Hello friends!

Remember the seasonal playlist + aesthetics posts I used to make in the old days? Well, I was inspired to make another one this year just for autumn. Autumn colors are just barely peeking out around here so I had to scavenge my yard closely for these pictures. 😛 But the weather is cool and crisp and fall is definitely in the air.

feast of your faithfulness – BETHANY BERNARD // I recently discovered this beautiful and deep album. I love the words and melody to this first song especially. It’s raw yet comforting.

When the nights get cold
Sometimes when I look over
I see you by a fire with your hands out in the open
And I wonder if you’re singing autumn’s song

autumn’s song – STEPHEN DAY // A cozy and kinda cliché breakup song that fits the season well. 🙂

Another Monday comes and I just wanna breathe
‘Cause it’s a long, long week for someone wired to please

don’t try so hard – AMY GRANT // I relate to this song way too much.

Be the wheels, not the track
Be the wanderer that’s coming back
Leave the past right where it’s at

more heart, less attack – NEEDTOBREATHE // I’ve probably shared this song in a past playlist post. It’s been a favorite of mine for a while. The calm melody and thoughtful lyrics feel like a rainy fall day.

All these smiling people had it figured out
If I could be someone else
Someone beside myself
I might have a little less to cry about

happy or whatever – TAYLOR LEONHARDT // Another nice-to-listen-to song with thoughtful but also kinda fun lyrics. I like Taylor Leonhardt’s style.

I’ve never climbed the highest mountain
But I walked the hill of Calvary
Just to be with you, I would do anything

love song – THIRD DAY // My husband Sully introduced me to this song and wrote an excellent post on the lyrics here, so I’ll let you read his thoughts instead of mine.

The pathway is broken
And the signs are unclear

if you want me to – GINNY OWENS // A sweet and encouraging song by a lovely artist.

Would you step across a party line?

space – TOBYMAC // One of the many good songs from TobyMac’s most recent album. I love this one because hey look, it’s DC Talk! (If you know you know. 🙂 )

I’m tethered to Your love
Though I tried a thousand times
I just can’t break free of

tethered – JASON GRAY // I love Jason Gray’s music, especially his “Order, Disorder, Reorder” album. This song has a fun sound and great lyrics.

I don’t know why all the trees change in the fall
But I know you’re not scared of anything at all
Don’t know if Snow White’s house is near or far away
But I know I had the best day with you today

the best day– TAYLOR SWIFT // A sweet Taylor Swift song – one of the few that aren’t about romance. 😛 The music video is cute too.

child again – NEEDTOBREATHE // Another nostalgic song about childhood from one of my favorite artists.

headlights – THE NATIONAL PARKS // Whenever I listen to this song I want to put it on repeat and I’m not quite sure why. Something about it is just so cozy and aesthetic.

By your perfect love that’s river-wide

breathe – SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER // Leigh Nash has a beautiful voice that lends a peaceful, angelic feeling to this song.

And as Your glory fill the sky I wonder

So much more than all I see
‘Cause I am not, have never been beautiful like this

beautiful like this – JOSH WILSON // This song conveys David’s emotion in Psalm 8:4 when the humbling majesty of the night sky causes him to cry out, “What is man that you are mindful of him?” Fall’s grand beauty kinda makes me feel the same way.

where i’m from – COLONY HOUSE // A song about home – our earthly home and our heavenly one.

Well, we all have a face

the stranger – BILLY JOEL // Shifting gears here to a very different, old, and cool song. 🙂 The lyrics are fascinating but honestly I really love the intro and outro. It sounds like taking a leisurely walk down the street.

Until the sea of glass we meet
At last completed and complete
The tide of tear and pain subside
Laughter drinks them dry

restless – SWITCHFOOT // Fall always makes me restless. It’s not enough to just see the beauty. I always want to catch it, keep it, be in it, or get through it to the real beauty on the other side.

Mercy has covered us completely
Mercy is pouring down still
Wrapping our souls like a blanket
Coming in through our window sill

we made it – MOZI // An ambient song that sounds like golden hour.

Even when I’m crying out that I’m sure

thank you – GINNY OWENS // Another Ginny Owens track. I love how she uses the chorus of this song to speak to her blindness.

If I wished myself a superpower
