Honeymoon Pictures Pt. 2 {An Ocean Sunrise}

Hello friends!

One of our favorite memories from the honeymoon was waking up early and seeing a glorious sunrise over the ocean behind the resort we stayed at. It was awe-inspiring. I absolutely love how the photos turned out and can’t wait to share them with you guys!

Read on to add a little peace and beauty to your day. ❤ (And to download some pictures as pretty wallpapers for your phone if you want!)

We’ll start with a few pictures of the ocean on a regular day. This was the shoreline when we walked down from the resort. Kinda crowded but not too bad. It was a fun day at the ocean except for the part where I got SUPER sunburned. :[] You can read about Sully’s solution for that in the first honeymoon post. 🙂

The water was this gorgeous, clear turquoise that made me so happy. It looked like pictures of a Caribbean beach or something. Sully and I got in the water and enjoyed the waves for a while. It’s also entertaining to just stand at the edge of the ocean and let the waves catch your toes.

I had to take some footprint pictures of course. 😉 We took a nice long walk along the beach while the breeze dried us off.

Now for the sunrise pictures. Two days later, we set our alarm for I think 6:00 and quietly exited the resort to this view of a hedge, the water, and the sky already showing some color. It wasn’t quite as bright in real life, though. More pastel at first.

For some reason I REALLY LOVE THIS PICTURE. It seems kinda like a stock photo or a movie still or something. The pretty pastel colors and stark, lonely umbrellas just look really nice together.

The sunrise is starting! Neither of us remembered having seen a sunrise on the beach before, so we waited with much (sleepy) anticipation.

There’s always something therapeutic and relaxing about watching waves break on the shore, you know? I love how water can take so many forms – a huge inseparable mass to a bunch of tiny water droplets in just a few seconds.

Slowly, the sun came up and everything exploded into color. Guys, it was gorgeous. A little girl was also watching the sunrise with her family and she suddenly exclaimed, “It’s so BEAUITFUL!” My thoughts exactly.

The colors! How do we get to live in a world where the sky can be almost any shade of the rainbow, and the sky can reflect on water and wet sand so it looks like the ground is color too?!

I wish you could have seen it too. It was a spectacular view. Definitely one of the highlights from the honeymoon. I like the view of only ocean and sky in this one with no land in sight. The waves look like a wrinkled piece of aluminum foil or paper, don’t you think?

We’ll end with one of my favorites. Looking at this one brings me back to the sparkling sound of ocean foam washing the shore, the way the reflected orange sunlight rippled with the waves, and the incredible glow of the horizon in the background. So beautiful and peaceful and breathtaking.

Ahh. I took a TON of photos that morning, but I narrowed it down to just these few since they were pretty repetitive, haha. I hope you enjoyed scrolling through my favorites!

Which picture did you like best? Have you ever seen an ocean sunrise?

Thanks so much for reading, my friends, and have a lovely day!

  2. First of all that featured image is GAW-geous👌🏼! I already knew the post was going to be great when I saw “ocean” and “sunrise” in the title🌚🌞!
The water looks really pretty👐🌼. I love the different shades of blue – especially the one closest to the horizon✨.
Watching the sun rise and set is always so peaceful🌞✨. Especially when the whole sky changes color – simply amazing🧘👐.
I really LOVE that picture too😍!! You know when I look at your photography it’s actually a reminder that stock photos are taken by people and do not just spawn on some website😂. Your photography is so good and sometimes it really looks too good to be true – in a good way😍!
I can’t put into words how I see that picture of the waves – it’s just too beautiful🌹.
I’m thinking that the only reason why we’re blessed enough to be living in such a beautiful world is because of God. Like as you said with the sky being able to reflect on surfaces and give them color – that’s awesome! Like God created all these small wonderful things that are just so breathtaking🌝!
I’ve only seen ocean sunsets. There’s this difference between watching sunsets and sunrises but I once again, can’t explain it. But it’s a good difference – both bring peace and joy in their own way✨.
Ahh this was such an amazing post Allison🌞. Once again, thanks for sharing 👐🌼.

Haha well thank you. ❤️ “Too good to be true in a good way” is quite a compliment. 🙂
You are 100% right about that I do believe – we get to live in such a beautiful world because such a good God has given it to us! What an amazing thing.
Yes, I agree that sunsets and sunrises are a little different yet both being such peace and beauty.
So glad you enjoyed the post dear!

  5. Stunning sunset and photos!! Thank you for sharing them! The Master Artist is so good at what He does, isn’t He? I’ve been meditating on what Romans 1 means when it says His invisible attributes, namely His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have made. I think sunsets and sunrises are huge testaments to God’s invisible attributes.
