Recent Clay Creations

Hi, folks! How be-est thou? XD

I really like making things out of polymer clay (some of which I sell at my Etsy shop), so I’m going to show you a few little creations I made recently. Let’s start with a few fairies, shall we? They are super tiny – the littlest one, as you can see, feels quite comfortable on a penny.

Next up is a clay custom pet I made for my grandmother. It’s of her dog, Duke. I made him from a few pictures my sister Megan took (like the picture on the bottom right.) (You can click on the pictures to make them bigger.)

And then we have this lil’ gal. Her name is Alice, and you can buy her here at my Etsy shop. Isn’t she so cute? 🙂 Here she is shown standing on the top of the gnomes’ house (more on that later) and the fairies’ toadstool.

I made a game called Pebbles a little while ago, so I made some polymer clay pebbles for the playing pieces. I really like how they turned out! They are really shiny because I glazed them with a really nice glossy glaze. The granite looking one was a lot easier than it looks, because the clay already came like that. 🙂 The purple one has little translucent spots on it, and the rest are marbled clay.

Now for my masterpiece – the gnomes! 😀 I also made a gnome-house and table set for them.

Here are the two little gnomes…

And here are more details of their house. I made this by first forming a skeleton of 6-8 sticks, draping it over a tinfoil ball, and baking them. Then I wove a green log through those sticks for a vine, and filled in some of the gaps with more sticks in different colors. I added a sprinkling of tiny pink flowers for more color.

I made and baked the top yellow flower separately. I started with the inner layers and progressed outwards, adding the texturing details after I put the flower together. After it was baked, I glued it to the stick-part with this Sculpey glue which bonds as it bakes. And that’s it!

Here is the table set. I might sell this on Etsy sometime soon, but I’m too attached to my gnomes and gnome house to sell them. XD

table 2 (851x315)

And that’s it! I’m not an expert, but I still really enjoy playing with polymer clay. Do you feel like “claying” now? If you do make something, I’d love to see it! (Here is a link to the kind of clay I use. I highly recommend it!: Premo Polymer Clay.) Have you ever worked with polymer clay before?

Thanks for reading!

P. S. We still have snow here, but it’s at that messy state between slush and snow. It’s kind of like the last remnants of nail polish that seem to stay on your nails for weeks after most of it has worn off. I always wish both snow and nail polish would last longer, and then just go away all at once. At least the snow still looks pretty nice, although I don’t know if I can say the same thing for my fingernails. 🙂 Do you still have snow?

  1. Wow, that clay dog looks amazingly realistic-it looks a lot like Alice, too. You’re really talented at working with clay. 🙂
And yes, I’m totally with you on the snow subject. It’s been so warm here, that all the snow is almost slush. I wish the snow would melt all the way or that the temperature would be cold again! Although, I’d probably rather cold weather right now(with more snow), because I don’t really want our snow cave to melt all the way……

    1. Aww, thank you very much! Yep – but my dad said there was actually a possibility that we might get another snowstorm! It was probably a small possibility though.
I hope your snow cave stays un-melted for a while!

              1. 😀 XD You’re welcome! I love commenting on things! I plan on getting some more things hopefully from your etsy shop in the future!!! THANKS! I’m so glad that I was able to be your ‘Guinea Pig’!!! XD

                    1. 😀 XD 😛 I have an Idea I want to tell you about! Please reply to this ASAP! I think you’re gonna like this! I also have some questions! 😀 It has to do with a clay thing!!!!!! PLEASE reply soon!!!!

                    2. Oh, that sounds REALLY interesting! I’m really excited except… We are actually going out to eat at Cracker Barrel. I am really sorry about that. 😦 But I’ll definitely be able to chat when we get back!

                    3. Yay! I’m back now! I have clear-ish clay, which is called translucent clay, but it’s not exactly clear, just sort of. And I don’t know if you could put it in water or not. You probably could if you put the right glaze on it first.

                    4. Okay! 😀 Here’s the Idea:
So, could you make an like aquarium, and put blue clay over the top, then make another fish, and hang it down from the blue top, so that it was an aquarium, with a fish in it! And MAYBE you could put water in there too, so that the ‘fish’ was actually in water, floating around with the current! It’s just an Idea!! 😀 YOu could also make a dog house, and a clay dog or dog head coming out of it! And my mom wanted me to ‘tell’ you how much she loved the two clay animals you did for me! She thought that Chubster looked so real that he looked like a freeze dried fish! XD 😀 😀 I love just looking at them and how amazing they are, and how detailed they are!!! 😀 I love them so much!!!!!!!!!!! XD 😀 I’m thinking about maybe buying your stump and things! 😀 Bye!

                    5. Those are great ideas, K. A.! But the thing about the aquarium is that the translucent clay I have is not actually very clear – it’s kind of like clear-ish plastic. 😦 If you make it super thin you can sort of see something on the other side if you press the thing right up against it, but unfortunately, it isn’t as clear as glass. I really wish it was! But the dog house would work! Were you wanting me to make those for you, or where you just saying that those were ideas? I really wish I could make the aquarium like you said. 😦 But you could maybe do it another way where you could just see down from the top into a container, like this really neat aquarium I found! Isn’t it good? You can copy and paste this into the URL box to search it:
Aww, I am so, so glad you like your clay animals, K. A.! That makes me really happy. 🙂 Thank you for your sweet comment!

                    6. Thanks…ya, I had another Idea if it was like that! 😀 Maybe! I would like having the dog house for me! Not so much the aquarium, but the dog house, then I could put Aggie’s head peeking out of it! 😀 Ya…Okay! I’ll look at that! 😀 You’re welcome! 😀 I’m glad! 😀 I was thinking you could like make a blue aquarium with a window in it, so that you could see the fish through the window!!! 😀 Bye!

  2. Aww! These are great! Alice is my favorite, but I really like the gnomes too. And I never thought about the way snow and nail polish are similar, but they really are! I wish the snow wouldn’t look nasty while it’s melting.

    1. Thank you so much! Aww, I’m glad you want me to make your dog for you! I looked at the pictures of your dogs on your blog, and I think I would charge $20 for just the head, and $30 for the whole dog. I would probably prefer to do Kenobi, because I feel like I could make him better. I would also need to have a couple of pictures – the clearer the better – of your dog from the front, back, side, etc., so I can make him as life-like as possible. It is absolutely fine if you don’t want me to make it after all. 🙂 Thanks for commenting! 😀 😀
