Fall Walks

Here are some pictures from recent nature walks around our farm:

I thought this mullein looked pretty with the dewdrops on it.

We saw a lot of gorgeous bluebirds in one spot where we walked. I ♥ bluebirds!

We also found some salamanders under logs and such in the woods.

Awww, isn’t he cute? (Sorry for the not-so-good picture, but I wanted you to see him☺)

We also found good-smelling things, not just good-looking ones. This is pineapple weed and it smells deliciously fruity.

Does anyone know what this is called? I call it peppermint weed because it smells really minty! I know it looks really ugly, but it smells sooo good. I wish I could send you the smell!

Bunny Cuteness

Eeeek! A Spider!

While I was sitting at the computer, I saw this spider. He was actually pretty small, but I cropped the pictures so you can see all kinds of fascinating (and creepy!) details.

Look at his palpi (the little fuzzy feelers in front of his face)!

And look at those eyes – creepy, huh?

Do you see those little orange spots?

I hope you enjoyed looking at a spider for once!

Fall Is In The Air – And On The Ground!

Fall has arrived here at our house. You can easily tell if you look at our gorgeous trees. Like always, the pictures aren’t as good as the real thing, but they give you a pretty good taste of it.

There are a lot of fun things to do with fall: Make pretty leaf-and-acorn pictures or arrangements (inside or outside),

Make leaf piles (of course),

And let your bunnies play in the leaf piles. This is my rabbit, Honeybunny. She loved burrowing through the pile and hiding in the leaves. Is she not ADORABLE?

Creatures and Critters

Here are some pictures of a few of the creatures and critters around our farm.

A green frog (we are actually keeping her in a terrarium in our house)

An orb weaver spider – see the zigzag in her web?

A bumblebee

A monarch – Did you know you can tell if it’s a monarch or a viceroy by checking if it has a black band across its bottom wings? If it doesn’t have the band, it’s a monarch, if it does, it’s a viceroy. This is a monarch – no black band.

Some kind of sulphur butterfly

A praying mantis – it is actually eating a bumblebee – see its head in one claw and its body in the other? (Gross!)

And here is Jinx, our cat, with spiderwebs on his whiskers. He doesn’t look too pleased to have his picture taken.☺

To Be Pink, Or Not To Be Pink

We have several mums around our house, and one bush has a bi-colored flower on it.

It’s the only flower like it on the bush, and I haven’t noticed any other bi-color flowers.

A Close-up Look at Eyes

I’ve been having fun taking close-up pictures of my family’s eyes. It’s amazing what they look like up close!

Clouds with a Silver Lining
