Winter Playlist + Aesthetics 2021

Hello, my friends!

I’m writing my post in a motorhome today because we’re on vacation at the moment! I thought maybe I’d have time to sort through my trip pictures so far and post some, but nope, sadly I didn’t. Stay tuned for a travel journal post next week. Meanwhile, here’s a winter playlist for you guys! I know winter can be a rather sad or depressing season for a lot of people, so today I picked out a few encouraging songs I’ve been enjoying recently to share with you guys. I hope this music brightens your day, whether it’s icy or sunny outside where you live. πŸ™‚ Get some earbuds or a speaker and here we go!

Note: I will link all these songs on YouTube, but you can also find them on Spotify if you’d rather.Β

polaroid 1

As the rain and the snow fall
Down from the sky
And they don’t return but they water the earth and bring they forth life
Giving seed to the sower, bread for the hunger
So shall the word of the Lord be with a sound like thunder

the sower’s song – ANDREW PETERSON // I think the chorus and end of this song is SO powerful and uplifting. Andrew Peterson writes some pretty amazing lyrics, even if his melodies aren’t quite as dynamic as some of the other songs on my playlist.

polaroid 11

Wake up and smell the coffee
Is your cup half full or empty?
When we talk, you say it softly
But I love it when you’re awfully quiet

come out and play – BILLIE EILISH // While I don’t recommend this artist in general, I absolutely love this particular song of hers! It’s so sweet and calming and beautiful.

polaroid 8

Give me your hand to hold
‘Cause I can’t stand to love alone
And love alone is not enough to hold us up
We’ve got to touch your robe
So swing your robe down low

love alone – CAEDMON’S CALL // This one is kind of “new” to me but Caedmon’s Call is definitely an older band. My parents have a CD of their music from ye olden days. Hehe.

polaroid 14

My fear would surely kill me
If I didn’t know the truth
The things that I’m afraid of are afraid of You

things that i’m afraid of – ROSS KING // One of my favorites on this list! I almost forgot about it after hearing it back in the days when we listened to CCM music on the radio while gathering eggs. Ahh, the good ol’ days… πŸ˜› Anyway, here’s a more upbeat song if you’re getting tired of the slow ones.

polaroid 4

I know You’re able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don’t
My hope is You alone

even if – MERCYME // MercyMe has a bunch of popular Christian songs (like “I Can Only Imagine”‘), but this is one of my favorites of theirs. So much of the time we just want God to “make it better right now,” but these lyrics are a great reminder that He is our hope even when by giving us what we need, he doesn’t give us what we want.

polaroid 3

Only you know how to steady me
Ready my heart for everything that’s comin’ my way
Help me trust that you’re ahead of me
Go in before my feet with every step I take

steady me – HOLLYN // Another kinda different song. Hollyn’s songs have more of a rap flavor to them along with Christian lyrics. (Wow, I didn’t realize so many of the songs were Christian music this time!) I first heard of Hollyn when she was… what do you call it? An opening artist? When she sang in the only concert I’ve ever been to. πŸ˜›

polaroid 15

Where’d the wonder go?
Trading magicβ€…for a measured hope
Traded dreaming for a worn out home
Tired of being in control

child again – NEEDTOBREATHE // If you’ve seen my other playlist posts, you might know NEEDTOBREATHE is one of my favorite artists. Sadly I didn’t like their most recent album all that much, but I love this one! It’s nostalgic and lovely.

polaroid 19

These tired wings are falling
I need you to catch me

hold me now – RED // Red is one of the only bands my brother Logan likes that I actually enjoy some songs by. (WOW, that sentence was a wreck, HAHA. But eh, you get what I mean, right?) I’ve had this one on my playlist for probably years. Impressive.

polaroid 9

And when I wonder if He’s real
I’ll touch the ground beneath my feet
I’ll feel the beating of my heart
I’ll feel the lungs with which I breathe

guessing games – SKYE PETERSON // As you might guess (ha!), Skye Peterson is Andrew Peterson’s daughter. Her style definitely reminds me of his, including this song specifically.

polaroid 5

I will send out an army
To find you in the middle of darkest night
It’s true
I will rescue you

rescue – LAUREN DAIGLE // Lauren Daigle and Skye Peterson have almost opposite voices; I like them both! This may be my favorite of her songs.

polaroid 2

When confusion’s my companion
And despair holds me for ransom
I will feel no fear
I know that You are near

shoulders – FOR KING & COUNTRY // I heard this one first either on the radio, or on my dad’s playlist. πŸ™‚ It’s a good one.

polaroid 10

I’ll take every swing and every blow until you know My love;
Even if you beat upon My chest, tell Me that you don’t understand
I will love you and teach you to love Me again;

runaway – JESS RAY // If you like soft, acoustic-type music, check out this artist! I really like the “aesthetic” or mood of her music, especially for playing in the background. This one is so comforting.

polaroid 17

Mercy has covered us completely
Mercy is pouring down still
Wrapping our souls like a blanket
Coming in through our window sill

we made it – MOZI // This song plays a movie in my head when I hear it. It makes me picture sunlight on the floor; it feels so calm and hopeful and “aesthetic,” once again, if songs can be aesthetic.

polaroid 13

Air for free
If I sink to the darkest depths
Will you be there for me?
To hold my hand while I hold my breath
Cause I don’t wanna go

air for free – RELIENT K // I’ve shared songs from this album before. I only like a few other songs from this artist, but I enjoy practically all of them from the “Air for Free” album. They’re great road trip songs.

polaroid 6

“I’ll see you in the future
When we’re older
And we are full of stories
To be told
Crossing my heart
And hope to die
I’ll see you with your
Laughter lines”

laughter lines – BASTILLE // This one just makes me happy! That’s all. πŸ™‚

polaroid 7

There’s no secret thought You do not know
No place too dark that Your love won’t go
I am not alone, You are on my side
And this battleground I will leave behind

fight anymore – FOR ALL SEASONS // We’ll end with a hopeful song because we could all use one, right? ❀

_____________

Well, that’s all I have for today, my friends. I hope you enjoyed listening to those songs, and maybe found some new music to add to your own playlist!

What songs or artists have you been enjoying lately?

Thanks so much for reading, my friends, and have a lovely day!

          1. My mom started scrapbooking when I was one or two, and then she got too busy, so my grandmother started scrapbooking and she made dozens of albums, and then she got too busy, so now I am the resident scrapbooker of my family. πŸ˜„

              1. Yeah, that’s what a lot of our albums are. But, I just found out that my grandmother made albums for each year from 2009 on, and I’m so surprised I didn’t think of that before I saw hers XD

  1. YESS I love Jess Ray! She has a faster song called “Kindness” that I highly recommend and really relate to (though it’s completely different than “Runaway”). Also, “Too Good” (content: mentions drugs/self-harm).

I discovered “Things That I’m Afraid Of” recently and really like it! It’s much more mainstream Christian than what I usually listen to, but I love the lyrics.

As always your graphics are lovely (:
