Megan & Harrison {the Wedding Weekend}

Hello friends!

Last weekend my sister got married to my brother-in-law! πŸ˜€ It was SUCH an amazing, beautiful, memory-filled few days so of course I wanted to share some of the pictures I took.

Megan got married at my family’s farm (as is the tradition with my siblings) decorated with bright poppies and florals, string lights, and lots of yellow. πŸ™‚

A special part of the wedding weekend was meeting some blogger friends! Aria and Andrew arrived at our house Thursday evening, and on Friday morning Aria and I drove to the airport to pick up Clara and Laura as well. Megan and I have wanted to meet them for YEARS. It worked out for them to be the musicians at her wedding and… I love Megan’s reaction, hehe.

Blogger reunion! None of us blog anymore except me, but back in the day we were all part of the same blogosphere and made lots of good memories together. πŸ™‚ We greatly enjoyed hosting Clara, Laura, and Aria + Andrew at our house over the weekend.

We drove to my family’s farm after the airport to help wrap up some wedding preparations, though I honestly mostly took pictures since it wasn’t long until rehearsal time. A lovely group of ladies were hard at work in the garage working on flower arrangements.

4

This indoor lighting does not capture the colors well but oh my goodness guys, Megan’s florals turned out amazing! Poppies, goldenrod, feverfew, etc. My mom was in charge of florals again and used some of her own flowers + bought more to supplement.

10

My aunt put together these gorgeous arrangements for the arch. I actually snapped these pictures with my phone the day after the wedding but it still looked great.

2

While the girls were elbow-deep in flowers, the guys were stringing lights. Harrison has a Christmas lighting business, so he was a pro at this part. Sully is a window washer, so he was also a pro with ladders. (Harrison’s grimace in the first photo is due to him finding poison ivy in the barn, haha.)

5

Megan and Jianna took some time to set up the super cute coffee bar, testing out a few drinks for eager “customers” and sending a video to her coworkers who would run the station on wedding day.

6

Due to the weather forecast, Megan moved her plans around and had the ceremony under a tent and the reception in the barns instead of the backyard. It was still gorgeous! We started the wedding rehearsal on Friday afternoon and got to watch Megan practice walking down the aisle. πŸ™‚

14

(Aria got these pictures for me.) Unlike the day to come, Friday was blazing hot. so we were all sweating a little standing up there. Everyone was full of joy regardless. πŸ™‚

15

After the rehearsal Harrison’s family got ready for the rehearsal dinner. Meanwhile, the ringbearer and flower girl needed a drink. So cute.

17

Supper was amazing! Sully and Harrison’s family pitched in to help serve, and a few of the kids pitched in to test out a ladder. I LOVE THAT PICTURE.

7

After supper the golden hour light was so lovely, I asked Megan if I could grab a few pictures of her in Mom’s flower garden. So glad she agreed because GUYS LOOK HOW STUNNING. ❀ ❀

9

Now for a very memorable part of the weekend: Megan’s bachelorette party! As her MOH, I was in charge of planning it. I talked it over with her to see what she felt up to, and we decided on a Green Truck ride + Gilmore Girls. πŸ˜€ Dad pulled out his vintage truck and Jianna grabbed a load of blankets since it was finally starting to cool down.

8

We invited Aria, Clara, and Laura to join us which was so much fun. Everyone piled into the back of the truck and we set off for the local Dollar Tree via backroads. :’D Once there, I asked everyone to choose some snacks to take home with us. (First picture courtesy of my aunt.)

18

You guys, we had so much fun. Much laughter, squealing, and accidental ingestion of windblown hair.

13

HAHAHA we had to document Megan’s pre-wedding hairdo courtesy of the breezy drive. Oh myyy. Also she bought a pinwheel and it spun so ferociously on the drive back that I was scared it would explode. Anyway, we all settled down to watch the first episode of Gilmore Girls and eat our snacks. Then we left by about 9:30 to let Megan get a good night’s sleep.

At last Saturday dawned, chilly and rainy… But so exciting! After a relaxed morning, Aria and I went to my parents’ house to set up a grazing table for those helping with or taking part in the wedding. Aria is a master at charcuterie so it turned out amazing and was much enjoyed by all who partook.

I slipped outside to take a few photos of the wedding setup before it was time to get ready. Honestly the misty air set off the string lights perfectly and made everything look dreamy and lovely. ❀

Mom set out pots of flowers everywhere. Lush Virginia creeper vines covered the side of the barn.

11

I adored Megan’s table setup! It was very unique, fit Megan’s style perfectly, and looked so so stunning.

12

I got to do the lettering for the espresso bar signs. I love how they turned out! Such a fun little addition to the reception, especially since both Megan and Harrison love coffee and Megan used to work at a coffee shop herself.

By now it was time for the bridesmaids to get ready in Megan’s room. Since the bridal party was mostly the same as it was for both Chessie’s wedding and mine, we felt pretty relaxed and experienced, and took our time doing hair and makeup while listening to music.

16

Mom came up to help Megan with her wedding dress. ❀ I sneaked in one photo before realizing the actual wedding photographers were doing their work now so I should probably stop, hehe.

We filled the rest of the time with final bouquet touches, bridesmaids pictures, playing Skipbo, and slightly hyperventilating in the library downstairs. The ceremony was beautiful and Megan and Harrison both got a little choked up which was cute. Clara and Laura’s music was lovely and so was the sermon. Also I forgot the ring and the second-shooter had to pass it down the bridesmaid line to me before they got too far into the ceremony. *facepalm* Thankfully no one noticed, but I was horrified-ly amused at the mistake. Afterward we took some pictures and Dad got a cute BeReal of the wedding party. πŸ™‚

The reception was quite chilly, but Megan and Harrison were glowing with so much joy that they lit up the whole place. *beams* I snapped a couple phone pictures of Megan and Harrison’s first dance – it was INCREDIBLE. The speeches were all amazing (Sully and I both got to give one!), and filled with their share of jokes about two brothers marrying two sisters, hehe.

After free dancing and decorating their car (which mostly washed off in the rain), they had an epic sendoff of glowsticks and glow shoes which was very Megan. XD And then the guests all helped clean up and we finally drove home, exhausted but filled with happy memories of a wonderful day. Check out Megan’s photographer, @momentswithmckenzie, for beautiful professional photos of the day!

Phew, that was a long post. I am so, SO thrilled for my sister and my new double brother-in-law. πŸ™‚ They are two of my favorite people and they make such a wonderful couple.

Would you have a Green Truck ride bachelorette party? What was your favorite detail of Megan’s wedding decor?

Thanks so much for reading, my friends, and have a lovely day!

P. S. Don’t miss next week’s post! I think you’re gonna love it. πŸ™‚

  3. How lovely! Flowers, fun, color…love! Beautiful memories and I love the ride in the pickup! My grandpa gave us cousins rides over to the old cemetery where our family was buried. We did this on Memorial Day for many years and worked around the cemetery, had a little lunch. My family came from Cornwall in 1841. Our family were some of the first pioneers via the Oregon Trail to settle in what is now Washington State but then Oregon Territory. Love to you and your family Allison!
