Hello, dears!

My random photos and mini adventures are piling up fast, so I guess it’s time for another Etcetera post! You might want to get comfortable, because this could get reeeeally long. O.o (Update: yep, it’s really long. XD) Are you ready for this? Are you set?

Book Club

Some of our friends started a book club this summer and invited us to come. It’s been really fun so far! Last meeting we discussed The Hobbit. Most of the members also made their own costumes and brought hobbit food. 😀 I didn’t personally dress up, but I DID take pictures of everyone else’s costumes, so that counts, right? 😛

And here it is… behold, the Hobbit Feast! We had cram, honey cakes, stuff mushrooms, a strawberry tart, and lots more. YUM.

Gardening

We have a MUCH smaller garden this year than usual, but we’re still getting a few things, like… tomatoes with chrysalises on them? XD I think it might be a swallowtail or monarch chrysalis.

Okra flowers are stunning! They look like a real domesticated flower, don’t they?

Megan also has a flower garden with zinnias. They’re such pretty, cheerful flowers!

Stream Wading

As you might recall from our best friends photoshoot, I recently got to meet my dear blogger friend Aria for the first time, and we had SO much fun together. The Sunday before they left, all the kids went on a Mule (UTV) ride through back pastures and lots of tall grass and brambles, which was rather crazy and extremely fun, and at the end we showed Aria and her brother this lovely stream on our property. And took pictures. 🙂

Before they left, we got this picture of all of us together. AHHH I LOVE IT.

I also made Aria and myself these BFF necklaces with clay and copper spray paint, since our nicknames for each other are Hippo and Giraffe. 🙂 It took a while to plan out how to fit the two animals together into a heart, but it was worth it. ❤

Blueberry Picking

A while ago, our friends had extra blueberries and wondered if we wanted to help them pick in return for berries to take home. Of course we said YES. It was a lot of fun, and we got two gallon bags of blueberries to take home!

We ate some of the ones we picked, of course, and also some tasty frozen blueberries.

ALSO these absolutely delicious blueberry muffins!

We picked for them again while they were on vacation, and I got some neat pictures of the blueberries after the rain. 🙂

Animals

HA HA I LOVE THIS PICTURE. Carmen wanted to give Olaf a bath the day we took down the log cabin, after we found the kiddie pool.

My little sister Carmen trimmed off a huge tuft of Willow’s fur the other day. O.o The poor rabbit must feel so much cooler now! ALSO THAT LOOKS IMMENSELY STRANGE.

Dragonflies apparently like fallen walnut tree branches. I finally got some close-up pictures of them!

A couple of days ago we went to a family reunion, which was at this sort of privately owned park back a path, behind an equipment dealer store. XD The strangest, neatest part about it is that there’s a cage back in the woods with peacocks in it! (Also wow, this picture looks creepy, or like a writing prompt or something. O.o Probably because of the awful lighting.)

There was just a male and female peacock inside this time. (Sometimes there are several.) The kids always like to see if they can get any fallen feathers from between the wires of the cage. We didn’t find any big feathers this time, but I did find two small ones!

Also, I have sad news: Snickers, our male rabbit, died the other day, we don’t know how. 😦 😦 *sniffff* He has sired several adorable litters of baby bunnies, and featured in several adorable pictures (and in this adorable bunny photoshoot). We’re planning to get another buck eventually so we can breed our does again, but we don’t know when yet…

 

Etcetera

Okay, let’s move on to something happier: like pie! I decided to try a chocolate cream pie because it looked hard, and I wanted a challenge. 😛 It was a little difficult, but it turned out pretty well. Also I discovered that MERINGUE IS GREAT. It’s so weird, but so… NICE.

My youngest brother, Jeff, loves to weld things, and he’s really good at it! He welded and spray-painted this cornstalk for Dad’s birthday. 😀 Isn’t it neat?

I was watering plants and just thought this would make a neat picture. 🙂

Ooh, I LOVE this spiderweb photo! Heh heh, because of the bokeh, of course.

And lastly, we shall end with these lovely, foggy pictures from about two months ago. I LOVE fog – it’s so mysterious and neat.

WE’RE DONE. Goodness gracious, that was a long post. I would normally split it up, but I have so many post ideas and not enough time to post them that I tend to make longer ones when I do have time. 😉

  3. AHHH I LOVE THIS POST. Like I love all your posts, ha! AHHH THE HOBBIT COSTUMES WERE SO GREAT. Ha ha, the beards. XD Ooh, the garden pictures are pretty! That’s a neat chrysalis! And I love Megan’s zinnias…I should plant some next year. AND THE PICTURES FROM THE TRIP! YAAYYY. Awww, I just love them ♥ ♥ Ooh, your friends net their blueberries! How many bushes do they have? It’d be nearly impossible to net ours, because we have SO MANY. HA HA OLAF. XD And ooh, those are great dragonfly pictures! (Have you ever seen a DRAGON FLY? That’s a quote.) And the PEACOCKS! That DOES look like a writing prompt picture. Ooh, and I like that watering picture…anything looks good with the 50mm lens, just about. XD And the spiderweb and the fog! AHHH I LOVE THEM ALL. I don’t know what my favorite was. HELP. Maybe the blueberries with the rain or the fog or the spiderweb…

  4. I loved seeing all the photos, and didn’t actually think it was too long, haha! I loved seeing everything and my favorite was…ooh, the necklace you made for you and Aria! So pretty! 🙂 I’ve been looking for the avocado bestie necklaces, would you happen to know how to make those? j

    BUT WAIT. SNICKERS??? GONE??? *cries* First it was my favorite Clemmie, and now it’s my new favorite Snickers…he even won 3rd place in the CLM contest…*sniffs* May dear Snickers rest in peace! 😦

        1. I KNOOOOW. HE WAS ADORABLE. (Willow is offended.) I want to get another Holland Lop buck, but we’ll see. Nope, we didn’t enter a fair since we moved, and the fair here is 1) really small, 2) in May, and 3) we didn’t even go to it, so. XD I wish we could have entered stuff, though.

  7. Ooh, I love those last few photos of the fog!! Those best friend necklaces you made are AMAZING!! You should start selling them in your art shop 😀 Poor Snickers, out of all your bunnies he was (in my opinion) the most adorable. (probably because he was a lop breed XD )

  11. Wow!! Amazing pictures! One time we were at a zoo and they had peacocks just walking around. They were not even in a cage! XD I really enjoyed this post. 🙂 I have never been to a book club it looks really fun though!

  13. Great post, Allison! I honestly didn’t realize it was that long as I was reading it, so I guess the length didn’t bother me. 😉 The BFF necklaces you made are so creative! The hippo is so cute. 🙂
    The huge cage with peacocks seems a little odd to me, but I actually really like the lighting of the photo of the cage. It gives the picture a bit of an eerie feel, which is fun, in a way.
    Oh, and I love the landscape pictures with the fog (at sunrise?). They’re super pretty. 🙂

  22. I love your etcetera posts, Allison!
    My favorite pictures were the rabbit with the sunglasses, (that was such a funny picture.! He looks like he is trying to be cool) the sun set pictures, and the friendship necklaces. The necklaces are so pretty and so creative!! I love how they fit together and the meaning behind them.
    And that cornstalk is amazing! Your brother should sell his welded things.
