Hello, my friends!
I’m finally posting a fall photoshoot! The leaves turned a lot later than normal this year, but goodness they were beautiful! It was one of the prettiest autumns I can remember in a long time. The photos for today are split between two different locations – my friends’ house while I was housesitting, and our farm, because of course.
Enjoy some warm fall colors for Thanksgiving season!
Starting out with some farm landscapes. I love viewing fall leaves from a distance with all the colors melting and blending together.
They’re also beautiful up close, of course. I found the most vibrant yellow maple tree! The individual leaves had a bunch of spots and speckles and imperfections on them, but the sun shone through them so much that they looked stunning regardless.
When I took these pictures, the trees in our yard were still tinged with green. But you know the gorgeous fall light that makes even green leaves look gold and glowy? Well, that’s what was going on here, highlighting all the hints of yellow and orange in these trees. (Also that’s a three-wheeler in the second picture, an old and rather dangerous ATV that doesn’t get much use anymore. But it added interest to the picture, so it wasn’t entirely useless. 😀 )
I’m also including some autumnal nature pictures that aren’t strictly fall leaves because AHH SO PRETTY. I love how a good camera and pretty lighting + editing can make even dry, dead weeds look interesting and lovely.
My friends have a bunch of blueberry bushes outside their house. I didn’t realize blueberry bushes turned orange like this, did you?
Back to our farm. I love when Dad plants wheat and field radishes as a cover crop because they look so vibrant and fresh and green, even in winter.
One of my favorite pictures. You guys know I love it because look: it’s a tiny moon! 😀
Ooh, here’s a neat series of pictures. I found this interesting bush with a bunch of red berries at my friends’ house.
So dark and dramatic. :O
I love this one! Dark, moody pictures are so much fun to edit.
Now for a happy one. Guess who accompanied me on this walk?
We have heaps of chrysanthemum plants around our house, including this lovely orange/rust-colored one.
Our house from a distance. Looks pretty green around it in this picture, huh? That’s okay – green is nice too. 🙂
The view toward the Cedar House is always gorgeous in fall. Actually guess what? It’s not the Cedar House anymore! We got it fixed up with new porches and nice vinyl siding so now it’s a cute little rental house!
Funny enough, the family living at the Cedar House pulled in just after I took the picture above. You can see the dust in this photo, hehe. Our gravel lane gets SO dusty, especially because my family and I drive down it really fast. Oops.
The frost killed these flowers but preserved the shape and form of them, which I thought made for some fascinating textures. Dead plants actually make interesting photography subjects, don’t they? I should do a whole post about them, just to see if I can make them pretty enough to be an interesting photoshoot… That’d be fun.
Back to my friends’ house and their cute little gateway. It reminds me so much of The Secret Garden book and movie. Isn’t the tiny ivy climbing over it so cute?
I don’t think the tree was actually this orange… it must be the edits I made. But I know it did look pretty and glowy when I took the pictures because of how the sun shone through it. Orange and blue make a pretty combination in nature, don’t they? Complementary colors to please an artist’s eye. 😀
Sunlight through beech leaves. ❤ Later on, these leaves will turn a pale, ghostly beige, but for now they’re a lovely green-yellow.
More blueberry bush shots! I love these fiery colors in leaves. So striking.
We shall end with another farm landscape featuring the wooden fence and a line of fall trees. *happy sigh*
There you go – your yearly dose of fall goodness from around our farm. 🙂 I hope you guys enjoyed scrolling through those pretty colors and nature photos.
Which picture(s) did you like best? Is it still fall where you live or another season by now?
Thanks so much for reading, my friends, and have a lovely day!

P. S. Photos taken with my Nikon D7200. Edited with Lightroom.
I saw the weirdest trees the other day. From the tips of the branches inwards to the trunk, the leaves were ombre from red to green. It was really cool!

Whoa, that’s so neat! Usually it’s top down ombre rather than outside-in. Fascinating!

I was certain it was from your great photos Allison! But it this good to hear it from you directly as well! That Maggie is a cutie and I’m a dog nut; but they all seem to love me anyway? Go figure! Could they be putting me on? I do talk a lot so maybe they don’t want to get me going and looking for reasons; so it’s easier to go along with the big mouth guy to get some peace and quiet they figure!

Hey thank you Allison! Ya know I have to agree with you I went into homes or on properties where people would tell me their dogs are very protective and a bit scary to people! So this one time I went into a very big home like a Mansion owned by a wealthy family when I did marketing work and was proposing some equipment for their business. Firs time I had ever been there and they had four Rottweiler’s in there when I went to the front door so they said hold on we can put them in the rear of the property in a huge solarium separated from the rest of the house and that they even have to do that for some relatives or friends that visit, because the dogs are intimidating!
Well anyway, I just said why bother I love dogs and have they eaten anyone yet? Besides what would they want to bother me for I’m a good dude! They laughed and said, well if you’re OK, then we can see how it goes. I went in and the dogs were all right up to me and I just carried on like I was one of the regulars that come around and kept being myself while I kept talking to this family; so the dogs chilled immediately and one stayed by my legs when we sat down almost like a buddy right away; and the others just were all hanging out! When I left they walked me to the door saying goodbye, the dogs; as I was petting them!
I should have been a dog whisperer or actually a Vet because I was always top notch in sciences and would have enjoyed working with all the animals, and they would catch on quick they could trust me! A win, win or maybe even being a farmer would have been smart! Well let that be a lesson to you or somebody anyway; LOL!
Thanks for the vote of confidence! Really!

God bless you!

Hi 🙂 So I think your picture that you take are absolutely stunning and I was wondering if you’d mind if I drew or painted some of them? I’m not selling them or anything, they’re just great references, and I wouldn’t be posting them anywhere. Would that be alright? Also, once I finish a piece or two would you want me to send them to you or something? Sorry if this comment doesn’t necessarily make sense, I have trouble expressing myself online lol. Have a great day ~
(I tried posting this comment somewhere else but I don’t think it worked)

What a beautiful blog post. I spent yesterday trying to capture some of the early autumn colours here in the beautiful Victorian High Country in Australia. A change in the season was really notable this weekend. I will share my images when I have time to go through my latest collection! You have inspired me with new eyes. Blessings from across the seas.
