Hello friends!
I am THRILLED to finally launch a project I’ve been working on for many months: an online art course just for you guys, accessible right from my blog. You might remember the blogging tips mini course I released last year, which you can access here. Since then I’ve been creating video lessons for a full course: over 1.5 hrs. of lessons about hand lettering & typography.
Today I’m going to explain a bit about the course, show you a sneak peek of what’s inside, and give the details on how you can join. Let’s jump right in!

I created this course to share hand lettering tips and tricks I’ve used over the years. I’m so excited to teach you guys this super fun art form that’s also quite useful in everyday life. I plan to use the concepts taught in the course myself over the holidays for things like gift tags, namecards, journal entries, and table signs.

The first several lessons cover brush lettering, which is a very popular font that you can create with markers, brush pens, or even pens. I show you how to write the letters in real time and break down some of the details that give the font that signature brush lettering look.

I also go over how to blend and shade lettering, comparing different kinds of blending methods.

One of my favorite parts of the course is how it teaches you simple ways to invent your own fonts. Instead of memorizing a hundred different fonts, I illustrate simple modifications to tweak one or two fonts and turn them into many new ones.

The course also includes a few fun class projects, including how to get a watercolor background effect with Crayola markers, a walkthrough of a beautiful typography piece, and how to create this filled letter shown below.

Another helpful part of the course is the typography section, where we practice fitting words and elements together to make an artistic, professional-looking piece rather than just writing words on a page.

That includes ideas for banners, embellishments, flourishes, and other fun elements to add interest and movement to your pieces.

Along the way I show you real-life examples of the concepts we’re learning from my biggest collection of hand lettering – my Bible journals. You can check out a few examples of my work here.

Here’s a graphic showing all the topics covered in the course. The content is broken into short, easy-to-watch segments so you can work through the videos at your own pace.

Now that you have some background you’re all set to watch the sneak peek video below! Enjoy. 🙂

I’m so excited to share this course and these videos with you guys. It’s been quite the journey filming and editing these videos and I’m thrilled to finally release them. If you have any questions, feel free to drop them in the comments!
Thanks so much for reading, my friends, and have a lovely day!

I used WordPress with Stripe for payment! You have to get a paid site rather than a free one to have that capability.
