked pretty!
tag (23) (1280x853)
Maggie!
tag (24) (1280x853)
Heh heh, I drew this horribly deformed smiley face in the snow with water.

My three youngest siblings made this hilarious but cute snowman. XD After I took these pictures, they made him a “Snow Cool” sign.

tag (28) (1280x853)
They used icicles for the mohawk, a carrot for the nose (obviously), sunglasses for the… uh, sunglasses ( XD ) and a smear of dirt for the mouth.

After most of that snow had melted, what do you know? It snowed AGAIN! (And then melted super quickly but oh well.) The most amazing thing about this snow was the snowflakes. I mean, they weren’t even snowflakes, they were more like snowballs! They were the biggest flakes I have ever seen – a whole bunch of snowflakes bunched into a clump, some of which were quarter-sized or bigger. I tried frantically to get a good picture that showed how big they were, but I didn’t really get any. 😦 I did get some pretty pictures, though!

tag (3)
We have a nice view of this silo from our deck. 😀
tag (4)
There you can kind of see how hard it was snowing!
tag (6)
Fluffy. 🙂

Ooh, yay! Now I get to show you the…

Icicles

After we finished gathering eggs, I ran back to the house to get my camera. I noticed the lovely icicles hanging from the chicken house roofs, and I just HAD to get some pictures. 😉 I’m so glad I did! It took quite a bit of patience and a high shutter speed setting to capture the drops falling, but I had SO much fun experimenting!

tag (9) (1280x853)tag (10) (1280x853)tag (11) (1280x853)tag (12) (1280x853)

tag (13) (1280x853)
Woohoo, two at once!

tag (14) (1280x853)

These icicles are on our house, and I took this picture at sunset.

tag (2)

And that leads us to…

Water Drops

After I had taken quite a few icicle photos, I noticed that the drops sliding off of them were splashing into a puddle. I decided it would be fun to take pictures of that too! Instead of kneeling down in the wet snow, though, I got a (rather dirty) measuring pitcher from the chicken house, brought out something to sit on, and started taking pictures. This also took quite a bit of patience, like the icicles. I got a whole bunch of blurry or boring pictures for every good one. But again, it was so exciting when I DID get a good one! Hee hee!

(Note: I edited these pictures a good bit – they didn’t look like this straight from the camera. 😉 )

drop 1drop 4drop 5drop 6

And now for my very favorite one. ♥ Ohhh my goodness I love it so much!

drop 2

And last but not least, we have…

Everything Else

I took several not-so-snowy pictures that I wanted to include too.

Quite a few robins were hopping around this puddle, waiting for spring to come, I guess. 🙂

robin 1
I love how you can see his reflection.
robin 2
This was a fun one! I made everything black and white except for the robin’s pop of color.

robin 3

I was pretty tickled to get this next picture. I saw two robins fighting in the puddle all of a sudden and quick pressed the button – and it actually worked! I love it when that happens. 🙂

robins

tag (33) (1280x853)
This is neat, don’t you think?
tag (29) (1280x853)
I rather like this one too.

I shall end with this promise of spring. This poor little beauty was stuck face down in the snow when I rescued her, but she’s still so bright and cheery for all that! Daffodils are such incredibly hardy, resilient flowers that can spring back after even such cold trials as this snow. Sometimes it’s hard to be a daffodil, isn’t it? It is for me…

tag (36) (1280x853)

Aaaaannnd I’m finished! Maybe it wasn’t so wise to put all those pictures in one post, but I just wanted to try and see how it worked. XD What do you think? Was that way too much or did you heartily enjoy seeing all those photos at once? Or are you indifferent? XD

If you actually got through the whole thing, which category or picture was your favorite?

Thanks for reading (and persevering)!

How To Edit Photos, Part 2: Adding Effects

How to Edit Photos, Part 2 (1280x1280) (800x800).jpg

Hello, my friends! 😀

I’m so happy that you guys liked the first part of this series! (If you missed Part 1 or would like to review it, click here.) Are you ready for Part 2? Today I’m going to show you how to use some beautiful and fun effects, along with a few tips and tricks as well.

Again, I’m going to be working with the PicMonkey editing site, so go ahead and open that up on your web browser and choose the photo you want to edit. Last time we used the Basic Edits section of PicMonkey, but today we’re going to use the Effects tab. It’s represented as a little sparkly wand symbol on the left hand sidebar of the PicMonkey Editor, just below the Basic Edits tab.

Alrighty, let’s do this!

How to Add Effects

To be honest, I don’t use effects that terribly much, but there are a few very helpful tools in the effects section of PicMonkey – and all of the effects are just so fun to play with! I’m going to edit a picture and walk you through the steps so you can do it too.

Here’s our starting picture. ♥

To begin with, I used the Focal /soften tool. This is a very useful effect, especially if you don’t have a DSLR or if your camera doesn’t allow you to adjust aperture. See, by adjusting the aperture to a smaller or lower f-stop, you can make the subject sharp and in focus while the background is beautifully soft and blurry. Personally, I LOVE this effect, and so do a lot of other people. It looks professional. But if you take photos with your phone or a little pocket camera, it’s not easy to get a blurred background. But that’s why you’re here, my friends! 😉 Let me show you how…

First, find the “Focal Soften” Tab. It’s toward the bottom.

edit-focalsoften-1227x520

If you’re a little overwhelmed by all the different sliders, don’t worry! Trust me, it’s not as complicated as it looks. I’m pretty sure you could all figure it out by just playing around with the sliders, but in case you want some more detailed information, here it is. 😉

The Blur slider simply adjusts how soft or blurry it is around your subject. Tip: Be careful not to add too much blur or the effect will look fake. Focal size adjusts the size of the part of the photo which is sharp, or in focus. Edge Harden determines how distinct the edge is between the blurry and non-blurry parts of the photo. Tip: I suggest normally sliding the edge hardness to zero or close to zero. This provides a smoother, more natural transition. And lastly, the Fade slider controls how much of the whole effect, Focal Soften, shows up on your picture.

Okay, next I used the “Boost” effect.

edit-boost-1215x513

Tip: A little “Boost” can go a long way. You will quickly see this if you play with the slider. I used 8% boost for my picture, just to make the colors more vibrant.

I also added a teensy bit of the HDR effect.

edit-hdr-1216x512

This is yet another effect to use sparingly – although it’s really fun to play with the sliders and create weird and wonderful artistic effects. HDR is basically a more interesting, advanced form of the “Sharpen” tab in Basic Effects.

Lastly, I finished it off with another of my favorites: the Miniature effect.

edit-miniature-1232x523

Now, as you can see by that little yellow crown up there, this effect can only be used by Royale members. Like I mentioned in Part 1, Royale is an upgraded version of PicMonkey that gives you access to more effects, more graphics, and generally more features all around. I have Royale and I love it! You really get a lot of fun and useful stuff when you buy the package, including this Miniature effect. Tip: If you’re not sure whether to get Royale or not, you can always try out PicMonkey’s free trial!

Ahem, getting back to the effect… The Miniature effect is kind of like a combination of Focal Soften and Boost, but it’s a little different from either. For one thing, you can choose whether to make the focal shape linear or circular – in other words, make the in-focus part of the picture a rectangular section or a circular section. For landscapes and such, it works best to use the linear option, but for close-ups and individual objects, use circular. Adjust the Boost and Impact sliders to control the saturation and blur of the effect respectively.

Alright, I’m finished! Here’s the before and after photo: (before on the left and right on the right side)

before-after-2-2-1280x640
So pretty!

I’m going to go through these next photos a little faster now that you know basically how the effects work.

Black and White

The classic B&W. 🙂 I like to use this effect when 1.) my photos are cluttered or have a distracting background, and 2.) when I want the photo to have a special, nostalgic feel. PicMonkey seriously has like 7 different black and white effects, and they’re all a bit different. Tip: Start with classic Black and White, then add some toned-down Super B&W or Tri-X to make your photo pop. If you use the Fade slider on Super B&W or Tri-X without first making the photo black and white, you’ll end up with a bunch of washed out colors instead of true black and white. Which, incidentally, is another neat editing technique of its own.

Here are some black and white photos I edited.

tag

As you can tell, this isn’t completely black and white. If you click the little paintbrush symbol on the Black and White tab, a little menu with even more sliders pops up! Choose “Effect” at the top of the menu to paint on the effect you’re using, and “Original” to erase it off. I erased the black and white effect off of only the cupcakes here, for a fun pop of color.

tag

This is an example of B&W used to create a nostalgic or special atmosphere. Black and white is great for preserving special memories or sweet moments like this. Isn’t is adorable? ♥ (By the way, the original picture was from this post.)

Clone

This is a VERY useful tool, but sadly, it is a Royale feature. 😦 Clone can be used to erase unwanted items right out of a picture – from power lines to trash – as long as the unwanted object is fairly small. Simply click on the part of the photo close to the unwanted object, and start erasing. This tool takes a bit of practice to master, but it is quite helpful once you do. Take this photo, for example:

allisonvacation-52

Gorgeous Niagara Falls, right? And annoying blue people, huh? Well we can whisk those people far, far away with the Clone tool. Ta-daa!

edit-clone

Isn’t that amazing? I simply copied the bushes and rocks from around the people and painted over all that blue.

Other Tools and Tips

  • Two other very useful tools which I didn’t show are “Dodge” and “Burn.” Both are located at the bottom of the Effects page, and both require Royale membership to use. Use Dodge to brighten specific areas of your photo; use Burn to darken specific areas of your photo. Tip: Dodge is helpful when the face of your subject is dark or cast in shadow.
  • A really neat feature which PicMonkey added recently is the ability to create your own effect by layering other effects together. It’s a little button labeled “Save custom effect” up at the top of the Effects tab. But… you guessed it, it’s a Royale feature too. I actually don’t use it that much anymore, but it’s really fun to play with. 🙂 Tip: Mix up your own custom effect to provide the photos for your blog or business with one cohesive (and personalized) look.
  • Be creative! I encourage you to try out all the effects in the tab and play around with the sliders. Even if you don’t have Royale, PicMonkey at least lets you preview the Royale effects.
  • One last tip: have fun with editing, but don’t go overboard! Sometimes over-edited photos are much worse than the original. Think of the effects like make-up – use them to enhance your photo’s natural beauty, not plaster them on until your photo is unrecognizable and fake-looking. Unless, of course, you’re doing an artistic effect on purpose.

Phew! That was a lot to take in, but I hope you guys found it helpful! Let me know if you have any questions about that, and I’ll do my best to answer them. 🙂

Have fun editing!

A Little Winter Walk

Winter is so drab and gray and cold that it’s a challenge sometimes to find good photo opportunities. But there is ALWAYS something to take a picture of, no matter where you are. It’s a lot of fun to go out on a “treasure hunt” of sorts with your camera and see what you can find outside: blades of grass, raindrops, berries – even dead leaves or thorns can make interesting pictures!

When you look through the lens of a camera, anything is beautiful. ♥

So anyway, that’s what I did. A few days ago I was feeding the bunnies after a rain, and I noticed the raindrops all over everything… so out popped my camera! XD By now a lot of you know how much I love dewdrops and raindrops. They’re so perfectly beautiful, how can I resist? 😀

I love this photo! I didn’t edit it, even though it looks that way. I found out that when I adjust my camera’s settings to faster shutter speed, lower ISO, higher f-stop, or a combination, the picture gets darker. I still have so much to learn about my dSLR, but I’m getting there!

I also took some pictures the other day when we went for a nature walk. At first it seemed like there was nothing interesting around, but what did I tell you? There’s always something! 😀 (By the way, I did a similar photoshoot/”treasure hunt” thingy here.)

See what I mean about thorns making an interesting picture? 😉

I have no clue what these berries are except pretty. XD

What do you guys like to take pictures of in the winter? (Well besides snow. Ooh, which reminds me – it’s supposed to snow a tiny bit here tomorrow!)

What was your favorite picture?

Have a warm and cozy day! ♥

Black Friday Surprises!

Guys, (or rather girls) I super excited to show you the things I bought for Black Friday! We went shopping late Thursday night and a little bit on Black Friday too. Did you go Black Friday shopping? Anyway, let me show you my goodies. 🙂

camera

A cute backpack, a beautiful ESV Study Bible, and… (wait for it) a new camera! 😀 😀 😀 Woohoo!

The backpack: My old backpack has seen its better days, so I was really happy to find this pretty one at JCPenny. (And if you’re wondering why I need a backpack when I’m homeschooled – I use it to hold my co-op things. 😉 )

Yuck. Not a very good picture.

dsc_0181-1280x853

The Bible: Family Christian Bookstores had a 50% discount off of the whole line of ESV Study Bibles! My old Bible barely had any notes, so I really wanted a Study Bible. And I love this one! It’s beautiful and has lots of footnotes and cross-references and even a few illustrations. (Why why why didn’t I get any pictures of the inside? *facepalm*)

camera-5

The cover is imprinted with swirly ivy designs that were quite fun to photograph…

And the camera! I’m really excited because it’s my first dSLR camera. 😀 It’s a Nikon d3400, and it came with two lenses – a standard lens and a zoom lens (I think). I might do a review of it later, but for now I’m still learning how to use it. 😉 There are several things I miss about my old camera (mostly ease-of-use), but I do like how this one has manual aperture and shutter speed options! I can’t wait to take some softened photos of a waterfall.

For the rest of the post I’m going to dump heaps and heaps of experimental photos on you, so take a deep breath and do some scrolling-finger exercises before we begin. XD

Aww, Casey kitty!

WILLOW FLUFFBALL!

Oh my goodness this might be one of the cutest pictures I’ve ever taken of Willow. XD

Can you see the improvement on photo quality here versus my last camera? (Snickers does not look impressed with my new equipment, but he DOES look cute. XD)
dsc_0017-1280x853
I don’t know if it was the camera or what, but Lily was super scared when I took this picture. She was racing around like crazy!

I love the blurred background and bokeh here! My new camera is good at that.

Random chicken. XD (I think I was experimenting with aperture.)
dsc_0038-1280x853
This photo looks dSLR-ish, doesn’t it? I love how the top is in focus and the bottom is blurred. That’s my favorite. 😀 *Happy sigh*
dsc_0039-1280x853
Funny Fact: Casey loves this plant. As in, she loves to eat it. XD

I got a few decent photos in the dark. (And heh heh, I kind of stole this photography idea from my sister who did a beautiful post about it here: https://abarefootgal.wordpress.com/2016/11/27/christmas-light-photography/

We’re revamping our Schoolroom. This is the Nature Shelf, and more specifically, this is a duck egg in an I-don’t-know-what-kind-of-nest.

The classic camera-with-its-human picture. XD

When I turned on the flash it made these little rainbow-y circles appear.

I really like how these drippy photos turned out. 🙂

For some reason, I kinda like this one too. I guess it’s the reflection on the stone or something?

In case you haven’t noticed, I l♥ve waterdrops.

SUPER CREEPY PHOTO OF OLAF ALERT! She has some serious red eye (perhaps because her eyes are already pinkish-red XD). Yikes. That really is quite creepy. XD

dsc_0133-1280x853
Aww, Liliputian again! I’m pretty pleased that this photo turned out pretty well even though I used flash. My old camera did’t take very good pictures with flash.

Oh my. That was a LOT of photos, wasn’t it? Yikes. Hee hee, I hope you enjoyed this post in spite of (or because of) that!

P. S. I always think of so many things to write for P. S.’s, but when it comes time to actually write them I can never remember what I was thinking… 😦 XD

Autumn In Bloom

Ohhhhh October is such a beautiful month! It’s seems like the colors are twice as rich and the air is twice as clear and the sky is twice as… okay, you get the point. October is nice. 😀

I’ve been taking so many fall pictures lately – like SO MANY! How will I ever post them all? Today I’m going to post some photos of chrysanthemums.

Ahhh! So pretty. ♥ Are you enjoying fall so far? What’s your favorite or least favorite part of it?

***Allison***

P. S. That miniature garden-related post is coming up next! It’s going to be a very EXCITING POST! 😀

Random Photography Part 2

I have a bunch more stray pictures for you today! (23 to be precise. XD ) You’d better warm up your scrolling finger…

First we have some flower pictures:

allisonbaby-bunnies-flowers-090-1280x960
Sunflowers are such sunny things!

allisonbaby-bunnies-flowers-027-1280x960allison-029-1280x960

allisonbaby-bunnies-flowers-061-1280x960
I love looking closer at things, like this zinnia. The centers are so pretty!
allisonbaby-bunnies-flowers-060-1280x960
A little crab spider (I think) came in with our bouquet. But he was tiny, so it was okay. XD
allisonbaby-bunnies-flowers-058
Does anyone see any evidence that maybe the crab spider was here? I do!

031-1280x960028-1280x960

And then a bunch of Nature pictures:

006-1280x960
This is a gourd tendril. Aren’t they so pretty? They look like curly green hair. 😀

010-1280x960
Such a picture-perfect tomato. 🙂 It had a lovely cross in the middle.
allisonpuppies-creaming-corn-028-1280x960
I took this picture on Corn-Creaming Day when we harvested our sweet corn.
allisonbaby-bunnies-004-1280x960
I love this shot! After I took it I noticed the fly. XD Can you find it?
allisonbaby-bunnies-007
I was trying to get a picture of the bird taking off, but it didn’t work so well, so I finally stooped to taking a still out of a video. XD

Does anyone know what this beetle is called? It was on the side of our car.
allisoncoloring-baby-bunnies-044-1280x960
Ohhh I love dew drops!
allisonpets-walk-skidloader-015-1280x960
Butterflies’ eyes are weird.
allisonpets-walk-skidloader-021-1280x960
Look at all the teensy-weensy baby spiders! They were way tinier than this in real life, but my camera has good zoom. I don’t know if they’re cute exactly, but I think it’s the closest spiders can get. XD
allisonpets-walk-skidloader-025-1280x960
This guy is NOT so cute. But he is beautiful! Isn’t it amazing how God creates even the tiniest creatures with such beauty and intricate detail? I mean just look at all the different markings!
allisonpets-walk-skidloader-059-1280x960
And last but not least, a sunset. ♥ It was oranger than this in real life, but my camera was on Dawn/Dusk setting which always makes the sky pinker than it is.

Are you still with me? Oh good. 😀 Then which picture was your favorite?

***Allison***

P. S. Ahh, it’s so beautiful outside today! It’s really starting to feel like fall, even though not many leaves have turned color yet. How’s the weather where you live?
