Hello friends!
I have a CUTENESS OVERLOAD for you guys today, oh my! Carmen’s rabbit had four baby bunnies and they are possibly the most adorable things ever. Carmen and Sully helped me take pictures of them yesterday at golden hour and I ended up with some darling pictures I think you guys will greatly enjoy. 🙂
Read on to brighten your day!
Ta-daa! Here they are! Look how snuggly and fuzzy… ❤
The four different colors makes them really easy to tell apart. I love the ombre-ish effect they have.
Carmen already named all of them! This is Hiccup. (You know, like from How to Train Your Dragon.)
I mean the bunny is cute but also LOOK AT THE LIGHTING! Ah, so pretty!
It’s nearly impossible for me to be sad while holding a sleeping baby bunny curled up in the palms of my hands.
This is Buttercup. (Of course we don’t know the genders yet, but we’re just pretending we do. XD)
She has opened her eyes already! But she still looks sleepy here, hehe. For some reason I didn’t get many pictures of this fluff. Oh well…
This is Liesl (named after one of our friends, per her request 😛 ). I love the coloring of this one!
They honestly look kinda like moles or something when you can’t see their ears, haha. Adorable moles, but still. I’m excited for them to get a little older so I can get even cuter pictures!
Ooh, I love the sun flare in this one. And how tiny this bunny looks in Sully’s hands. ❤
The salt-and-pepper fur makes her looks like her mom, since Lavender’s coat has the same effect.
This is Vanilla Bean. She seems like a classic Easter bunny to me.
Are you melting yet? They’re so precious…
I’m sorry (only a little bit) if reading this post is really making you want to hold a baby bunny…
They’re getting big enough to start exploring and moving around more.
Lavender (the mom) originally had I think seven babies, but sadly three of them didn’t make it. These four little ones are doing well, though!
We’ll end with one more lineup picture. From left to right we have Vanilla Bean, Hiccup, Liesl, and Buttercup.
Ah, putting together this post made me so happy. ❤ I hope it added some joy and cuteness to your day too!
Which of the baby bunnies is your favorite? Shall I post more photoshoots of them as they get older?
Thanks so much for reading, my friends, and have a lovely day!

Eeeeek! I really love the white bun bun, but all of them are too cute! And yes, more photos as they grow up, please!

Oh my word these babies are the cutest things ever!!! They’re each such a unique color. What breed are they?
This makes me very excited because I’m going to start a small, on-the-side rabbit breeding business next month and I just CAN’T wait for the babies!

I KNOWWW. Their a mix because the mom is a mix (*her* mom was a mix of I think Jersey Woolly and Angora) and the dad is a lionhead. Both super cute!
Ooh that’s so exciting! I hope it goes well for you. I have absolutely loved raising and selling bunnies in the past so I hope you enjoy it too. 🙂

Awwww, so they’re going to be FLUFFY!!!!! I’m going to be breeding lionheads, so since these little bunnies are half lionhead this is giving me a good picture of what my babies will look like!
Thank youuu! If you have any tips, I’d love to hear them. Though, raising bunnies isn’t that complicated, I guess. 😂

YESSSS I CAN’T WAIT! Ooh yeah, that’s perfect! Hm, I should get you to talk to my sister… she has lots of tips since she’s the one raising them this time.

Hey! This is Carmen, Allison’s sister. I would love to talk to you about baby rabbits! Do you have any questions about them? Allison and I thought it would be fine to just talk on here, does that work for you?

Hello Carmen! I’m sorry for not replying yet, my first comment didn’t come through! Hopefully this one does.😁 And yes, talking on here is fine with me! Anyways, I wanted to say thank you for being willing to answer my questions! I am very thankful. My family breeds meat rabbits so I have a little knowledge, but obviously breeding pet rabbits is different. 😂 So a few questions I have are how often do you breed your female? Do you give her a different kind of food while she’s pregnant? How do you sell your babies? Like do you advertise online, or do you just sell them to friends and family? And lastly, do you feed your babies alfalfa hay or timothy hay? (I’ve heard you’re supposed to feed them alfalfa hay but I didn’t know for sure 😉) If I think of any more questions I tell you! Again, THANK YOU for your willingness to answer my questions, I appreciate it very much! ❤

Hello! It’s okay, I’m rather late in replying too, hehe. You’re very welcome for answering your questions, I rather enjoy it! 😊🥰
As for how often I breed my female, if you’re talking about after each litter, then I actually have two does for breeding, so I plan to alternate each doe, because I don’t have enough room to have two litters at once. If you don’t have two does, I would suggest waiting a few months after you sell the babies to breed her again, so the mom can have a break👍. If you’re talking about putting her in with the buck several times over a few days, then I would suggest to just put her in with the buck for a whole day, and if by the end of the day she’s kind of being mean to him or they’re ignoring each other, you can probably count on them having bred. If they seem just as interested in each other than they were at first, I recommend putting your doe in with the buck for another day. Also, if you plan to keep an eye on them during the time when they’re together, if you see them successfully breed 3 times, you can remove the doe.
So, I actually don’t give the doe a different kind of food while she’s pregnant, I just increase the amount of pellets I feed her to around a 1/2 cup (more if your rabbit breed is over 4-5 pounds) during the last two-ish weeks, and of course make sure she has plenty of hay. As for after she’s had the babies, I like to give the doe 4 teaspoons of an even mix of black oil sunflower seeds and rolled oats every day, because this increases her milk supply. I would stop giving her this when the babies reach 4 weeks old though, because they mostly stop nursing, so it isn’t necessary.
Before, when we’ve bred rabbits in the past, we’ve used Craigslist to sell the babies on, but this year I plan to try to sell them on Facebook (not Facebook Marketplace, apparently you can get fined or something if you try to sell animals on there), ’cause I think I can get more money for them and also better owners hopefully. Obviously, people that aren’t your friends and family can see the listing on those websites, so I’m going to include a care sheet with the baby, as you probably won’t be able to give advice to the owners of the bun buns.
I don’t feed the baby bunnies alfalfa hay, mainly because as it’s too rich for adult rabbits, so I can’t really put alfalfa in the pen because the doe will eat it. I’ve found that feeding baby bunnies regular grass hay works great😊.
WHOAAA, that was long!! I hope you don’t mind too much! And I’d be very glad to answer anymore questions you have😁.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Carmen. You have been very helpful!!! I did not know the trick of putting the doe in with the buck for a whole day. I will have to try that! And I did not know about the sunflower seeds and rolled oats either. Wow, I’m learning a lot XD. Ah yes, the Facebook thing stinks. How quickly do you sell your babies? Oh, and how much do you sell them for? You’ll have to let me know how the Facebook thing turns out. I’ve joined a Lionhead breeding group and people sell their rabbits on there to other people interested in that specific breed. So I might try that and Craiglist! I like the idea of a care sheet to include with the babies. Ahhh, thank you SO much Carmen! That was all very thorough and helpful. I will definitely ask you any more questions I have. One question I just thought of now was if you have ever dealt with the snuffles? We have a rabbit that currently has it and it’s not going away, we have some medicine that we are using to treat him but it doesn’t seem to be working. Anyways, I appreciate all of this so much! ❤

Aww, you’re so welcome! I’m really glad I can help🥰!
We sell our baby bunnies at 8 weeks of age, and if you can’t sell them that soon for some reason, you want to make sure and separate the boys from the girls and mom at 3 months.
In the past, we’ve sold baby bunnies for $25-$30, for a mixed breed, but I was recently talking to a friend and rabbit expert, and she said that I might be able to sell them for $60 or $50, so I’m going to try that, and if it doesn’t work, I can always make the price lower. I’ll definitely tell you how it works!
Yes, I’ve actually had a rabbit who had snuffles before. We looked up home remedies to cure it, and one article said to feed the rabbit with snuffles Oregano. Luckily, we have an herb garden with lots of Oregano, so I gave her some and it actually worked, she got better! Sadly though, we think she had some sort of internal disease when we got her, because a while later she passed away and her nose was bleeding😣. When we got her she had lived in the person’s yard with a bunch of farm animals, so it’s very likely that she got a disease there. I hope that works for you and your bunny gets better! Again, tell me if you have any more questions, I’d love to help!

That’s awesome! I hope you can sell them for that much.😁 Oh I haven’t heard about using Oregano! I’m worried that my doe might have been exposed to the snuffles so I’m waiting to see if she develops any symptoms and then I’ll have to try some things out. Oh no, that is so sad!😭 I’m sorry! Thank you SO much again. I just got my buck on Tuesday so I’m going to wait a week and then I’ll breed them! (as long as my doe doesn’t have the snuffles😂) At the moment, I don’t have any more questions, but I will definitely ask you when I have any! Thanks Carmen, you have been VERY helpful! ♥♥♥

Hello! For some reason your last message doesn’t have a reply button thingy, so I’ll just reply to this one.
I just wanted to pop in and ask how things are going, and have you bred your rabbits yet? Also, I wanted to tell u that I’ve been putting my baby bunnies in a separate pen (so their mom doesn’t eat any, scince it’s to rich for adult rabbits) with Alfalfa hay in it, as well as water of course, and I also give them their pellets there. Anyway, I thought they needed a bit more of a nutrition boost, so I put them in the separate pen for a couple hours, and I still do that.
That’s all, so goodbye!

AH baby bunnies! I am so jealous of bunny-owners. They’re just so cute. (And photogenic, it seems. Why can’t other animals stay still for pictures?)
Thank you for this post–it brought quite a bit of joy to my day. :DDD

Yes indeed, they are quite photogenic and cute! Well they’re a little less still when they get older, hehe. But they’re pretty calm animals in general if you don’t antagonize them.
YAY, I’m so glad to hear that!
