~ Etcetera #2 ~

Good gracious, guys, my unpostedย pictures are backed up all the way to October. XD So as you can see, it’s high time for another random photography/thoughts/etc. post! Enjoy the bits and pieces. ๐Ÿ™‚ (And warning: this is going to be a VERY long post.)

Flowers + Butterflies

I love this nextย picture! The flower and colors are so incredibly bright and cheery. ๐Ÿ™‚

At the new farm we’re kind of in the middle of nowhere and at the end of the line, so it’s really hard to get Internet. You canย get it, but it’s quite expensive past a certain monthly amount of dataย – and we already used that up, halfway throughย the month!ย O.o And even worse,ย the things that use it up the fastest are watching videos online and BLOGGING. HELP. XD Thankfully after you use up the data you still have Internet… it’s just really, REALLY slow.ย Like barely-moving slow.ย -_- Hooray.

etcetera 5 (1280x853)

I was excited to be able to get decent pictures of a monarch butterfly because they’re pretty rare around here!

I just finished reading Emma for school. Anyone else read it? I don’t know if I like it or not. It’s definitely very well-written, but it’s also rather boringย  –ย life in the 17th century seems to consist of going to dinner parties and getting married?

A bunch of other butterflies and moths and bugs came to the zinnia patch as well. ๐Ÿ˜€

etcetera 7 (1105x1280)

Guess what? You know how I mentioned we might turn the Cedar House into an Airbnb? Well if we do, and we probably will, my parents are thinking they’ll let me be in charge of it! I am SO excited. That means I’ll get to decorate it, clean it, andย add all sorts of fun touches for the customers – eek! ๐Ÿ™‚

etcetera 2 (1280x853)

I think I found a new favorite word – to say, at least: verisimiltudinous. ISN’T IT GREAT? XD

DSC_3024 (1280x853)

Carmen got a cat laser toy for her birthday and Tom (one of our cats) LOVES it. Mom says she feels sorry for him because there’sย notย actuallyย anything to catch.ย XD

etcetera (1280x853)

Fall Forests & Fields

I took these pictures at my grandparents’ woods which are lovely and gold in the autumn. And the light… โ™ฅ

etcetera 5 (853x1280)

Ahh, mushrooms. I love taking pictures of them and drawing them, but I don’t like eating them, heh heh. I used to absolutely despise them but I don’t mind them as much now – at least raw is okay.

DSC_0112 (853x1280)

Speaking of food, I’m not a picky eater, but I think two of my least favorite foods are black walnuts and goat cheese. They both taste so pungent and strange, and I think goat cheese tastes like goats smell. SORRY. BUT IT DOES.

etcetera 3 (853x1280)

This one kind ofย looks like an art prompt, doesn’t it?

DSC_0418 (853x1280)

I took this picture when we were having a Nature Study on hickory trees with our friends and went to search for hickory nuts afterward. I LOVE the lighting. ๐Ÿ™‚

DSC_0414 (1280x853)

I rather like how you can see two pictures at once here.

etcetera (1280x853)

Bittersweet berries areย beautiful! There’s a huge vine of it up the hill from our (current) house.

DSC_0015 (1280x853)

My friend and I randomly did a photoshoot after church one day when I had my camera along anyway. I won’t put the pictures of her on here in case she doesn’t want me to, but here’s one of the pictures sheย took of me. ๐Ÿ™‚

DSC_4338 (1280x853)

The maple tree outside our church is AMAZING in the fall!

etcetera 6 (1280x853)

Ooh yes, I really like this one. I edited it quite a lot to make the chopper and wagon into silhouettes, but I love how it turned out!

etcetera 2 (1280x853)

Here’s a kind of similar picture. I took this right before we went on the nature walk: one of us spotted a deer on the hill and it walked right along the top so you could see its silhouette. Doesn’t it look neat?

etcetera 1 (1166x1280)

My siblings put colored lights around the trampoline a while back and they look AMAZING at night! And as bokeh and light painting photos. ๐Ÿ™‚

lights (3) (1280x853)

I’ve also been reading a phenomenal book called Extreme Devotion. It’s a daily devotional, but I’m just reading it as a normal book because it’s composed of many short, very inspiring storiesย from Voice of the Martrys.ย One of my favorite quotes from it so far is this:

God, I do not ask You to make my life easy; I do ask You to make me strong.

– From a Jewish child, in a note found in the rubble of a Jewish ghetto in Poland after it was bombed by the Nazis

lights (17) (1280x853)

AHH THIS PICTURE. Doesn’t it look so warm and bright and sunny? โ™ฅ It makes me happy just to look at it. Actually lots of things make me happy just to look at them. ๐Ÿ˜›

etcetera 10 (969x1280)

Have you ever exploded Ivory soap? If you haven’t you should – it is SO fun! All you have to do is take a bar of Ivory soap (only the Ivory brand will work) and microwave it for a while until you see it start puffing up like a marshmallow. It’s so weird and neat. I did this one day with Carmen when she was bored. ๐Ÿ˜‰

DSC_0139 (1280x853)

And now let us end with a picture of three of our adorable bunnies. ๐Ÿ˜€ โ™ฅ I haven’t posted much about them lately, huh? Probably because we don’t take many pictures of them in the winter when it’s cold and gray. Hopefully I can do another photoshoot soon, when it warms up. ๐Ÿ™‚

DSC_3367 (1280x853)

And there you have it! One long and random post. XDย I finally cleaned up at least SOME of the leftover pictures, which feels great. I still have plenty left, though, so be on the lookout for another Etcetera post soon!

Which picture or topic was your favorite? Do you have the same problem of taking too many photos to keep up with? Are you enjoying winter or ready for it to be over?

    1. Aww, thanks. ๐Ÿ™‚ I like those too! And ha ha, it IS neat, and very tempting to squish. XD Sadly it’s not as squishy as it looks – you can actually still use it as soap since it still has about the same consistency. IT’S SO FUN. ๐Ÿ˜›

  2. As always, what a wonderful post! The photos were all beautiful! The bunnies are so cute! I’ve read Emma as well! I’m a big Austen fan, but I did find Emma a little boring as well.

  3. Wow, it seems as though you are surrounded by beautiful nature all the time! I love the pictures :)) Also- running an air bnb sounds like so much fun XD

  4. Ooh, your photography is so pretty! It would be so cool if your family decided to turn the Cedar House into an Air B&B, (I would have to come visit you) XD ๐Ÿ˜‰ Carmen is so adorable!

  5. I was going to begin my comment by listing my favorite pictures, but I couldn’t choose a small list so i decided to say that I love ALL of them- which is true. You have great photography skills. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have read Emma and I love it. I’ve also seen the BBC 2009 Emma and its a really good screen-adaption. The actors chosen were PERFECT. Have you read any other Jane Austen books?

I really enjoyed reading your random thoughts and comments! they were fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. HA HA I have that trouble a lot. XD Thank you so much!
Ooh, really? That would be fun! I’d like to watch that sometime. I think the only other Austen book I’ve read so far is Pride and Prejudice, but I really liked that one!
And yay, I’m so glad to hear that. ๐Ÿ˜€

  6. This was such an enjoyable post to read, Allison! I loved the text and photos! ๐Ÿ˜€
It’s too bad that you don’t have very good internet at your new house. I remember when we used to have dial-up. It was slow, and I hardly ever used it. And actually, sometimes our internet is still really slow, and some days it just randomly goes off for seconds at a time. ๐Ÿ˜›
I really like your flower pictures; they’re so colorful and vibrant!
I read Emma a few years ago, and I agree, it was kind of dry. I somewhat liked it, though, and I probably would have liked it more if I had understood what was happening half the time. My sister Miss Beadle hated it, though. I definitely like other Jane Austen books better, though.
I really love the pictures of your grandparents’ woods! My favorite is the third one! ๐Ÿ™‚
The pictures of the lights on the trampoline are really cool; were they for Christmastime, or are they meant to be up all year round?
I do sometimes take too many pictures, but then when I’m busy I don’t take many photos of all, so I think it balances out.

    1. Aww, yay! I’m so glad, Sassafras!
Yeah, it’s a bummer. :/ Ha ha, wow! Really? That must have been terribly slow. O.o Yeah, our Internet is kind of splotchy too. :/
Thank you! I rather like them as well. ๐Ÿ™‚
Yeah, I agree with you there. It helped that since I was reading it for school, I had questions and notes in my study guide so it made more sense. Ha ha, dear me.
Aww, thank you! I like them too. ๐Ÿ™‚
Yes, thanks! Well I’m not entirely sure, but I think they meant them to be up all year round. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Ha ha, true. Well that’s good .:)

      1. Yes, it was very slow, but I don’t really remember how slow, because I never used it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I do know that we couldn’t watch online videos with dial-up, so when we did get high-speed internet, we went on YouTube a lot and watched a lot of videos. XD
Oh, yes, it’s so helpful to have study guides for books that don’t make much sense. I read Shakespeare plays in highschool, and if there hadn’t been a book to go along with the plays, I would have been utterly lost.

          1. LOL, yes it kind is funny. We were pretty awed about how much stuff you could find on the internet.
Oh, that’s an interesting way to learn Shakespeare! Was it easy to understand their words? Also, what is your favorite play?

            Liked by 1 person

            1. HA HA! XD But I know, it IS pretty awe-inspiring. ๐Ÿ˜›
Yeah, especially since we read along. It was super helpful! My favorite play… hmm, I kind of forget the ones I’ve read, but I like A Midsummer’s Night Dream, I think. ๐Ÿ™‚ What about you?

  7. I loved the the two pictures in one with the car window….so interesting. Oh, and I definitely agree with you about the goats cheese … It tastes just like a goat smells! ๐Ÿ˜€

  8. YAY! I love these kinds of posts, Allison! ๐Ÿ˜€ All of these pictures are SO pretty! A few of my favorites were…

They’re all so cool and pretty! ๐Ÿ˜€

Yikes, that’s not good about the internet. O.o I bet that’s really annoying! :/
Wow, oh my goodness, that is so exciting about the Airbnb! What a neat opportunity! ๐Ÿ˜€
Exploding Ivory soap looks like so much fun! My siblings would absolutely love that – I’ll have to try it with them sometime. XD
Also, to answer your question at the end of the post, I AM READY FOR WINTER TO BE OVER. Very. Ready. ๐Ÿ˜› How about you?

I enjoyed reading this post and looking at your beautiful pictures! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Yayyy, I’m so glad you liked the post! I really want to read your Random Post but I haven’t yet because the Internet doesn’t load picture-heavy blog posts right now. -_- I am not impressed. XD
ANYWAY, thank you so much! I always enjoy seeing your favorites – I really like all of those too!
Yeah, it’s rather annoying. :/ Oh well, at least it’s not something necessary to life… I think? XD
      YES, I am sooo excited!
It sure is! Ooh yeah, you totally should! ๐Ÿ™‚
Heh heh, I agree. Well sort of. It would seem strange for winter to be over already, but I’m VERY ready for warmer weather. Or at least snow if we’re going to have cold?? ๐Ÿ˜‰
      Thanks again, Clara!

  9. Okay, here’s the list of things (food) that I HATE:

    peas (doesn’t everyone)

    shiitake mushrooms

    avocado pie *throws up*

refrigerated barley mixed with peanut butter (warm barley, salt and black pepper tastes fine, but cold and mixed with peanut goo is terrible)

Uhhhh, I believe thats all I’ve encountered… Oh, and unsweetened cornbread *BARF*

    Liked by 1 person

    1. HA HA that was fun to read. XD I don’t think I mind parsnips but I forget what they taste like… Ooh, I actually like peas a lot. Never had those mushrooms but I probably wouldn’t like them. XD Eww, avocado pie? Never had that but it sounds really weird! I have definitely never tried the barley stuff… and ha ha, well unsweetened cornbread isn’t my favorite, but it’s alright. XD Thanks for the entertaining comment, dear. ;).

  10. I loved reading and seeing all your beautiful photos! I’m curious, did you edit the photo of the photo in the truck mirror? That is SO awesome!!! And Carmen is such a cutie, hehe! And the bunnies!! EEK! I loved this post and I can’t wait for another! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Thank you so much! Ooh, good question. I did a little bit – made the mirror a little brighter and maybe adjusted the highlights? I kind of forget, honestly. XD But I didn’t add in the picture on the mirror or anything. Hee hee, she is! Aww, thanks so much again! โ™ฅ

  11. Missed scrolling through these! Sorry if it seems like I’m stalking you, but I didn’t know you’re reading Extreme Devotion. It’s one of my favorites. ๐Ÿ™‚

At this I will end my stalking your blog.
