I’m excited to make some Christmas posts soon, starting next week after we get our Christmas tree, but today I’m finally posting this photoshoot I did months ago with a lovely coral pink rose. One day I realized my shirt matched the color of the roses almost exactly, and couldn’t resist doing a mini still life/self-portrait photoshoot with it! I had a lot of fun seeing how many different pictures I could compose with just one prop.

When I was taking pictures for the last post, I kept coming across interesting patterns and scenes which would look perfect in black and white. I ended up with too many of those to squeeze into the first post, so I figured I’d collect them all here for you guys. B&W photos are a great way to capture interesting shapes and textures if the colors and lighting aren’t that great (or even if they are). I had to resist making all the photos monochromatic once I saw how nice these ones looked, haha.

Yesterday I tried an experiment: I walked around our house, attempting to turn random, normal things like an unmade bed and a cluttered table into pretty subjects. All the indoor photos you see online seem to have perfectly clean and tidy backgrounds, but I wanted to take pictures of the way our house looked without cleaning it up first. Was the experiment a success? I don’t know – you’ll have to tell me after you see the pictures!

Ah, I kinda love these pictures. I’ve been wanting to do a “dramatic natural light” indoor photoshoot for a while and I finally got the chance using a perfect gladiola bloom and… myself. 😛 Enjoy some creative self-portraits, peaceful indoor photography, and dramatic florals! Mom got so excited for our garden this year that she bought at least 75 different kinds of seeds. O.o That includes a LOT of flowers. So since it’s almost summer and I love floral photography and we have plenty of beauty to share, I thought I’d take some pretty flower pictures for you guys!
