A Sweet & Salty Photoshoot

Hello, my friends!

I have a rather random but fun collection of photos for you guys today. My friend Aria sent each other Dutch licorice a while back since we both love it, and whenever I get Dutch licorice I can’t help but photograph it. πŸ˜› It’s just such photogenic candy! If you’ve never had it before, it usually tastes like regular licorice but a bit saltier and more molasses-like. Click here to see the website where we bought it.

Anyway, these photos are certainly not life-changing or anything, but I hope they sweeten your day a little bit. πŸ™‚ Enjoy the results of me playing with my food!

I’ll start with some colorful candies. Such happy colors!

These striped ones were some of my favorites. They weren’t very licorice-y, but they tasted delicious!

I’ve loved patterns since I was little, so I quite enjoyed arranging these colors and lines to fit nicely together…

Something about edible things being stacked makes them look even more delicious, don’t you think?

More patterns! Why was this so fun? XD The round red candies are salty and minty at the same time – it’s weird.

Okay, now for some more monochromatic pictures.Β

Something about this black-and-white filter makes these little figures look so neat.

Arranging this shot reminded me of the children’s book “Millions of Cats.” Ever read that one?

Sometimes broken patterns are a lot more compelling than perfect ones.

What does this remind me of…? A particular kind of flower or something.

This kind is probably my favorite. And they look so pretty!

More satisfying patterns. πŸ˜‰

A sort of herringbone pattern made from herrings… or maybe they’re just fish, but I’m gonna call them herrings.Β

What do these look like to you? They were supposed to be little vases or rose bouquets.Β

The classic “go against the current” photo. πŸ™‚ This poor guy looks a little screwed up, haha.

Primary colors. πŸ˜€

And we’ll end with this little smiley face.

I hope those random pictures brightened your day! I had a lot of fun taking them… and eating a few meantime, as you can imagine. πŸ˜‰

Which photo or pattern did you like best? Have you tried Dutch licorice before?

Thanks so much for reading, my friends, and have a lovely day!

  1. I don’t think I’ve ever had Dutch licorice before, but your photos make it look so tasty! (Or maybe it just naturally looks tasty. XD)

I like the photo where they are all lined up in order of color. I love to organize by color whenever I have a lot of colored pencils or markers or anything that comes in different colors. πŸ™‚ And the flower vases were a creative idea! I doubt I would have thought of that. πŸ™‚

And that smiley face made me smile. 😁

    1. It is *definitely* tasty – at least in my opinion! I don’t like normal licorice, but I love Dutch licorice.
HAHA YES, I FEEL YOU. I love ordering things by color too! It’s just so satisfying, right? Also well thanks! I’m glad you liked the vases. It was fun to see all the different pictures and patterns I could make from the same pieces.
YAY. Its mission is accomplished. πŸ˜€ Thanks for such a lovely comment, Natalie!

  2. OH my Goodness, Allison!! I so totally adored this post!! ❀ πŸ˜€ ❀
So many of these could be book covers. Or article-head-photos. Many of them, to me, were very symbolic…almost as if I could read into them a bit. So much depth and interest conjured by a single photo!!
I will definitely be revisiting this post for inspiration, etc…
    Love love love ❀

    1. Yeah, I actually really dislike regular licorice, but not Dutch licorice! And thanks so much, Livy! Well I’ve taken pictures of licorice and food before… I dunno! I just like coming up with creative ways to see things, I guess. πŸ™‚
