Sea of Gold {Sisters Photoshoot}

Hello, dears!

AHHH, I am so, so excited for this post! Can you believe this is the first sisters photoshoot in almost a year?? (You can see the last one here – yikes, I think our photography skills have improved since then.)

A couple of days ago, I was taking my brother lunch at our other farm down the road when I met with a breathtaking sight: one of the fields was nearly COVERED in buttercups! It was practically solid yellow in some parts. O.o As soon as I got home I told Megan about it and she was like, “Ooh, we should do a photoshoot!” Just what I was thinking. 😉

We went over that evening at golden hour, but sadly those pictures didn’t turn out the best since it was already getting dark when we went. :/ So we came back later one morning and oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE how these photos turned out! I hope you guys do too.

Pebbles the Puppy

Hello, dears!

I hope you all had a wonderful, joyous Easter – I sure did! We spent the weekend at my grandparents’ house, where I took a bunch of photos of their adorable new St. Bernard puppy, Pebbles. She’s so happy and cute and rambunctious.

I think you guys are going to love these pictures! Puppies are hard to resist, and St. Bernard puppies are certainly no exception. ❤

So, ready to meet Pebbles?

Party at the Park

Hello, dears!

A couple of weeks ago, we went to a gorgeous park near where we live to celebrate a friend’s birthday. It was kind of like an arboretum, with elaborate gardens and landscaping, as well as more natural looking areas. Everything was in full bloom and full life and ahh, it was gorgeous! The perfect place for picnicking and exploring.

About half the photos I’m going to show you guys today are nature photos – blossoming trees, waterfalls, etc. The other half is not as beautiful but WAY more amusing photos of my friends jumping rope. And this isn’t your ordinary kind of jump rope, guys. XD XD

Ahem, now that you’re prepared, let’s get to it!

Made New {Spring Photography}

Hello, dears!

Today I have even more spring photos for you! Are you shocked? I thought not. But spring is my favorite season and it’s just so photogenic… *sighs happily*

I went through the past few weeks of photography and picked my favorites from several different mini shoots to combine into one post. I love these photos, and I hope you do too!

Spring in Bloom {Redbud Photography + a Poem}

Hello, dears!

SPRING IS FINALLY HERE! The world is looking green and pink and yellow and lovely around here, and I’m so happy about it. The redbud in front of our house is in full bloom, so of course I took a heap of photos. 😉 I hope you enjoy this explosion of pink, along with a few pictures of me playing around with the lacy shadows and trying not to squint too much in the bright sun. 😛

There’s not a whole lot to say by way of captions, so I decided to let the photos speak for themselves, and weave in a springy poem I wrote instead. (I got this idea partly from Clara’s lovely post here!)

I hope you guys enjoy reading this as much as I thoroughly enjoyed making it. 🙂

How to Make Eeyore Happy {+ More Pet Pictures}

Hello, dears!

I haven’t posted pet photography in a while, have I? I decided to remedy that today since you guys seem to quite enjoy pet posts – as do I. 😉 I recently took several pictures of Eeyore, my sister’s pet donkey, as well as some cute pictures of our yellow lab and some… interesting photos of one of our bunnies, hee hee. Enjoy the fuzziness!

Cultivating a Photographer’s Eye

Hello, dears!

I often have people ask me how they can improve they’re photography or if I have any tips for them. So today I thought I’d make a post on one very important tip that often gets overlooked.

It goes along with two other big photography tips:

  • Invest in good equipment.
  • Learn how to use it well.
  • Cultivate a photographer’s eye.

There are plenty of blog posts and articles about the first two, but I haven’t seen many or perhaps any about the third, so I thought I’d address that point today. 🙂

Wings on Water

Hello, dears!

The other day I went out with my camera before breakfast to take some pictures of the Canadian geese on our pond. It was a lovely sunny morning with blue sky, blue water, and a shy tinge of green starting to show through winter. I spent quite a while down there and got MANY pictures, a few of which I’ll be posting today. 🙂

I hope you enjoy “birdwatching” with me!

Thoughts On… {Anxiety}

Do you worry? I do. I’m nearly always worrying about something or other, and I’m not proud of it. During the past few years, as we moved from one farm to another, it felt like I lived in a whirlwind of uncertainties and anxiety about the future.

Moving might sound petty compared to the worries you’re facing right now, and it very well could be. Moving was a small thing, relatively speaking. As complicated and slightly terrifying as it was to move an entire farm… we were just relocating two hours away.

Past worries have a way of shrinking to their proper size as we travel farther down the road and gain perspective. Present or future worries, however, can loom over our heads like tottering sequoias, filling our whole vision and threatening to crush us with their weight.

I hope this post reminds you to take a few steps back from the tree that’s sprouting new branches of worry every moment. I hope it reminds you that you don’t have to (and indeed, can’t) chop down this forest alone, but that you can hand your burden to the Carpenter who is building something beautiful from the wood.
