The Library {Indoor Photography}

Hello, dears!

Today I have a different sort of photoshoot for you. While I was taking pictures for my Day in the Life post, I found a bunch of interesting subjects in our library and just kept snapping as I walked around. πŸ˜› I usually prefer nature photography, but it was fun to capture the texture of man-made things and the character of our old farmhouse from the inside. I hope you enjoy the tour!

Even though we have have bookshelves in other rooms, this is the “official” library because of the two big built-in bookshelves we moved in from our old house, and the sofa + chairs for reading on.

Dad’s set of Great Books looks very library-ish, doesn’t it?

We recently found this model ship at an auction. Isn’t it neat? It fits well with the old-fashioned vibe in this room, even though the rest of the house is more of a modern farmhouse style. Megan made a picture to go here with part of the “no frigate like a book” poem. πŸ™‚

I love the details on this ship! Also this picture!

Of course I had to take pictures of the piano. Something about them is just very photogenic, even when they’re plain.

house 3

I love how you can see the letters reflected in the keys!

Sadly, it’s not the best quality piano, but it still works. πŸ˜›

Mirror shots are so much fun.

house 9

I love these figurines. ❀

house 14

Tom the cat was laying around in the way while I took pictures, so…

We also got this neat chest from the same auction where we got the ship! I love the texture and character. Doesn’t it look like something you’d dig up on the beach or find in a cave?

house 25

I have no clue why the “4” is there. A mystery…

house 27

This lamp stand is a little strange, but makes for an interesting subject. πŸ˜›

house 28

I like this one. πŸ™‚ I’ve showed this gallery wall before, I think; it’s mostly composed of old letters we found in a log cabin on our farm.

house 12

Mom also included a few extended-family pictures among the letters. This one looks like something from an old book!

house 30

I can’t believe the beautiful handwriting on some of the letters and ledgers! It’s so pretty that it’s hard to read. πŸ˜›

house 31

I hope you enjoyed looking around our library! It’s quite a cozy room although I mostly go in it when I play piano. πŸ™‚

Would you like to see more indoor photography like this? Which photo was your favorite? Do you play an instrument?

Thanks so much for reading, dears, and have a lovely day!

  3. Only two bookshelves??? 😧 hehe… in my house our entire basement is lined with bookshelves, and there’s at least four upstairs. I can’t imagine a house without books, can you??

I love seeing the inside of your house too! It looks so nice while still being comfortable and homey at the same time.

I play violin, cello, and piano, and the list of instruments I want to learn is…. very long. 😏 Maybe someday?

    1. HAHA, WOW! But yeah, we definitely have more bookshelves, just not in the library. There’s a little loft area above the Great Room that is just lined with bookshelves and holds a lot of books, but there’s not much room to read them there. I KNOW, right? That would be weird.

      Why thank you! πŸ™‚

That’s super neat! I love cello music. πŸ™‚ Hee hee!

THE CHEST. That is the coolest thing ever, just gonna state my opinion there. BECAUSE TI LOOKS SO PIRATE-Y. πŸ˜€
We have an old photo of extended family a lot like that one! I find them kind of fascinating, for an unknown reason. πŸ˜› Do you?

  9. I can’t believe how beautiful this is! Definitely a big inspiration to me, as it looks so cozy and so much like a proper library. I love your collection of Great Books: we never used that series (I was homeschooled!) though I’ve read a fair amount of the content, I know. I’ve been meaning to start checking the series out at my public library to learn more!

    1. Aww, thank you! That’s so neat! I’ll be you have read a lot of the content. *nods* We didn’t actually use the series for homeschooling either, but we definitely read a lot of classics, which I’m grateful for.

  10. Amazing photos, Allison!! You have such an interesting way of capturing ordinary objects in a new light. As a pianist, I especially loved the shots of the piano the best…especially when you were “playing”. ❀
