Old and Worn: A Photoshoot

After reading Rebekah’s post the other day, I was like, “Ooh, I want to do that!” So I did. 🙂 I went for a walk around our farm with Maggie and took looots of pictures. Thankfully none of our barns are falling down or anything, but some of them do look beautifully old and worn.

This is somewhat of an experimental post. I don’t usually do B&W (black and white) or architecture photography, but today I’m doing both! Let’s see how the experiment turned out…

AHH I LOVE THIS PICTURE SO MUCH! 😀

This is a broken window on our “Pighouse.” We don’t use it anymore except as a machine shed, but it used to be a pig barn (thus the name). I always thought the broken part of the window looked like a pig. 🙂 Can you see it?

Isn’t this neat? Vines (I think they’re Virginia Creeper vines) climbed quite a way up this old grain silo.

I think the experiment was a success! At least it was fun to conduct. 🙂

Do you like B&W or architecture photography? What is your favorite thing to photograph?

P. S. Thank you guys sooo much for entering my giveaway and taking my survey! I enjoyed reading your suggestions and opinions. I’m going to do a post soon that Clara suggested in the survey!

Random Photography Part 1

I had so many random, homeless photos I had to divide them into two posts! I’m going to do two sections today: pet photos and completely random photos.

Let’s do the completely random photos first. 🙂

Really, Allison? You took a picture of your ice cream cone? Yeah but it looks so pretty! XD

allisonon-the-roof-reunion-cats-and-bunnies-098-1280x960

Here’s a (super hard) mystery photo for you. Guess what it is in the comments, and I’ll tell you if you were right or not. (Hint: this substance is not in its natural state. I modified it before taking the picture.)

One warm day I took pictures of the hose. XD

The reflection is me trying awkwardly to hold the hose and take a picture at the same time. XD

I also took a bunch of photos of one of my aunt’s old sheds. I was going to enter it in BIBPC, but I ended up entering a baby bunny photo. 🙂

GAHHH I LOVE THIS ONE!

And now for a few pet pictures. YESSS!

Ohhhh I love this picture so much! Lily looks so beautiful and stately next to the flowers. ♥

Ha ha! Olaf was washing herself after we gave her a bath, and I got a picture of her flinging water everywhere. XD

I love this picture too! Look at the neat reflection in Lily’s eye – not to mention bokeh in the background!

“Oh, hello human? Can I help you?” *Wag, wag* HA HA HA ISN’T THIS HILARIOUS?! Maggie, you are a funny puppy. XD

And that wasn’t even half of the random photography. Oops.

What photo(s) did you like the best?

***Allison***

P. S. Speaking of pets… we sold all our baby bunnies. *SNIFF!* It’s so sad, but thankfully we sold them all to very good, loving homes. We sold two of them (Lilac and Hank) to my aunt’s family, and the three others (Blackberry, Higgledy Piggledy, and Drover) to a lady who owns a petting zoo. Drover (renamed Pearl) already got to be in the petting zoo, and everyone loved her because she was soooo friendly! That’s our baby bunny. XD ♥ So now we are baby bunny-less. 😦 Oh well, I suppose we’ll just have to do it again!

The Warm and the Fuzzy: Part 3

(Part 1 and 2)

Time for some puppy love! 😀 My aunt has German Shepherd puppies and although German Shepherds are not my favorite kind of dog, these lil’ guys are ADORABLE!

BIPBC #6: Epic Puddle Splashing + Random Pics

Howdy, and welcome to Allison’s BIBPC entry #6! XD The theme this time was “Action”! Behold, action! (I’m entering the first picture.)

Allison- 2014-05-06 004 (2) (1280x960)Allison- 2014-05-06 001 (1280x960)

Ha ha, isn’t that great!

Story behind the picture: I took this a couple of years ago after there was a flash flood which resulted in ginormous puddles near our creek! (Another time, I don’t know if it was that time, we floated down the flash-flood-swollen creek in an inner tube. Which proceeded to pop. XD XD XD ) My siblings thought it would be neat if I could take pictures of them splooshing through the water, and they were right! In the picture I’m entering, Megan and Jefferson are glorying in mud-puddle bliss. Look at the expression on Jeff’s face! (If you can see it.) Pure joy. 😀 Oh, and I think it was this same flash-flood when the boys drove our three-wheeler through the water. XD Ahh, good times.

Since this is a pretty short post, I thought I’d add a few more random photos I took recently.

A Walk in the Woods

Yesterday we had Nature Study with our friends, and we went for a walk in the woods after our lesson. There were so many interesting and pretty things to take pictures of!

We drove to the woods in our truck, and I snapped this funny picture of Maggie while on the ride. It makes her look quite wide, doesn’t it? XD XD XD (You can see that she’s shedding for spring. 😀 )

-Allison(Woods) 001 (1280x960)

There was several lovely mosses that I just had to take pictures of – heh heh. 🙂 (Click on any picture to enlarge it.)

I like these pictures below of moss on a rock.

A downy feather, stranded in moss…

-Allison(Woods) 013 (1280x960)

I also found a feather by the roadside. Isn’t it amazing how delicate and beautiful  feathers are? Actually, this feather is not exactly as delicate or beautiful as some. 😀 (Click to enlarge, again.)

Megan found a little salamander and put him on a leaf to take a picture of him. I slipped in to get a few pictures too. ;D (Cli… – eh, you already know. XD )

Fungus on a branch…

Henbit… I love looking at the little purple flowerets up close.

And last but not least, here are three galls my sister spotted for me. Another gall necklace, anyone? XD XD XD

P. S. It feels super warm today – it’s 72 degrees (Fahrenheit)! When it’s warm in summer and spring sometimes our family will eat a meal on the little flat roof just beside our room. We listen to music, or watch the cars go by, and it’s really fun. 🙂 Have you ever done that?

Yay for Picture Edits!

I ♥ PicMonkey! PicMonkey is a really fun, free, picture-editing website. I’ve been playing around on it lately, and I thought I’d show you some of the results.

I made this with one of my dandelion pictures, this using this tutorial, and I also added a border.

Wish (1280x1280)

This is another edited dandelion photo, which I edited to look like night.

night dandelion (1280x960)

I really had fun with a certain sunset picture I took. A few weeks ago there was a pretty sunset, and I got a rather washed-out phot for some reason, which I saved for precisely this kind of thing. If you put a texture over a white spot in your photo, the results are amazing! This is the picture I used to make the edits. Blah right? But then…

-Allison(sunset) 003 (1280x960) (1280x960)

These are the edits!

spaceset (1280x960) (1280x960)ocean (1280x960) (1280x960)

I especially really like the top one, but I think the bottom one is neat because it looks like the mountains are an underwater world beneath the surface of an ocean. 🙂 I might make a story prompt post sometime with some of my edits.

This is an edit of my dad’s eye. The picture looks basically the same, I just added a filter. My dad thinks his eye looks really old in that picture, which I guess it kind of does, but I think it looks beautiful – I love the starburst of colors in his iris!

another one (1280x960)

And here is just a funny one to end with. 😀 Cute lil’ Maggie!

maggie (1280x960)

Tee-hee! Isn’t she adorable?

Which edit was your favorite? Sometime I want to do a contest where I post, maybe three pictures, and then people edit them on PicMonkey and see who wins the best edit of each photo! But I’ll wait till WordCrafters is over. Oh, my sister is actually doing a neat photography challenge right now that I can’t wait to do! Click here to see it.

A Winter Walk (Without Snow)

Yep, we went on a walk around our farm the other day with our friends, and sadly enough, there was no snow. 😦 The last couple of years we’ve had really early snow (at least for us), like in October and November, but this winter there has been nothing but a puny little flurry. 😦 Anyway, I still got some pretty pictures, whether there was snow or not, so here goes!

_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_/\_

Some of the trees on our farm have huge bracket fungi on them.

004 (1280x960)

These are dried Jimson-weed pods. They have quite the thorny complexion, don’t they? In summer, Jimson-weed has a sort of morning glory like flower. A note here: Jimson weed is actually poisonous, so don’t go around stuffing it into your mouths – not that anyone would want to. XD

A simple twig looks pretty up close.

012 (1280x960)

This is a very tiny, shriveled persimmon. We have a little persimmon tree on our farm that annually gives about four dried up fruits which are almost always to high to reach. Once we actually got to taste one, and it must not have been ripe because, boy was that bitter! It made your mouth dry up like a cotton ball. Blech! But then for Christmas Eve supper we found two “real” persimmons at the grocery store, and those were actually pretty good! They tasted kind of like a mild, sweet melon or something. Plus they were about ten times bigger and plumper than any of our persimmons. XD Have you ever had a persimmon?

015 (1280x960)

One of our friends. 🙂

017 (1280x960)

Group picture!

020 (1280x960)

I took a picture of Maggie running and it turned out really funny!

019 (1280x960)

We walked up a wet gravel road, and Maggie left cute pawprints behind her. I edited this picture on my camera so you can see them better.

Maggie-prints

We went into a woods, and Maggie must have sniffed out some creature or other, because she started furiously digging under a rotting stump. She dug a hole so big that her whole head went practically underground! It was really funny, and we stayed there watching her for a long time. But she never caught anything. XP

033 (1280x960)

And last but not least, we took this walk when my sister Megan (center)first got her new camera, and my little sister (left) and my friend (right)were watching her work it. I edited this picture (as you can see!) on my camera with the “Painting” setting. Doesn’t it look neat?

032 (1280x960)

I hope you enjoyed my ramblings and picture from a winter walk! Which picture was your favorite?

***Allison***

P. S. Don’t worry, I will do more Photos from of Old posts, but I’m saving them for a little later because the next ones are from springtime.

P. P. S. Wow! I seem to be doing a lot of P. S.’s on my posts lately, don’t I? 😀

Bunny Therapy

What would we do without our bunnies to entertain us? We would probably be bored to death. I LOVE BUNNIES!

Ahem. Now, get ready for cuteness!

Please don’t tickle me! I beg you!

Olaf:

Her eyes are sort of creepy and sort of beautiful. Olaf looks so calm and serene in this picture.

Yoshi:

Sorry for the blurriness, but isn’t he adorable?! Peek-a-bunny!

Diamond:

She’s as long as my sister Megan’s torso!

And last but definitely not least – Doesn’t she look hilarious?!

Allison(frost, bunnies, ATCs) 055 (1280x960)
Oh yeah, Diamond is totally chilling out, dude.

And a bonus pic of Maggie and Coffee Bean – together! Maggie chases Jinx, our other cat, but Coffee Bean just sits there while Maggie noses him, so Maggie’s like, “What’s the use of chasing him if he won’t run?” It’s so funny!

003 (1280x960)
Maggie: “See, I’m a good puppy!”

Which picture was your favorite?

P.S. I will reveal the answers to the mystery pictures (see my last post) on Saturday. Thank you so much to all the people who already guessed! I’m so excited when I see a comment with guesses for mystery picture posts. 😀

Creation Series: Day 7

After all that he had done, God rested. Not that he needed the rest – he NEVER needs rest – but to set an example for us, to show us how we should set aside a day of rest, a day to worship him.

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.

Here’s a nice little (uh… big) collage of most of the pictures. In fact, I think I got all the pictures that I used on there except for two. If you’re up for a challenge, which two pictures from the series didn’t I include in this collage?

Days of Creation Collage

I had a lot of fun making this series and I hope you had a lot of fun reading it. Thanks for following along!
