Hello, dears!
We have this charming little stream on our property that for some reason I’d only explored one side of til recently. But when I did, I found it was even more beautiful than what I’d seen before, if possible!
Shortly after I explored it the first time, a foggy day came by and, imagining how beautiful the stream would look in the mist, I took my camera back down and ended up with some lovely, foggy pictures that I can’t wait to show you guys! Would you like to come explore the stream with me?
You have to climb between sagging strands of barbed wire and duck under beech tree branches to get to the stream. I like how the beeches keep their leaves through winter – pale, faded, ghostly, but still hanging on, waiting patiently for spring.
Push aside the branches and come down to the water. Ahh, isn’t it lovely?
Fog is kinda like snow – it turns the ordinary into magical, drapes a muffled quiet over everything.
Streams are so much more picturesque when they flow over rocks and pebbles, don’t you think?
I saw this nice beech tree and thought, hey, that’d be a nice place for a portrait. Since I hadn’t brought a tripod, I looped my camera strap over a nearby branch… but then the picture was crooked. So I hunted for the longest pieces of garlic grass available, with which I adjusted the angle of my dangling camera by gingerly tying the straps to the tree. XD I wish I could have gotten a picture of the setup, but anyway, it mostly worked!
A little past that spot, an enormous beech rises in the middle of a small clearing. It is gnarled, knobby, partially dead, and beautiful.
Upon closer inspection, I found what looked like letters carved into the bark long ago, which spread apart as the tree grew until they became almost illegible. I wonder who carved them, and when…
All along the stream, the mist turned invisible cobwebs into dainty silver threads, draped like jewelry on outstretched branches.
Just past the beech tree, the stream divides in two. The fork in the stream was one of the prettiest spots I found, but I just couldn’t get a good picture of the whole spread – you had to be there, I guess. I did get some shots of the individual branches, though! I LOVE this picture!
It’s amazing how different water looks with slow vs. fast shutter speeds. I usually prefer fast, like this, so you can see the individual, crystal drops.
This is the other branch, which I ended up exploring further.
I love how the water trickles down this big slope of rock. It might make a good waterslide in summer. π
It looks like the stream has flooded before and carved a maze of hollows and crevices in these tangled tree roots.
I stopped at this last little waterfall, which I could hear bubbling over from around the corner. I wanted to keep going, on and on, but I turned around and walked home.
And that’s my little misty winter walk. π Ahhh, I love those pictures. They’re so calm and quiet and magical – at least to me. π I hope you guys enjoyed exploring the stream with me!
What was your favorite picture? Do you like fog and mist or not particularly? Do you have a story of doing something slightly crazy just to get a picture?
Thanks so much for reading, dears, and have a lovely day! β€

These are so gorgeous, Allison! β€ I can't believe y'all have a creek nearby right on your property! But I live in the city with houses and buildings right next to me, so I guess I'd think it unusual. XD How do you like living in the country?

BTW – I love when you post about your bullet journaling creation. You inspired me to start a bullet journal! I’m still struggling a little bit with getting it all planned out. It’s a little overwhelming at first. I decided to use it only for blogging and writing purposes. π

Wow, I'm so glad to hear that I've inspired you to start a bullet journal! Aww, yeah, it can be overwhelming to plan. It helps to realize that it may take a couple tries and fails to figure out what layout works best for you. π That's a great idea to use it for blogging and writing! I hope it works well for you!

That’s the…right side of Little Runny, right? It’s so pretty, and the fog is perfect! Man, that tree with the letters carved in it…that’s so neat. It gives me one of those funny longing feelings, to know who went before…

I like the third, fourth and the fifth picture the most. It’s so cool to have a stream flowing right through your property. I wish I had one. The mist makes it look so cool. I really want to see this stream again in summer and also to slide in that waterfall.πVery cool work.

Hi great photos – I like the ones were the soil has eroded from the trees. You can imagine “the Wind in the Willows” by Kenneth Grahame being made here with Ratty, Toad, Mole and the Badger. Mist is great to capture in photos – it lends an tangible feel to them. I love the countryside and cannot imagine ever living in a bustling noisy town, capital city. Enjoy yourself.

Ohh!! The rocks in the stream are so pretty! It seems weird because we just have dirt in our streams! XD Other than the rocks that stream reminds me of a stream we have! π I really loved the picture of the water droplets!! π My siblings and I like to play a game were we get logs and mud and make a dam so that water build up and then we have a little pond! π I REALLY loved all of the pictures!!!!! π

I think so too! Heh heh, well that’s too bad. That’s more how it was at our old farm, but here there are a bunch of rocks and sand. Ooh, that game sounds super fun! We used to do something like that at the tiny creek where we used to live. I’m so, so glad you liked the pictures, Laura!
